5 People Vanished in Tasmania's Wilderness and Were Never Found

On the 27th of December, 1995, a piano accordion player was seen for the last time standing in a Hobart mall. He was 65, known for hitchhiking rural highways to spread his faith. He never made it back. No body was ever found. He's one of 169 people who have vanished across Tasmania since the mid-20th century, dozens of them into the island's own wilderness.

We're pretty much tracing five of those cases, Geoffrey Rallings, Peter Henrich, Bruce Fairfax, a solo hiker known only as James, and a 76-year-old still missing since 2025, each one searched for extensively, none of them ever found. A karst-riddled landscape of hidden sinkholes, sudden weather, and a scavenger built to erase evidence fast.
