NY AG moves to protect historic Queens burial ground

Community advocates and historians are calling for a parking lot in Elmhurst, Queens, to be transformed into an official historic memorial. The site is believed to be the final resting place of approximately 300 freed slaves from the early 1800s. While the property is currently in foreclosure and facing auction, legal motions have been filed to protect the burial ground from disturbance.
