Video Summary
AI GeneratedLuke visits Y2 Customs to get Paint Protection Film (PPF) applied to his car's bonnet. The video introduces the business owners, Aiden and Rory, who share their professional backgrounds and the benefits of using high-quality Expo PPF to protect vehicles from stone chips and swirls while enhancing gloss.
Yo guys, welcome back to Geo by Luke.
As you know, I almost lost my Instagram.
If you guys follow me on Instagram, you would have seen.
I've done a little post.
Honestly, on that day, my heart wasn't there.
It wasn't a good feeling losing almost 70,000 followers.
So yeah, we're gonna roll the footage
of me going to Y2 Customs and getting my Bonnet PPF.
Tell them a little bit about yourself, Aiden, man.
So, I mean, I've been doing PPF almost six years now.
I started off at one of the biggest companies in the industry.
I was there for a while doing training and everything like that.
So I learned everything there.
So fair play to them.
I learned a lot from that place.
Yeah, but moved on.
Went freelance.
I was freelance for about three years,
traveling all over the country into the Netherlands as well,
doing stuff out there.
And then last time I was out of the Netherlands,
I was out there three months.
And Rory, who I've met at the company I was at originally,
we were chatting and we said like,
oh, it's about time we moved into our own place,
get somewhere that's static and just do everything in-house,
do it all properly.
Got Expo accredited now.
So providing the best stuff, best film, best patterns.
Best knowledge.
So it was coming, innit?
Exactly. It got to the time needed to move into somewhere.
So it made sense.
So we found this place.
It's out of the way.
It's a nice location.
And obviously the knowledge of going around to all the places
and stuff, knowing what works well in a unit,
what you need, what you don't need.
So we've been able to make that the perfect unit to work out of
and also the perfect unit to look at as well.
Obviously, where it is and everything,
customers are happy to bring their cars down here.
And obviously the connections that we've got now,
that we've both made over the years,
happy days, it's all good.
Everything's going well.
Perfect combination.
Exactly.
Like you've experienced what it's like working for someone.
You've been around.
You've done your own biz.
You freelance.
Now it's time that you opened your own business.
You've got your business partner, Rory.
Exactly.
You boys have done an amazing job in these units.
Really, really nice.
Got their plotter over there.
They've got a ramp.
They've got the other side where they leave the cars ready
for the customers and get pictures.
Everything you need, we've done it.
Yeah, it's perfect size as well.
It's not too big.
You know what I mean?
It's just the right amount.
And we've got space to expand as well.
The units around here and everything,
we can expand over time and everything.
So that's all good.
So that's Aiden.
Rory, where are you?
I'm a good-looking boy, you know.
Tell people, man.
Tell the people that are watching this at home
what knowledge you've got on all of this stuff as well.
So at one of the leading companies before that we met at,
I was in charge of all the quality control,
the PPF that came out.
So I make sure that everything goes out tip-top, perfect.
No imperfections, no nothing.
Yeah.
So that's me.
Do a bit of detailing as well?
Bit of detailing.
Any cars that need it before, we will correct.
But we are just focusing purely on PPF.
But if a car needs heavy correction
or just a light correction before
to make sure there's no contaminants on the paint,
then we can sort that out.
Yeah, perfect.
We'll put Y2 Customs Instagram up on the screen now.
Also do a screenshot of their Instagram
so you can see all the crazy work they do.
Mate, when you guys PPF a car and you take pictures,
you just look mad, don't it?
It looks like it's wet, isn't it?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
High gloss levels.
That's it.
Brings out the gloss as well.
And obviously if you guys have got really nice cars
and you love your cars and you want to protect it
by doing PPF, you're basically protecting the car, right?
You're stopping it from getting stone chips and-
You're preserving it.
You're keeping it how it should look.
Yeah, so if you ever wanted to come and sell it,
you take it off, right?
Exactly.
Take off or even if it's in good nick, keep it on.
Yeah.
How long does PPF usually last?
So with Expo, you get a 10-year warranty
and we give a five-year good workmanship warranty.
So anything that's like, if anything lifts
because of the way that it's been installed,
we'll happily fix that or replace it if needed.
So yeah, I mean, it lasts however you treat it.
If you treat it with respect, it will respect you.
Yeah, I treat this car with loads of respect
so that PPF's not going anywhere.
And Expo's one of the best makes?
Expo is the best make.
It is the best make.
So it's like the creme de la creme, yeah?
So Aiden's putting down a soapy water for the PPF.
It's the slip solution, this one.
Slip solution.
This is just to start the prep for the PPF.
Squeegee this off, get rid of any dust, any contaminants.
Spray it up again and then we can lay the PPF on.
Oh yeah, look at that.
Always.
It was meant to be.
Aiden, how many cars have you PPF'd?
Thousands.
I don't know.
I stopped counting after a couple of hundreds.
I don't know.
Honestly, I don't know.
I mean, there's been some days
where I've done like,
obviously not every car is full cover.
Like some car is just like a couple of pieces.
Some car is just the front end.
Like there was one day
where I just did two front ends in a day.
So obviously that's two separate cars,
but yeah, I don't know how many cars I've PPF'd.
And the hardest car you've ever PPF'd?
Hardest car, I'd probably say Zonda's, things like that.
So the Pagani's are always, they're difficult.
They're complex, but they're fun.
I enjoy the difficult stuff.
Mate, are you hearing these cars that he's PPF'd?
Oh my God.
Have you got the S15?
So a good PPF job.
You should never be able to see the PPF, innit?
Never be able to see the PPF.
And when you PPF a car,
Aiden was saying that you technically don't strip it.
It stay, everything, all the panels stay on.
So it's not like wrapping a car
when you have to strip the whole thing.
With PPF, you just go over the top
and they do it in a way where you can't see it.
Crazy, man.
How much glossier that is, man.
Oh, glossy.
Yeah, that's hella glossy.
Look at that.
Looks like a brand new bonnet now.
It does, innit?
Yeah.
That's what I'm saying.
It moves away the swirls, yeah?
Yeah.
Bye, bye swirls.
What, they can't come back, or they can?
Self-healing.
So any swirls, just leave it in the sun
for a couple of hours, gone.
Look at the bonnet, man.
Looks like I just got a brand new...
Mate, that's, that's brilliant.
I wouldn't do that.
This process is heat locking.
So not everyone does this,
but it's quite an important step.
Some people don't even know about it.
Some people just slap film on,
and that's it, leave the edges to dry.
But this way, for me,
it just makes sure everything's stuck down.
I can check all the edges.
I can make sure it's all good.
It just makes the film nice and sticky,
dries it out.
Happy days.
All right, Aiden, Rory.
All sorted?
All sorted, finished up.
Yeah, happy?
Mate, proper glossy, innit?
Like I said, my bonnet brand new
didn't even look like this.
Come from California, my bonnet.
Yeah?
Yeah, come on a massive wooden crate.
But yeah, guys, you smashed it.
Absolutely smashed it.
Y2 Customs.
Y2 Customs, the way forward.
That's right, man.
You guys need to get down here
and get your car PPFed,
because look at this, man.
Can't even tell it's been PPFed.
That's the aim of the game, innit?
Exactly.
It's that finish.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You want it to be perfect.
You want it to protect.
You want it to do all the things
you expect it to do,
and that's what you get, so.
Yeah, and now like no stone chips
and all of that?
No stone chips, no swirl marks, everything.
Aiden did mention that the PPF is self-healing,
so if it was to get any swirl marks,
you can park it in the sun.
Yeah, just leave it in the sun,
leave it outside,
just like normal daytime temperature
will just make the swirl marks disappear,
and like light scratches and stuff,
just heat it up with a hairdryer
or a boiling water,
and that's it, they're gone.
That's the main point of the PPF.
What more do you want, man?
A car that's swirl free, isn't it?
Swirl free.
Proper glossy.
All right, boys, thank you so much.
No worries.
Good to see you.
All right, you too, man.
And yeah, we'll have to get some more content together.
We'll probably get these
Tinted PPF.
Tinted PPF, and if I get my windscreen changed,
because it's got a stone chip.
All right, guys, I hope you enjoyed that video.
