Yvette O'Brien wins 27th Connecticut Women's Open, makes Connecticut golf history

Starting off the final round of the 27th Connecticut Women's Open here at Tumblebrook Country Club, Yvette O'Brien begins her round even par, tied in first with Dixon Hill. With three birdies in the bank, O'Brien rounds out the front nine in the lead at one under. As they give each other a run for their money, teeing off the back, both players make a birdie on 12, bringing the leading position to a tie. Quick to reclaim her lead, Yvette's birdie on 13, as well as the 25-foot putt for birdie on 16, brings her one step closer to the champion title, now leading by two with two holes to go. As she finishes out the 18th hole with one more birdie, she secures the 27th Connecticut Women's Open champion title and becomes the first player to win the trifecta of the Connecticut Women's Open, Women's Amateur, and Girls Junior. Just to be able to say that and have that in history is just such an honor, so it's gonna be so exciting to like look back one day. I'm so honored to play here at Tumblebrook. I just really grinded out there. I mean I had a couple disappointing bogeys for sure, but I just did my best to stay positive and just had a mistakes are gonna happen mindset and just move on. Pins out there were not easy the past two days, so just trusting my line and just having the mentality like I can make it from any range and I did and I was really happy about that.
