Learn how to properly use the hip abduction machine for glute growth with the correct form, setup, and technique.
The hip abduction machine is a great glute exercise for targeting the glute medius, glute minimus, and outer glutes. When performed correctly, machine hip abductions can help build stronger, more developed glutes while improving hip strength and stability.
In this video, I’ll show you how to use the hip abduction machine, including proper hip abduction machine form, body positioning, range of motion, and common mistakes to avoid.
If your goal is to build bigger glutes, grow your glutes, strengthen your hips, or improve your lower body workouts, try adding seated hip abductions to your glute workout or leg day routine.
Coach Lauren demonstrates how to properly use the hip abduction machine to target the glutes. The guide covers machine setup, body positioning, and the correct execution of the movement to maximize muscle engagement and maintain control throughout the exercise.
What's up, guys? Coach Lauren here, and today we're going to teach you how to use the abduction machine glute-focused.
All right, so set up. We're going to have a seat on the machine, and this is our safety here.
You're able to adjust your starting position. For this, we likely always want it in that tightest position inwards,
whatever's comfortable for you. But I'm going to start it all the way in, lock it in place,
pick a comfortable weight for yourself. And from here, you can either lean back, be in a neutral position,
or lean forward. They all hit your glutes very similarly. For me, I really feel the top of my glutes the most
when I'm leaned back in this position. My heels are going to be between these two.
So instead of having it in front or behind, we're going to make sure that our heel is here.
You're going to get some good traction on the machine. I'm going to lean back.
I'm going to think about using my knees to lead the movement. So from here, you can either hold on for stability,
hold on to yourself, whatever is comfortable for you. And from here, I'm going to drive with my knees outwards,
squeezing in this position, nice and controlled on the way in, coming all the way into that full range of motion,
driving with my knees at this point, feeling that stretch here, squeezing and controlling on the way down.
Squeeze, nice and controlled.
