In today’s studio chat and Alla Prima oil painting session, I’m doing something a bit scary: I am painting over an old portrait. Looking back at my work from a few years ago, all I could see were the flaws, so I decided to reuse the canvas panel for a new study to save money and embrace the process of letting go.
