Inside Kaliu Ala Moana — Kakaʻako's First Wellness-Focused Luxury Condo

There's a new luxury condo coming to Kaka'ako which is going to be right here and it's called Kali'u Ala Moana. It's got aspects that have surprised even me. Now this is a building that's going to deliver in 2028 or 2029. It is the last pre-construction opportunity along Ala Moana Boulevard. It is truly a luxury building at boutique scale. It only has 285 units. There's only three buildings really known for being of this size and those buildings include Hokua and Park Lane and Wai'ea. Kali'u is the first wellness focused building. There's a lot of really cool amenities here and we'll get into those in a bit but we want to talk about the building first and where this is. This is located in the Our Kaka'ako neighborhood of Kaka'ako or the Kamehameha Schools Master Plan. Other buildings that we've mentioned in this area are Kahuina. There's a new building that's also picking up steam called Wai'akoa and then this Kali'u again is really going to bring luxury to the area. Luxury in Kaka'ako is really known as Ward Village but now this brings something new brings a new energy to the neighborhood and we're starting to see this neighborhood really come together. I'll be honest I've had a hard time kind of articulating Our Kaka'ako. Ward Village is just so easy. I've said this on another Kaka'ako video because it's such a curated and cohesive neighborhood but this neighborhood's really unique because I'm starting to feel a bit more creativity and with this building also with that wellness aspect it brings something completely different. As far as amenities are concerned really quick there is a pickleball court, you've got party rooms, you've got a salt water pool, you've got a zen garden where there's hot and cold plunge and other things to come later in this video but let's talk about the units a little bit. You've got different options here which other buildings haven't offered. You've got a typical one bedroom, you've got a one bedroom with a den, you've got a one bedroom that doesn't just have a one bathroom but it's also got a powder room and includes two parking stalls, you've got the three-bedroom Makai Signature Unit and this is really what sets this building apart. Typically in a building we're going to talk about like 00 units and 01 units. Those are the units that sit right on Ala Moana Boulevard and offer the best views but their Makai Signature Unit actually has a 270 degree view so you've got a view of the harbor facing west, you've got a full front row view here looking at the ocean and then wrap around you've got diamond head views as well. For a three-bedroom unit the pricing is really incredible. Pricing starts at about in the three million dollar range and goes up to five million dollars. Also in these three-bedroom Signature Units you've got this floating tub or zero gravity TOTO tub and all TOTO appliances. We'll show you that in a little bit. Okay now for the wellness tech. This is the TOTO zero gravity tub. There's a of course there's cute buttons like a TOTO appliance typically has and I don't know which one does what. It does get a little bit noisy but from what I understand this tub is amazing. All of the Makai Signature Units will have this tub in the unit and then there will also be two on that sixth floor amenity deck. In addition you've got some other wellness tech including an immortal chamber which has like red lights and I think it's got like some sauna benefits to it. You've also got an Ascape robotic massage and this building is really all about recovery and wellness. Again you've got that salt water pool, you've got that cold and hot plunge, you've got a zen garden so it's really meant for you to be able to just zen out and rest and recover right here in Metro Honolulu. Another really cool thing about this building is that there are five elevators total for 288 units which is pretty awesome because if you consider other buildings I've talked about this also how you run into people or the elevator is stopping on multiple floors whether you're going up or down but here five elevators for 288 units really limits the density. More importantly on this front unit here this Signature 3 bedroom they have their own elevator. Now to talk about some of the finishes this here is a standard kitchen you've got Miele appliances and everything feels very luxury. The typical ceiling height in these units is going to be nine feet with some on the higher floors that will be 10 feet or even more. We'll also see a Signature kitchen which is a little different from this but interestingly enough there are some buyers who actually prefer a standard kitchen over the Signature regardless of whether the quality is of higher standard or not. Now for the Signature kitchen this is natural stone quartzite in the other kitchen we just had quartz and then your cabinets are also European custom made. You've got a different type of wine refrigerator in this Signature unit kitchen rather than the standard it had like the smaller wine fridge but I don't know that's pretty nice let's check that out. I just came back from Sonoma so a little bit wine obsessed right now. That's your fridge freezer oh that's deep that's great and then also with the flooring the standard unit has like six inch engineered hardwood planks and then there is also carpeting in some of the bedrooms and then in the Signature units you've got the eight inch hardwood planks and no carpeting.
