Back in 1991, my boss and photography mentor laughed at my photos and told me they were horrible.

If you've ever gotten a negative comment or a disappointing response on a photo you're proud of, you know how fast your confidence can get crushed. Especially when you're a photography beginner.

What I learned over the next 35 years changed the way I judge my own ability... and it might change the way you judge yours too.

For a long time, I thought the creative eye was something you're either born with or you're not.

Some people walk into an ordinary location and see an amazing image. The rest of us walk right past it.

I don't believe that anymore.

In this video, I'll share what actually changed between my early images and the ones I create today, and why it had nothing to do with a better camera, a better lens, or Photoshop.
