USF study probes microplastics in mangroves

Graduate students at the University of South Florida are researching whether mangroves in the Bay Area act as sinks for microplastics. By analyzing mangrove leaves and the stomachs of mangrove tree crabs, the study aims to determine how these pollutants enter the ecosystem and impact wildlife, ultimately helping to protect waterways and essential coastal nurseries.
