Police search for suspect after fatal shooting outside Montgomery County plaza

New tonight at six, Montgomery County police are searching for a suspect after a deadly early morning shooting at the Potomac Woods Plaza shopping center in Fox five. Sydney Persing is live there tonight with the very latest Sydney. Katie, police have released very little details about this case to us tonight, but we just spoke with a business owner here in the shopping plaza who gave us a lot of information. He actually just encountered this victim's family a couple of hours ago. You're going to hear from him in just a moment. But first, I want to catch you up to speed with what we do know from police officers apparently responded here around two a.m. This morning. Again, this is the Potomac Woods Plaza off of seven locks road. Police said when they arrived here, they found one man shot with serious injuries. They say they tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead here on this scene. Chris slaughter is the general manager at Brooklyn's deli in this plaza. He said he spoke with investigators and other business owners here and told Fox five he heard there was an argument inside of a popular bar in this shopping center. A bunch of people had apparently gathered there to watch a UFC fight. He said an argument then broke out between some customers. We don't know what it was about, but it spilled out apparently into this parking lot, he said, and somehow turned to gunfire and that victim ended up losing his life. He said he believes the victim who died was in his late twenties and said he was here is that young man's family came to the scene earlier today. Unfortunately, you know, the mother and and the brother of the victim came into the restaurant just a few minutes ago and, you know, she's devastated and I can understand that. Very sad because, you know, to lose a kid and look in this mother's eyes and the way she was crying, it just it's hurtful, you know, and even if it's not your own family, it still hurts, you know, so it's gonna be a bad day and we got a lot of customers asking questions. So, you know, this is their neighborhood, drunk people and guns just doesn't work. So when you get those combinations and then add a UFC fight in it and also add the fact that these guys are young, that's what makes things worse, you know, and nothing good can happen at two o'clock in the morning. So, Katie, as you mentioned at last check, police still do not have a suspect in custody at this hour. The good news is there are a lot of visible security cameras here and if in fact this person, this suspect was a customer, it's possible they drove here that maybe there's a shot of their license plate. It's possible also that they may have used a credit card inside of that bar.
