We are here in Franconiura to try stone logs and right now we are warming up in this pretty cool sector which is in the sun right now.
There are routes like Magnet and Five Gravity which were reclaimed by Wolfgang Gullick and Kurt Albert back in the 80s.
It's pretty common here in Franconiura when you warm up on very old routes that you can find the first bolt maybe at 6 meters when the first part is very easy.
Even if it's maybe only 7a it's super mentally hard to face the first part but it's pretty cool.
That's our project, Stone Logs. It's a historical route created by Jerry Moffat in 1988. It's considered the first 8b plus in Franconiura.
As you can see the route looks very short and intense. It's maybe 8 meters long with 4 bolts but the hardest part is probably the intro boulder.
Can't wait to try it and figure out our beta.
You have to go in like this. A bit vertical.
I think this is the hardest boulder.
You can do the first one for sure.
I think if I take this one like this I'll be stuck here for the rest of my life.
It's really bad to be stuck here.
Maybe I just have to raise the left one and plant another route.
That's exactly what I was telling you before.
Maybe if I raise the left one here.
Our first day on the route has come to an end and we understood that the hardest part of the route was at the beginning.
Andre was very solid on the first move which I was not able to do.
But I was able to do the second move so I was happy and hopefully tomorrow we will be able to link all these moves together.
We are here just to check out the condition of the route because this morning we woke up and outside was completely foggy.
But right now the condition looks pretty good and right now we are going to warm up on the same crag as yesterday.
So let's go.
Let's go.
It's pretty crazy to think that Jerry Moffat was able to climb this route back in 1988.
Considering that this route is basically like a 50 degrees overhanging wall it was even more impressive to envision a climb like this back in the days.
I just found a new beta for me so now for sure I'll go for another try.
Everything is slipping. How the hell can I climb like this?
I call it a day.
Unfortunately I was not able to send it on this trip.
I was very close that's why I'm pretty disappointed.
I felt very good this morning.
I was like floating on the single moves, on a section.
But then I just fell too many times on the second move and then Andre found another beta which was actually better but was on the last tries.
So we need to come back as soon as possible.
