Some wodds only make sense after you’velived… | A heartfelt country song

We were young and running wild Chasing every road in sight Always looking for tomorrow Never holding on to tonight Wanted more, we wanted everything Never thought the years would fly And somebody said, just slow it down We smiled and let the words go by One day you understand One day it all comes clear Why they said, don't rush your life These days will disappear Hold on to what you love is gold Some words you hear When you are young But only years can make you know We worked hard and counted Fridays Wishing all the weeks away Always waiting for the good times Like they hadn't come our way Worried over things that faded Fought some battles we could lose Things that once seemed so big Aren't the things we'd ever choose One day you understand One day it all comes clear Why they said, don't rush your life These days will disappear Hold on to what you love is gold Some words you hear When you are young But only years can make you know Let the evening last a little longer Take the long way home tonight Leave tomorrow for tomorrow You don't have to win each fight There'll always be another mountain There'll always be another plan But time has its own way of teaching What we couldn't understand One day you understand One day it all comes clear Why the older ones kept saying Don't waste the good years You love, let the little worries go Take your time with every good day They pass faster than you know One day you hear those words again And finally understand
