AI GeneratedCharles reflects on the lessons learned from a collision with Lewis Hamilton in Monza, emphasizing his responsibility in the incident. He discusses the inherent tension of having two competitive drivers at Ferrari and his recovery process following a high-impact crash, confirming he is physically fit and ready to compete in Madrid.
Obviously you had a difficult end to the weekend last time out in Monza,
what kind of learnings are you taking forward from that weekend into this one here in Madrid?
Surely the Turn 2 incident is not something we ever want to see again and for that I mean
obviously reviewing the images it's pretty clear that I could have done a better job
just slowing down the car and not putting Lewis then in a difficult situation.
So this is something I can learn from for sure but we've already spoken with Lewis and then apart
from that I think the pace was quite strong on the track that for us was always going to
be a difficult one so yeah not much more to add. Thank you.
Charles with two drivers that are equally quick with a team that is as ambitious as you are,
is there a scenario where both drivers are always happy and the team gets the most out of you both?
How do you manage this? It's a good question and I think it's Formula 1,
there's always going to be some kind of tension however I feel like we have a very very good
relationship with Lewis, we've always had it and of course there are moments where
both of our motivation makes us want to win or at least to finish as
high up as possible and sometimes you've got to set up that motivation a bit down which was the
case for me in Monza and speak about it and when you speak about it again we have a very good
relationship the only thing is that obviously driving for such an iconic team Ferrari and then
in Monza as well things are taking proportions that I will have hoped it didn't take but
that is the way it is and we've got to live with it and manage it in the best possible way.
Hi Charles, nice to see you back here there were some doubts it was a big impact I think
53 if I'm right so how what's the process been of getting you back I heard that you
had some blurred vision are you feeling better now and do you think you'll be fine to drive
this weekend? Yeah I would be 100% fine I mean it was only right after the crash that was
just a little bit strange and felt a little bit dizzy but very quickly from Monday afternoon I
felt better had quite a few treatments for the neck because that's where most of the shock went
and feeling good now so I'm ready for this weekend did quite a lot of checks and all
were fully fine so yeah no worries for this weekend
