Little corners of her life

Transcript for information slides:

"Please read: wild elderberries should only be foraged when you are certain
of the plant’s identification and that the berries are fully ripe (dark purple).
Elderberries should not be eaten raw and should be cooked thoroughly before
consumption. Always forage responsibly, away from roadsides or areas that may
have been treated with chemicals, and leave plenty for wildlife.
If in doubt, don’t pick or consume.

In Irish folklore, the elder tree (Sambucus nigra L.) was regarded with both reverence and caution; believed to offer protection while having strong connections to the Otherworld.

Its dark purple berries were traditionally gathered in autumn and
made into syrups and cordials for the harsh winter months ahead.
Elderberries are naturally rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, particularly
anthocyanins, and have been valued for supporting general
wellbeing and bolstering the immune system."
