Protesters marched through the streets of Ljubljana
as Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar arrived for the opening
of Israel's first embassy in Slovenia.
We are protesting today because we oppose the opening of the Israeli embassy.
Israel has been committing genocide for three years.
For more than 60 years it has been implementing racist
and apartheid policies in the Middle East.
Slovenia's previous government imposed a ban on imports
from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank,
an arms embargo and entry bans on top officials
including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
But power changed hands in June.
The Slovenian government has decided to take a 180 degree turn
in favour of the murderous state of Israel.
Our demands are to close this embassy, prevent the opening of any embassies,
consulates or cooperation at the university, economic or diplomatic level
for the murderous state of Israel in the future.
This is the greatest disgrace to have befallen Slovenia in recent times.
We are here because we want to be the voice of all those children
who are no longer with us in Gaza because they were slaughtered.
The former Slovenian government also recognised the state of Palestine.
But new Prime Minister Janez Janša had the Palestinian flag removed
from the Slovenian government building
as well as ending all measures against Israel.
