DREO are Unifying Your Smart Home at IFA 2026!

Well, I'm another year fatter, another year older, and another year with less hair on the top of my head. So join me over the next week as I take an in-depth look at some brands that you know, some brands that you don't, but all of which should absolutely blow your mind. Let's take a look. So a brand that I keep coming back to is Drio, and this is the biggest booth from Drio that I've ever seen at these events, and rightly so, because they've got a ton of brand new tech releasing for IFA 2026, and it is going to blow your socks off. Drio for me have always been one of the best fan technology brands out there. In fact, I own a bunch of Drio technology myself, including a turbo poly fan, which is just incredible. It's been a right luxury this summer where we've had six months of heat. Anyway, I digress. Let's move on and take a look at some of their new technology. So the first thing I want to showcase isn't actually physical products. Instead, it's an update to the way Drio works and unifies all of their devices into the app. Now historically, each individual device has been very much that in the app. You have to swipe through each individual device to control it, but the new app unifies them into a single view, and it does some incredibly powerful things. I'm going to take a look at this. So you can see that it's all now unified into this home shape, and you can see all of your devices placed around your home, and you can tap on any of them, and it then takes you into that room and then into that particular heater or fan or purifier or whatever it is you're looking at. But the real kind of beauty of it is, is it treats everything as one, so you have a lot of information along the bottom, such as the air quality, how much power everything is currently using or used in total, and you can go by room as well, so you can do living room or bedroom, and it unifies all those products together into one data board. You've also got this, which is the air pilot, and a bunch of AI options as well, and these AI options will allow you to do things like unify other sensors as well as the Drio fans to create a whole smart home and AI system that can adapt based on your home's data readings from the sensors inside the Drio devices. But it's time that we move on to physical products now, because this is one of Drio's brand new devices announced here at IFA 2026, and this one is the Air Purifier 530S, and it's got some incredible features. First of all, you have a giant LED ring on the inside, which can be used to show the air quality in the room as it pulls that air through it. So green will be good, blue is okay, red is very, very bad. But what's nice is that you can program this to any color you want, and you can set certain modes on it as well, and even do things like a breathing exercise with it too. So it's kind of got a lot of programmability with that, but one thing that I really quite like about this is that a lot of air purifiers tend to just suck air in from one particular location on the rear or on the front, whereas this has full 360 degree vents along the bottom to pull air in and up through the device, which means it's circulating that air and filtering it a lot more efficiently. Now they actually have a demonstration here, which is off, but I believe we caught it on camera just a minute ago, but this demonstration shows how quickly this system that Drio has made with the purifier can purify the air, because it has all that smoke in there, and within 20 seconds at most, that thing is empty, it's gone, it's purified all of that air. It's a really impressive piece of kit, and if air purifiers are your thing, it's definitely worth a look at this, it is top notch. It isn't my favorite release that Drio have made this year for Evo 2026, there's something else and it's quite special. So this is my favorite device they've just announced. This is the Whole Room Heater 720S, but what makes it special is this bit on the top, you can see it's going up and down like it's something from Doctor Who, a bit like the TARDIS, but the reason it does it is quite special. When it's up like this, it's able to heat the whole room, it's able to circulate it out of the vents on the underside of this tabletop almost, it comes out and it can heat the whole room and circulate that air, but that's all very well and good if you want a nice warm room overall, but what if you want a more directional approach? Well when this is lowered, instead it sends all of the air out of the vents at the front, making it a much more directional piece of kit. I think it's phenomenal that you have essentially two devices built into one, and it looks proper techy. When that thing rises up out of that, it catches your eye. It looks good, it works well, and it's two devices in one, and that is why this is my favorite announcement from DRIO at IFA 2026, but that isn't everything. Obviously we've seen the new AI, a new app system with unification, we've seen this, the Whole Room Heater, we've seen the Air Purifier, but DRIO have given me a little sneak peek at what's coming next. Come with me. That is lovely. This is a sneak peek at DRIO's new lineup, but there's one in particular I want to focus on, and it's this, the TOWERFAN 753S. Now very much like DRIO's other TOWERFAN, it has that kind of very tall aesthetic, sleek, nice, what's not to like about it? But I've always felt that TOWERFANS are missing something, in that you can't ever change the height of them. Well apparently DRIO felt the same, because now I can do this. This is so incredibly useful. It means that when you're placing it in areas such as at the end of your bed, traditionally with TOWERFANS, you might only be fanned by the top section of that fan, whereas now because this can rise up, you're going to get all of that effect onto the bed. It makes them much more useful, and I absolutely love that tiny little bit of engineering, but it's a real treat from DRIO, as always, to see them think about this and add it to their next lineup. Now another new device they're releasing is this thing, and I'm getting a sneak peek of it now, but this is one of their TOWERFANS with a built-in purifier on the bottom, which has been much needed and something that a lot of people like. Building fans and purifiers into the same package is something that DRIO needed to do and they've done it with this, and it's got an awesome LED ring along the bottom, again, with that signature style, which I absolutely love. Humidifiers, fans, purifiers, heaters, DRIO seems to do every form of smart climate control that you can possibly think of, and something else, kitchen implements. Now I'll be honest here, I did see these at IFA 2025, and I haven't actually used one, but it's really funny to see because they have that signature DRIO style that's friendly, homely, and it just shows that DRIO are thinking about other markets outside of the home climate system, but they've got these, which are the combifires, and then they've got these, which are the water purifiers as well, and I think they're pretty cool and a great addition to DRIO's lineup. Look, whether or not you are a fan of fans, you cannot possibly say that DRIO aren't innovating. They have got some incredible technology here at IFA 2026. I'm super excited to get my hands on that new AI system and the whole unification of all my DRIO devices. They cannot bring that out quick enough, so hurry up, but I love their hardware advancements as well. That new whole room heater is going to come in handy this winter, so I think I might have to get hold of one, but the air purifiers and the sneak peek at what's coming in 2027 has been incredible.
