This video demonstrates a unique method for propagating Phalaenopsis orchids using dormant buds from a spent flower stalk. By combining careful pruning, a homemade nutrient solution made from bread and honey, and a controlled growing environment, the creator successfully transforms a weak plant and two dormant buds into three healthy orchid plants.

From just one spent flower stalk, I propagated two healthy young orchid plants like these.
At first, this orchid looked quite weak, and the flower stalk had already dried up and
all the flowers had faded.
I noticed that the two dormant buds underneath were still healthy, so I decided to use them
for propagation.
I prepared a nutrient solution and growing medium to propagate the two dormant buds very
simply.
Watch until the end of the video to see the amazing transformation happen.
First, I cut off the old flower stalk to check each dormant bud.
I will completely remove any buds that are dry, shriveled, discolored, or no longer showing
signs of growth.
As you can see, the two dormant buds are still intact with their outer protective layers.
Healthy dormant buds have a chance to develop and produce new shoots, so I decided to propagate
these two buds.
I gently began peeling away the outer protective layer.
I did this very slowly and carefully to avoid damaging the dormant bud inside.
Next, I gently used a sharp knife to clean away the damaged tissue around the dormant
bud.
Removing each damaged part and keeping only the healthy and intact dormant bud, next I
cut off the yellow and wilted leaves at the base of the plant.
Any yellow, weak, or irrecoverable leaves are completely removed.
After cleaning, I checked the base of the plant and the growing medium in the pot.
I added a sufficient amount of pine bark to the pot to help secure the plant more firmly.
Next, I began preparing a simple nutrient solution from bread.
I tore a portion of bread into small pieces and put them into a clean jar.
I added 1 liter of warm water so the bread could soak evenly.
Stir well and let it steep until the water cools down.
While waiting for the mixture, I prepared the growing medium for propagation.
This time I used clay pellets as the growing medium.
I prepared half a liter of water and added a few drops of methylene blue.
Methylene blue helps control bacteria and fungi on cuts and wounds of the roots or stem,
helps protect the cuts after pruning or treating damaged areas.
Then I soaked the clay pellets for about 30 minutes.
When the bread had cooled, I filtered out the residue and pulp.
Next, I added 1 liter of water to dilute the solution.
Next, I added 1 tablespoon of honey.
Honey provides a natural source of sugar, helping create a favorable environment for
beneficial microorganisms to grow.
Stir the mixture well so that all the ingredients are evenly combined.
Then I poured the solution into a spray bottle.
I sprayed the solution evenly over the entire orchid, focusing on the leaves, stem, and
the area around the base, helping the solution make better contact with the plant's surface
and provide the necessary nutrients.
At the same time, it also helps create a favorable environment for the plant to recover and grow
more healthily.
After spraying, I continued to water the mixture evenly over the surface of the growing medium.
I watered slowly so that the mixture could soak evenly into the growing medium, allowing
the roots to quickly come into contact with the nutrients.
I used the remaining mixture to soak the two dormant buds for about 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, I took the two dormant buds out and dried them thoroughly.
Next I used cinnamon powder to dab the two cut ends of the flower stalk.
This helps keep the cut surfaces drier and cleaner before propagation.
Next I took the growing medium out of the disinfectant solution and let it drain completely.
Then I put the growing medium into a small transparent pot.
I placed the two dormant buds on top of the growing medium.
I adjusted them so that the dormant buds were facing upward.
Next I added a small amount of water to maintain moisture in the growing medium.
Finally I covered the pot with the lid.
The lid has ventilation holes to keep the inside well ventilated.
After about two months of consistent care, the orchid became healthy and sturdy again.
In particular, a small beautiful flower stalk had grown from the base of the leaves.
Even more surprisingly, the two dormant buds I propagated earlier had developed into two
young plants.
Both young plants were healthy and sturdy and had already developed roots firmly attached
to the flower stalk.
This is the result of using the two dormant buds from the spent orchid flower stalk.
I hope this propagation method will give you another useful way to propagate Phalaenopsis
orchids.
Thank you for watching the video until the end.
See you again in the next videos.
