AI GeneratedGeneral Keith Kellogg discusses U.S. military strikes near Karg Island and the broader strategy of economic strangulation against Iran to prevent nuclear proliferation. He also touches upon the geopolitical dynamics between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine, emphasizing Ukraine's future economic potential.
All right. As reported, U.S. fighter jets have carried out new strikes near Karg Island. So
joining us now, General Keith Kellogg, former U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine and
co-chair for the AFPI Center for American Security. Good for AFPI.
Keith Kellogg, welcome back. Not hitting Karg Island, but near Karg Island. Keith Kellogg,
what do you make of it? Yeah, Larry, it's good to be with you. I think it's great. I mean,
if you have an opportunity, sink all their ships or damage all their ships. That's what you want
to do. You have the economic strangulation going on. One thing I would caution everybody is an
event like this takes time, and everybody just needs to relax a little bit and let it run its
course. The fact is the president's doing something for our grandchildren and our children,
and they're not really being responsive at all because just kind of the way they are.
The biggest thing is we're trying to reduce their ability or eliminate their ability
to get a nuclear weapon. Look, here's what I would challenge the American people
to, is that they were enriching uranium at 90, 80 to 90 percent. Why are you doing that?
The only way you get to 80 percent, which is weapons grade, is to create a weapon
in the Middle East, a nuclear weapon. And they don't need to go there. Three to five percent
is the norm on something to work your hospitals or industrial strength, not 80 percent. So the
president was right about doing this. But I begin to think the American people are ADD.
They want something done right away. Well, the way it works with economic strangulation
is going to take some time, and he's got the right approach, and he's going to do it.
Taking out those ships is a military part of it. I think it's going to work out fine.
Will we take some retaliation with the Iranians? Sure, we will. We're going to get missiles back
at us. We're going to get drones back at us. But we need to accept that because it's a war,
and we'll finish it like we want to on our terms. You look, first of all,
Iran hasn't sold. They have no exports, zero oil sales, zero. Okay. So that's one point,
no oil dollars. Besson is closing down banks left and right. The latest today, as I'm sure you know,
is we're now closing down the airlines. Anybody who gets Iranian air flight, there's, I don't know,
27 Iranian airlines. I don't understand how a country like that can have 27. But whatever.
The point is, any country receiving those flights is probably going to go on our economic list,
they're going to be outside the dollar zone. So they can't hold out much longer. I mean,
some people are saying with the oil supplies dwindling, the stuff on the high seas,
I guess they were selling to China, that's only got about a month or six weeks left. I mean,
Keith, I think there is triangulation coming, and I think it's a brilliant policy.
Yeah, I agree with you, Larry. I think it's working. It takes some time to do it. I think
the resistance elements within Iran, the NCRI, people like that, are going to rise up eventually.
You've got theocratic leadership that doesn't want to give in. And I think before long,
they're going to say, you know, getting a beach house in Naples, Florida is probably a pretty
good idea, and get out of the country. And I think they're playing a losing game right now.
They have, they miscalculated with President Trump. They never met anybody like President Trump.
He's the first president that's ever done something like this. Look, and you hear the
Iranians saying, well, we don't even want the IAEA to come in and evaluate what we're doing
with nuclear capability. And they are going to do that.
Cannot trust them.
We can't accept that.
Cannot trust them. You cannot trust them at all. Keith, just 30 seconds. We don't know much about
the Putin-Trump phone call. It was one hour today, obviously about Ukraine. What do you make of it?
Well, I think we're making a big mistake in sort of catering to Putin and making the display like
he's winning. He's not winning. And I was in Ukraine three weeks ago, and it's a tough fight
for them, but they're doing quite well. The other part of it is Putin promises all these things
economically with Kirill Dmitriev. They're not there. You know that, and I know that.
But I'll tell you what's opening up. Ukraine is open for business if they go in there,
especially with precious metals and the defense industry. And I think we need to look that way,
because over time, they're going to become one of the most powerful countries in Europe.
They're going to surpass Poland. They're going to surpass Germany,
clearly surpass the United Kingdom. And we need our businesses to get in there now, not later.
All right. We'll see how it plays out. Anyway, General Keith Kellogg, as always,
we appreciate your insights. Thanks for coming on.
Folks, coming up, President Trump will be the prime.
