Hurricane Lowell passing Hawaii with winds, heavy rain, rough surf

A Category 2 hurricane with 110 mph winds has severely impacted Hawaii, particularly Kauai, where 33,100 customers are currently without power. A flood watch remains in effect, and while the storm has disrupted trade winds and brought heavy showers, conditions are expected to improve by tomorrow.
