Ernest Tomlinson (1924-2015) An English Overture

Originally called "Overture On Famous English Airs" before reverting to An English Overture, this piece was originally composed for the Foden's Brass Band with Harry Mortimer in mind. However Tomlinson changed his mind and transcribed the work for orchestra. Several well known English folksongs are played on this musical excursion "Old King Cole", "Over the Hills and Far Away", and "The Lincolnshire Poacher" to name but three.
