The creator demonstrates how to build a versatile foundation using a cohesive color palette of navy blue, burgundy, cream, and tan, utilizing 26 items to create over 30 different outfit combinations.
A capsule wardrobe is a great way to build a wardrobe foundation.
It is a curated collection of pieces that all mix and match together to build endless outfits.
Every season I put together two capsule wardrobes,
one that is for casual wear and one that is for work wear.
In this video I am sharing my casual fall capsule for fall 2025,
but stay tuned because next week I'll be sharing the work wear capsule.
And in case you're new to my channel and new to my blog,
everything I share is petite friendly.
Capsule wardrobes are often put together with color palettes.
That way you can make sure that everything in the capsule blends nicely together.
For this season's capsule I chose to go with navy blue,
shades of burgundy, and then for my neutrals I used cream and tan.
In this season's capsule I have included eight different tops
that go with four different styles of bottoms, four different jackets,
and four different kinds of shoes.
I also included four different accessories, one of them being a bag.
I use the same bag in every single outfit.
I also included a square scarf for a little bit of variety,
and then two different belts.
So all together there are 26 items that I used in this capsule wardrobe
and I styled over 30 outfits with them.
But of course the possibilities don't end there,
it's just a good start with the pieces.
And now for what I included and the different ways that I styled them within the outfits.
First up is a slim fit berry sweater.
This is from Quint.
It is a cotton and cashmere blend.
It has a nice slim fit.
It's also relatively lightweight, so it's not super warm for the start of fall.
It's overall true to size for petite.
It is a little bit long through the sleeves,
so you can tell in my styling that I cuffed it or pushed it back.
I also included a navy cashmere sweater.
This one is a little bit warmer than the berry sweater,
but it layers just the same.
It has a nice slim fit.
It can be tucked into the bottoms,
but you can also wear it over top of a button down.
This one is also from Quint.
It's overall true to size,
but again is a little bit long through the sleeves for petite.
This cropped floral top is from Anthropologie,
and it doesn't layer as nicely as some of the other pieces,
but it makes a nice statement.
And I think that a capsule can definitely benefit from lots of different basics,
but it's fun to have a statement piece as well.
A striped polo top in a berry and navy colorway.
This is from J.Crew.
It is overall true to size.
It definitely has a slim fit,
but you could still layer with this if you wanted to.
You can see in the capsule that I layered it over top of a white t-shirt as well.
A ruffle neck button down.
I chose this piece because the ruffle neck added a really nice detail
to layer underneath the pieces.
It's a great standalone top.
It is true to size and well fitted for petite.
It has a near tailored fit.
It's from J.Crew Factory, so it's also well priced.
I also included a white button down top.
A white button down top goes in almost every single one of my capsule wardrobes
because it is a true classic.
It's a nice piece to layer with.
It's a great standalone option,
and I love wearing it with a neck scarf,
which is new for me this season.
It's true to size.
I wear it in petite sizing.
It is well tailored.
It has a nice slim fit and is also from J.Crew Factory.
I added a long duster cardigan from Amazon in the capsule as well.
I didn't style it too many ways,
but there are definitely many possibilities,
especially at the beginning of the season
where the weather is still quite warm outside
and you just want like a medium weight layer.
This cardigan is a great option.
I wear it an extra small.
It's a little bit oversized on me,
and I definitely have to cuff the sleeves,
but overall for a piece from Amazon,
it fits well.
It's a good price,
and I'm wearing it in the color apricot,
which definitely doesn't look like the color online,
but I promise you it's the same color.
I chose a chunky v-neck sweater.
This is from Coins.
I'm wearing it an extra small,
which would be my true size.
It has a boxy oversized fit.
It's 100% organic cotton.
It's definitely relaxed and cozy.
I think it layers nicely and is a warm piece
that you can wear as it gets colder in the season.
I included four different jackets,
not because I think you need four jackets in your wardrobe,
but again, I wanted to show a little bit of variety
for different styles, different tastes.
The start of the fall season is pretty warm outside,
so I included two lightweight jackets,
and then it gets colder as we get further into the season,
so I included two coats.
The barn jacket is from Anthropologie.
It's petite sizing,
and it's very well fitted through the shoulders
and the sleeves.
This jacket is a swing style,
and so it's not very apparent in my photos
or on the Anthropologie website,
but this jacket has a pretty dramatic flare
at the bottom of it,
and the flare is more predominant from the back,
so when you turn to the side,
you can see it pop out in the back.
I love it, but it does have some mixed reviews,
so I just kind of wanted you to be aware
that that is how this jacket fits.
It's drapey, voluminous, and has a lot of extra fabric.
A cropped trench coat is very trendy this season.
This one is from Aritzia.
It's not petite sizing,
so it's a tiny bit long in the sleeves,
but it does have buckles on the sleeves,
so you could cinch them up
and then tighten it to your arm,
and it'll stay put.
It's a lightweight layer
that I really like to wear with sneakers.
A long camel coat is always a fall staple for me.
This one is from Banana Republic Factory.
It is the timeless coat.
It's a warm coat.
It's a coat that's gonna take you through
the entire fall and winter season.
It's well proportioned for petite,
has a great fit through the sleeves and the shoulders,
and in my true size,
there's still enough room to layer underneath of it.
I also included a burgundy cropped coat.
This is from J. Crew Factory.
It's true to size.
It has an excellent petite fit,
great fit through the sleeves and shoulders.
It's a swing style,
so it is voluminous and cut kind of wide at the bottom.
I think it's so cute.
It blends beautifully with all the capsule pieces,
and I went with four different bottoms
to show you a little bit of variety in the style,
more than the color overall.
Starting with a pair of straight jeans,
I chose the Bella straight jeans from Cointreau.
These have been a lot of my capsule wardrobes
because they tend to be the most popular jeans that I share.
I get the most feedback from my readers
that they're finding a good fit with them.
They find them very comfortable,
so I put them in a lot of my capsules.
They're true to size overall stretch denim.
They have a high rise right around 10 1⁄2 inches,
and then they come in inseam options.
I am wearing the 26 inch inseam here.
The wide leg jeans that I chose are from Madewell.
These are the perfect vintage wide leg jeans
in a pipestone wash.
I specified the wash
because the perfect vintage wide leg jeans
are different from wash to wash.
The pipestone wash has a very stretchy, comfortable fit.
They have a high rise 10 1⁄2 inches,
and in petite, they have a 28 inch inseam.
This 28 inch inseam buckles a little bit on me
with a pair of flats,
but still has enough length for me to wear it with boots.
So that's why I picked them for the capsule
because I felt like that length
is the most versatile length for me.
And I wanted to include either a flare or a bootcut,
and I also wanted to show a different color.
So I chose these flare corduroy pants from J.Crew.
They are true to size overall.
The corduroy is nice and thick.
It's warm and soft.
So they're not see-through at all.
They definitely don't have a lot of stretch.
And if you are similar in shape to me, I'm pear-shaped.
They are a little bit tight across my thighs and hips,
but they do definitely loosen up with wear.
They have a 29 inch inseam,
which only works on my height with a pair of heels.
But in the capsule,
you're gonna see that I only styled them with the boot.
And finally, I went with a suede skirt.
It's a faux suede skirt,
so you don't have to worry about it getting wet
or anything like that.
It's from J.Crew Factory.
It's fully lined, a beautiful fall color.
It runs a little bit small across the hips.
So if you are pear-shaped like I am,
I would recommend a size up.
If you're more narrow through your hips,
I think it's overall true to size.
I think it looks really cute with the knee-high boots
that I put in the capsule, as well as the ballet flat.
