ScreenCrush explores Avengers: Doomsday's plot. The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four unite across universes to face Doctor Doom. We analyzed seven post-credit scenes from the Multiverse Saga setting up this film. Discover how the Council of Kangs, the Ten Rings beacon, and the space crisis all lead to incursions and "Doomsday." We also explore Doctor Doom's connection to Tony Stark and how choices dictate multiversal paths. Don't miss this breakdown of the MCU, as it builds towards Secret Wars!
This video analyzes theories for *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Secret Wars*, suggesting the films will bridge the Infinity and Multiverse Sagas. It posits that Doctor Doom will emerge as the central antagonist, utilizing the power of Franklin Richards and multiversal instability to dismantle existence and eventually create Battleworld, forcing a massive alliance of Avengers, X-Men, and the Fantastic Four.
We have finally figured out the plot of Avengers Doomsday, and we know why the Avengers, the
X-Men, and the Fantastic Four are about to team up across universes to take on Doctor
Doom.
The Council of Kings, the Ten Rings Beacon, the Space Crisis, and more are all about to
come to a head.
Hey, welcome back to Screen Crush, I'm Colton Ogburn, and we have pinpointed seven post-credit
scenes from the multiverse saga that have perfectly set up exactly what will be happening
in Avengers Doomsday.
And hey, thanks to Rocket Money for sponsoring this video, more about them later.
By the way, Screen Crush is on all major podcasting platforms, and we have a merch store with
lots of fun designs that I cannot wait to tell you about a little later in the video.
Now, full disclaimer, we do not cover leaks here on the channel, Doug does not tolerate it.
Yeah, if you want a leak, do it at home, in that weird chair that humans use for some reason.
Yeah, and I do everything that I can to make sure that I don't see leaks, because one,
it makes writing theory videos almost impossible, and kind of boring if you already know everything.
But having said that, I do not consider set photos and videos that are shared by cast
and crew to be leaks, and I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I haven't seen
some of the publicly available social media posts by some cast and crew, posts that have
contributed to my thought process about the plot of the film.
Now, don't worry, I will issue a potential spoiler warning before I show you anything
like that.
So, let's get started.
This is the plot of Avengers Doomsday.
Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum.
So in an interview with the directors of the film, the Russo Brothers, they stated that
Tony's snap in Endgame is directly connected to Doctor Doom, and this is why RDJ was the
only actor that could play this version of Doom.
We think that this is a hint that Avengers Doomsday will have a cult open featuring Doom's
origin, and explaining why he looks like Tony Stark right from the jump.
Doomsday will open where the last Avengers movie ended, Tony's ultimate sacrifice.
And I am...
Now, something the multiverse saga has been doing is giving us a lot of new stuff that
feels like it's not as interconnected as the previous saga, but something I think that
Doomsday is going to do is finally begin to connect all of these dots.
And one thing that Doomsday is unfortunately going to be in desperate need of is a lot
of exposition, which I cannot stand.
But I really only hate exposition when it's noticeable and poorly done.
It also resulted in the president's electastrangement from his daughter, Dr. Betty Ross, Bruce Banner's
ex-girlfriend.
There are ways to make exposition work within the story without feeling like you're force-feeding
information to the audience, and Marvel has proven this with one of the most important
shows in this entire multiverse saga, What If.
Follow me and ponder the question, what if?
Each episode of What If opens with Uatu the Watcher explaining the history of the universe
or timeline that we're about to embark on a story within, and I think that is the perfect
way to kick off Doomsday and catch everyone up without it feeling like a previously on
the MCU.
Doomsday could open with Endgame's final battle and Tony snapping, but in the sky, we can
see the Watcher and he begins to narrate.
After Tony says, I am Iron Man, we can hear the Watcher say, but not in every universe.
The Watcher will then go on to remind us of the Avengers' big time heist to save the
universe, Tony's sacrifice, Steve's mission to return the stones, and deciding to stay
back in time with Peggy, and in doing so, that will also remind the audience about the
concept of splintering timelines, which remember was actually introduced in Endgame.
The infinity stones create what you experience as the flow of time.
Remove one of the stones, and that flow splits.
This is also when the Watcher can remind everyone of Loki escaping with the Tesseract, taking
over the TVA, learning about himself and becoming a hero, and making a sacrifice to save the
multiverse, and this reminder of a villain becoming a hero could perfectly lead into
the next step of the narration, the idea of a hero becoming the villain, reminding general
audiences who maybe haven't seen every single show and movie how this whole multiverse thing
works.
Now, one thing about this, it, it, hey, it, Doug, what's going on, I can't see!
Oh, I'm sorry, other guy, let me get those boxes for you.
There, is that better?
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm sorry about that, I've just been buying a bunch of stuff off the internet.
Aw, Doug, you have to stop spending money like this, I mean, I used to be the same way.
I always had trouble sticking to a budget and keeping track of my finances.
Like about a year ago, I realized that I was spending about $55 a month in subscriptions
that I had forgotten all about.
But how do you even find out?
Did you pay a lot of money to hire a team of financial experts to bust open the books
and tell you what was wrong?
No, man, I used Rocket Money, they're the sponsor of this video.
You see, Rocket Money is a personal finance app that lets you manage your subscriptions,
lower your bills, make a custom budget, and grow your savings all in one place.
Rocket Money has helped its members save up to $740 a year when you use all the app's
premium features.
They've also helped members save over $500 million in cancelled subscriptions.
Like right now, I am really trying to build up my savings, and Rocket Money is the perfect
tool to help me.
They automatically analyze your accounts to determine the best time to save, so I can
reach my goal faster.
I can choose my savings goal, the frequency, and watch my savings start to grow.
Rocket Money even scans my bills to find savings.

Now, back to what I was saying.
So in many ways, Avengers Doomsday is going to serve as a direct sequel to Avengers Endgame,
picking up not only on Tony's sacrifice, but also that concept of splintering realities
that was first introduced in Endgame.
We also think this could be the film that finally addresses this scene from Endgame.
Uh, my wife's expecting.
How far along is she?
Uh, I don't know.
In that scene, Tony looks very confused about his mom being pregnant at this time, almost
as if it doesn't add up with his birthday.
And this could be a hint that Tony Stark isn't actually a Stark, but was adopted by the Starks
as a baby, following them losing their biological child to a miscarriage.
If in a splintered timeline, Tony doesn't die and becomes one with the Infinity Stones
and his nano suit, he could become omnipotent like Infinity Ultron.
There are universes beyond my own.
The Watcher could explain that in that moment of Tony's snap, a splintered reality was created.
We of course have the one where Tony snaps and he dies.
But like Schrodinger's cat in the box, we could have a universe where Tony does not
die.
Now, in both universes, he receives this really gnarly face scar very reminiscent of Doomscar
in the comics.
Now, in this splintered reality, where he snapped but didn't die, he could become aware
of the fact that he is truly a Von Doom, and that in universes where he wasn't adopted
by the Starks, he actually realizes his true potential and becomes a far more powerful
being than Iron Man ever hoped of being, Doctor Doom.
But you know, I have to say, as cool as that might sound, I'm not crazy about the idea
of Doom just being evil Tony Stark, especially an evil Tony Stark that 99% of his history
is the same history as our Tony Stark.
I personally think it would be better if Doom is a Doom who was never adopted, who became
Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man as a result.
So, when the movie opens, the Watcher could remind us of Tony's snap in Endgame, but
then share with us that in another universe, someone else defeated Thanos, and someone
else snapped their fingers, Doctor Victor Von Doom.
A being so powerful with his tech and his sorcery that he was able to survive the snap
despite receiving some severe scarring.
But here's the catch, this Tony guy who died from the snap in our universe and this
Doom guy who survived the snap in his universe, they're the same guy, they just went very
different paths in life from birth.
But a multiversal constant that happens in almost every universe is that this guy always
snaps away Thanos.
And that is a perfect way to convey to the general audiences that maybe haven't seen
every single thing Marvel's been putting out, this entire theme of the multiverse saga
and that theme being choice, and how choices dictate on a multiversal level the person
that you've become.
And this would also show how the choices of others who came before you can also change
your entire course of life before you're even born, that of course playing into this
concept of free will that the Loki series tackled.
So remember, Avengers 5, which is now Doomsday, it was originally set to be Avengers The Kang
Dynasty.
Reportedly, we were going to see different teams of heroes going up against different
teams of Kang variants, specifically Immortus, Rama-Tut, and the Centurion that we met in
the post-credits scene of Quantumania.
They're beginning to touch the multiverse, and if we let them, they will take everything.
Now in that post-credits scene, when we hear Rama-Tut say
If it wasn't true, I wouldn't call you.
Must really eat you up that you're not the one who killed him.
It was assumed at the time that they were referring to the death of Kang the Conqueror
when he was sucked into his multiversal engine core at the end of that film.
But I think that was a misdirect.
I think they were actually referring to He Who Remains and his death at the hand of Sylvie.
And when Immortus comes in and says
He wasn't referring to the Ant family and their defeat of Kang,
he was referring to the people of the Sacred Timeline.
Yeah, you lost me.
Okay, so the Sacred Timeline, remember, that's the mainline MCU, Universe 616,
and Deadpool and Wolverine even labeled it as such here.
Universe 616 and the Sacred Timeline are one single universe, and within that universe,
there are parallel timelines that follow a strict storyline so that
they don't branch out or run into each other.
And when they do branch out, they are pruned.
You know what would happen if we didn't prune the timeline?
What?
Chaos.
Death.
And yes, it was established in What If Season 1 that more than one timeline
can exist within a single universe, and that universes and timelines are actually different
things.
And we have a whole video about how the Marvel multiverse works coming out soon,
so stay tuned for that.
Anyway, the Sacred Timeline, the universe that was overseen by He Who Remains,
it existed separate from the wider Marvel multiverse.
It didn't intertwine with any other universes and was completely a separate entity that had
been isolated away from all other realities.
He Who Remains says as much here.
Once I isolated our timeline, all I had to do was manage the flow of time
and prevent any further branches.
So the Sacred Timeline was essentially a universe that had been cloaked and hidden away from
the rest of the multiverse, and He Who Remains was able to keep it a secret by making sure
that no timeline from his universe branched beyond this red line that we've seen on the
TVA screens.
That red line represents the barrier between their universe and the rest of the multiverse.
And this is what kept Universe 616, the Sacred Timeline, safe from the Council of Kings.
But now with He Who Remains dead and the Sacred Timeline splintering, it began to...
Touch the multiverse.
Yeah, but didn't the Kang say they were talking about the Exiled One?
Yes, and that is because He Who Remains is the Exiled One.
The Kang the Conqueror from Quantumania who was banished to the 616 adjacent realm,
aka the Quantum Realm, that Kang would go on to become He Who Remains.
Now in Loki Season 2, we saw that the Sacred Timeline began to die when it started joining
the rest of the multiverse.
That is until Loki stepped in and formed a tree that could grow alongside the rest of
the multiverse, and its branches could intertwine freely with the forest of other multiversal
trees.
And this isn't just my theory.
Kate Herron, the director of Loki Season 1, has confirmed that this is how the Marvel
multiverse works.
And I think that Loki, at the center of time, holding the multiverse together, is connected
to the post-credit scene from Shang-Chi with the beacon within the Ten Rings.
What is it?
A beacon.
They're sending a message.
If you look closely, the beacon looks identical to this shot of the tree turned on its side
from the Loki 2 finale.
The Ten Rings are a map to Loki.
A map that the Avengers will use to get to Loki before doom.
So while Loki is doing his best, he's honestly in over his head.
He thought he bested the devil he knew by beating He Who Remains and allowing for the
Sacred Timeline to have free will and join the rest of the multiverse, but what he and
the TVA didn't seem to understand was just how cataclysmic and seemingly unlikely to
survive a multiverse is.
An ever-growing multiverse is destined to get so dense with universes that it collapses
on itself, aka the Big Crunch, the opposite of the Big Bang, and theoretically the Big
Crunch, a concentration of a lot of mass and energy in a single small space, would
cause a new Big Bang and give life to a new multiverse, which would begin the cycle all
over again.
And that is a concept that we were introduced to with Galactus in Fantastic Four First Steps.
Galactus is from a previous version of the multiverse.
So with He Who Remains gone and Loki holding the strands of time together, but not actually
controlling anything, the only overseers of the multiverse at this time would be that
Council of Kangs.
But for both in-universe reasons and real world reasons regarding Jonathan Major's
ouster, there's no need to talk about that.
Doom will now single-handedly deal with this Council of Kangs that would threaten his rule.
You know that scene in The Rise of Skywalker?
Somehow Palpatine returned.
No, not that one.
The one where Rey and Palpatine cause that big blast of lightning that kills Palpatine
and his arena full of sympathizers.
I think that that is what we could see or maybe even just hear about having happened
in the early moments of Doomsday when we're seeing Doom rip through his enemies across
existence.
I'd love to even learn that this particular Doom variant is a Doom that splinters from
Universe 616 and who was one of the beings that He Who Remains feared the most and part
of the reason he policed the sacred timeline so harshly to make sure that this Dr. Doom
guy never came into being.
I've theorized before that He Who Remains may have even written the storyline that resulted
in Victor Von Doom becoming Tony Stark that way he can never become the major threat that
Doom would be.
But now with He Who Remains gone and Loki letting things just happen, that Doom can
now come back into being and the Council of Kangs likely know how dangerous this Doom
is going to be and that he will come for them and the rest of the multiverse.
If we let them, they will take everything we built.
Okay, so we don't know much about the Council of Kangs and we likely never will.
If Doom successfully takes out the only remaining overseers of the multiverse, incursions will
follow.
Incursions being the colliding of worlds that can be expected in a multiverse that is allowed
to indefinitely expand.
Now in the post-credit scene for Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, we see Dr.
Strange recruited by Kleia.
Unless you're afraid.
At least.
So I would expect that Strange would have at least a minor role in Doomsday, maybe saved
toward the end, especially if he is off dealing with incursions.
Incursions likely being at the forefront of Doomsday and perhaps even what the Doomsday
title is referring to beyond just Dr. Doom, but the actual end of the world, the Doomsday
of the MCU.
Now in the Thunderbolts post-credit scene, we hear Yelena mention the space crisis.
And now there's this huge space crisis and no one's telling us about it.
We're running out of space already?
It's impossible.
This building is enormous.
Okay.
Now my assumption is that with all the universe hopping we've seen between the MCU and
other realities, we are seeing the MCU being torn at the seams via incursions.
We have the likely incursion that is brewing between Universe 838 and Universe 616.
And then there's that dying universe from Multiverse of Madness that could be bleeding
into the MCU.
And those would be the incursions that Kleia was referring to.
But also we've got the tear in space from the Marvels.
Now that resulted in Monica Rambeau getting stuck in the Deadpool-Fox X-Men universe.
You somehow crossed through a tear in space time.
You are now in a reality parallel to your own.
And Monica's presence in that universe will intensify the already lingering tear in space
that she closed in the Marvels.
And then there's the Fantastic Four who are also traveling from their universe, Universe
828, into the MCU's 616, likely causing yet another tear between realities, utilizing
Reed's multiversal travel that he talked about in First Steps.
This equation not only confirms alternate dimensions, but it suggests parallel Earths
exist on different dimensional planes.
Now with the Fantastic Four and the X-Men and the Avengers all from different universes
and crossing over, I'm reminded of the post-credit scene from Captain America Brave New World.
All you heroes protecting this world, do you think you're the only ones?
Do you think this is the only world?
The leader and his big brain were able to foresee the likelihood of the existence of
the multiverse and the war that would brew between these realities.
So that brings us to why we are seeing the Fantastic Four enter the MCU in that Thunderbolts
post-credit scene.
Well, the answer lies within the Fantastic Four post-credit scene where we saw Dr. Doom
in the flesh, having come for Franklin Richards, likely kidnapping him and using Franklin's
to the power cosmic, which we were introduced to in First Steps, a power so great that Franklin
is able to create entire universes with his mind, which will play a major role in Doomsday
and Secret Wars as well.
And hey guys, by the way, be sure to check out our merch store, screencrushmerch.com.
We have a great Fantastic Four inspired collection, as well as the I Hate You 3000 and many other
marvelous shirts for you to check out.
Link in the description below.
Okay, so let's recap.
We open with the introduction of Doom and his connection to Tony Stark.
We'll see him kidnap Franklin and book it across the multiverse.
The Fantastic Four will then rip through space after him and find themselves in the MCU.
There, we will see the New Avengers leap into action as the Fantastic Four's rocket lands
in the Hudson River, Sully style.
We'll also see Spider-Man swing in to investigate, and this is where the New Avengers and Spider-Man
will meet the Fantastic Four for the first time and invite them back to the tower to
talk.
Bucky will then call Sam Wilson, much to the chagrin of his other teammates, and echoing
how Tony called Cap at Infinity War despite them not being on good terms.
Thanos is coming, it doesn't matter who you're talking to or not.
Sam Wilson will then arrive with his own team of Avengers that he has assembled off screen.
Falcon, She-Hulk, Hulk-Hulk, and Shang-Chi.
And we have to have Walker or someone lament the fact that Sam's Avengers team has not
one but two Hulks, and how that's just unfair and that they should have a Hulk.
And that maybe they could even float the idea of getting Ross out of prison.
I'd also like to get some banter between Sam and maybe Alexei trying to recruit Spider-Man
to their respective teams.
But then after all that, the Fantastic Four will insist that they get down to business
on tracking down their son.
Reed will ask to use their computers, and he will track Franklin the same way that he
tracked the Silver Surfer via energy signatures.
Shang-Chi will then share what he knows about the multiverse after spending time with Wong
and having met Carol Danvers, who is likely trying to get Monica back from that other
universe.
Spider-Man will then chime in that he has dealt with the multiverse as well, and this
is when Wong will be brought in at the recommendation of Captain Marvel, who they are communicating
with via hologram.
So we will then see the Fantastic Four and both teams of Avengers travel to Karmataj
after picking up Miss Marvel along the way on Carol's recommendation.
And Miss Marvel's not just there to be there.
Her connection to the Bangles will play a huge role with the multiversal tearing and
the Ten Rings.
Once they arrive, Wong and Shang-Chi will share the Ten Rings beacon with the team,
and when they accompany the Ten Rings with Miss Marvel's Bangles, they will now have
a full map of how to get to this beacon, that beacon being prophesied as the man at the
end of time, and little do they know, it's Loki.
And that is when Thor will make his Wakanda-esque entrance like in Infinity War, but now at
the Karmataj, and he'll be accompanied by his adopted daughter, Love, who remember
was given life by Eternity.
She will have had a vision about Loki, Doom, and the end of the multiverse, resulting in
Thor bolting to Earth to assemble the Avengers to help him on his quest.
And he will quickly dispense with this argument between who is the true leader of the Avengers,
stating that he is clearly the leader.
So here's where I'm going to reference an interview with Alan Cumming, who plays
Nightcrawler, as well as a video from the set of Doomsday that was shared by a member
of the cast.
It's public knowledge at this point, but if you haven't seen it and you don't want
to know, here's your warning.
Still here?
Cool.
So, Alan Cumming, who plays Nightcrawler, he has slipped up and confirmed that he has
a scene fighting Reed Richards.
Who am I fighting with?
I said, you're fighting, you're hitting Pedro Pascal again.
And Chris Hemsworth, stunt double, has shared a video from onset of Doomsday where he is
at the TVA, specifically in the room right outside of where the loom resided.
And that was the last place that we saw Loki before he took his seat on the throne.
Now, in those set videos and photos accompanying Thor, we saw Falcon, John Walker, and the
Thing.
So this tells me that Thor will lead a team to find Loki at the end of time before Doom
can.
Wong will then bring in America Chavez, who has the ability to travel the multiverse,
and she will join Reed, who will lead a team to the X-Men universe, where they have tracked
Franklin and Doom to.
Miss Marvel will also join them at the request of Carol, because Carol thinks that that's
where Monica is, and now Carol is on her way to join them.
OK, so we've got one team going to Loki, we've got one team going to the X-Men universe,
and I assume that there will be a team that stays back in the 616 universe to essentially
hold down the fort and not leave their world unguarded.
Now, over in the X-Men universe, we'll see your standard heroes meeting for the first
time, so they have to fight, fight, followed by them realizing that they're on the same
side and they'll team up to stop Doom and save Franklin and attempt to save all realities,
not just their own.
But as I've theorized before, I think some X-Men and maybe even some other heroes will
defect and join Magneto, who we know is an isolationist and will have no patience for
saving other realities when his own universe is on the line.
So, he will move to attack universe 616 and destroy it in order to save themselves from
the incursion.
Remember, in Multiverse of Madness, Reed explains that the only way to save your universe from
an incursion is to destroy the other universe first.
An incursion occurs when the boundary between two universes erodes and they collide.
Destroying one or both entirely.
So, anyway, I think we'll see Doom escape the X-Men universe.
He'll make it to Loki's throne.
Meanwhile, we see Magneto attacking universe 616.
The heroes that are there on Earth are fighting Magneto.
When Doom ultimately does make it to Loki, he'll be met by Thor and the others who are
standing guard ready to protect Loki, but Doom will absolutely savage them.
Thor will hold out the longest and be the last one standing, but Doom will get the upper
hand and then we will see Reed and the other heroes storm into Loki's throne room.
But they're too late.
Doom has taken Loki's throne and we'll see Loki down on the ground holding Thor just
like Thor was holding Loki in Infinity War.
But don't worry, Thor's not dead.
Not yet.
And then Doomsday will ensue, the complete and intentional collapse of the multiverse
at the hand of Doctor Doom, utilizing his place on the throne and the power of Franklin
Richards, leaving nothing left in existence but the void, similar to what Cassandra Nova
was trying to do in Deadpool and Wolverine.
Doom will then put chunks of certain universes into the void and create Battleworld, just
like in the comics.
And the stage will then be set for Secret Wars to begin.
Or hey, at least that's what I think.
But I'd love to hear your thoughts and theories down in the comments below.
