Before Buc-ee’s, America Had HORNE’S! Only 1 Left! 🇺🇸

Vacay-J and Vacay-J “D” are back on the road, and this time we’re visiting a piece of American roadside history! 🇺🇸 Before Buc-ee’s became the king of the modern travel stop, Horne’s was a familiar sight for travelers across America. At its peak, Horne’s had around 60 locations spread across 15 states. Today, only ONE remains, and we’re stopping in Port Royal, Virginia, to experience it! Stepping inside feels like traveling back in time, with the classic counter, old-school stools, booths, nostalgic decor and souvenir shop. But you know us…we came hungry! We try Horne’s famous fried chicken, collard greens, mashed potatoes and one of the most unusual things we’ve eaten on Vacation Education: a WHOLE FRIED QUAIL! 🍗😳 Vacay-J “D” gets the honors of trying this tiny bird that almost looks like a miniature fried chicken. And we couldn’t leave without dessert, so we finish this roadside adventure with a HUGE old-fashioned banana split! 🍌🍨 Is Horne’s the Buc-ee’s of another generation?
