In this video, we'll recap the key points from Day 1 of our Oracle GoldenGate Classic Architecture weekend training session. We covered essential topics that form the foundation of GoldenGate understanding.
Introduction to GoldenGate Architecture
Oracle acquired GoldenGate in 2009, and until 2017, there was only one architecture. Now, we have two types:
1. Classic Architecture
2. Microservices Architecture (introduced in 2017)
Classic Architecture
• Command prompt-based
• Available for Oracle and non-Oracle platforms
• Uses Extract and Replicat processes
• Captures changes from database redo/archive logs
Microservices Architecture
• Introduced in 2017
• GUI-managed
• Available for cloud integration
• Currently supports only Oracle Databases

GoldenGate Data Flow
All processes work independently but rely on each other for data reading. The capture process is also known as the extract process.
Lab Setup and Installation
• Training VM has 12.2 Database and 19C Binaries
• Check certification matrix before installation
• Download GG from OTN
• Verify system requirements and supported platforms
