The video follows a couple on a road trip through Delaware who stop at Ellen and Midge's Famous Sausage House in Smyrna. This \"hole-in-the-wall\" establishment is praised for its authentic atmosphere, affordable prices, and high-quality breakfast items, specifically their signature sausages and a unique pork chop sandwich served on fresh bread.
It's a road trip day. I want a pork chop sandwich. Okay, bread on it or on the side? Pork chop
on some bread. He said what is that? There's a line out that door for some reason.
Welcome back to the channel. Laura and I are on a road trip today. She's driving. I'm videoing.
We were at the beach not too long ago. We passed this little sausage stand and that's where we're
going today because it was so unique. It was called Ellen's Sausage, right? I think so, yeah.
Let's just get there. You're going to pass cornfields. This place is out in the middle
of nowhere. Make sure you like, subscribe and click that notification bell and follow us on
instagram along dot four dot the dot journey. I did your line. Thank you. Let's fast forward
and when I say out in the middle of nowhere, this is in the state of Delaware, a small town
called Smyrna. Like I said, it's very small as I'm going to show you. All right, we're one mile away
here. I just wanted to show you. I'm pulling in where it's at and how close you are. It's
literally right off the highway. Welcome to Ellen's Sausage House. Breakfast, lunch, eat-in, take-out
and they specialize in their breakfast but that sausage is what you got to get here. See right
here is where you get off. I think this is route nine and you can see the sausage house here. It's
not much. It's that dive in the hole in the wall that you'll want. I'm going to tell you there's
not much seating in here but it is really cool inside. If you see the line, you know it's gonna
be good. Oh, I know what I'm getting with my breakfast. Chocolate milk. Yes, they have an Elvis
room. This is a zip. This whole room that you sit in, I think there's like four tables here. You can
see the hours that are Monday through Saturday, four to noon. All right, there's the sausage
sandwich. That's what I'm getting, a double with egg. They say if you only get the single, you're a
wussy. You just step up on the counter and here's where to order. Yeah, they got platters, home fries,
breakfast. There's a better shot of their whole menu. Something else that is really good is this
pork chop on white bread. You can see the kitchen. This is back in there. All right, hopefully I can
get this. I want a pork chop sandwich. Okay, bread on it or on the side? On it, a double egg and cheese,
no bun and then a single egg and cheese sandwich. On a roll? Yes, that one is. What is that?
Oh look, that's the pork chop. That's your pork chop? He said, what is that? I thought you were
pointing at the cheese. All right, so we have the pork chop, two links with an egg and an American cheese
and then a single with an egg and American. I think that's it, yeah. Do you need hot sauce for this or
anything? No, I don't think so. These guys are hard at work back here making this. I see the bacon.
Look at them sausages. Oh, it looks so good. The guy throwing it in the bag. The guy's been around since
83. That's so cool. All right, this is the Elvis room. Everything is decorated with Elvis. My wife
is an Elvis fan and I'm sure she is loving this. So cool. All right hon, open that. I got something
special in there. All right, Laura got the double sausage with egg and cheese. No bun. No bun and I
got the standard egg and cheese with sausage. But look at that sausage. Oh my god and the line
is literally out the door and look at this. This is one of their specialties that everybody said
and she even said, oh my god, I don't know. I'm eating all this. Laura's gonna have to eat this.
That's something I've never seen anywhere. It is a pork chop on some bread. I don't know how anybody could
even eat this on a sandwich. That's pork. Oh my god and it just falls right apart. That's insane.
All right, I gotta sit this down. It's hot. That's really good. It even got the bone in there.
It just pulls out. I'll tell you one thing. I've been amazed here. The staff is amazing.
I will tell you one thing. This is probably the best pork chop I've ever literally had on a
sandwich. Taste that piece. Amazing sandwich. We'll get to this sausage.
I want to know about this sausage because it's a sausage house. If it ain't good, I'd be
disappointed. There's a line out that door for some reason. Did you taste the sausage?
It's perfectly sweet slash spicy and you can tell it's fresh. So fresh.
Is the skin crunchy or is it like tender? Fall off the bone pork. My magnet keeps sticking to
my table. I'll tell you one thing. That looks like it's like homemade bread. It is so fresh
and I've never seen a piece that big and it's got that pork juice on there. I said I saw something
I never saw before. What? There's a sign in the bathroom that says stand a little closer. It's
shorter than you think. What's shorter? I'm not gonna explain it. And I don't know what the bread
is on that. That is a homemade roll. I'll tell you one thing. Diners, drive-ins and dives,
you gotta come here. I'll tell you that's the best darn pork chop ever. I mean I'm not just
saying that. This is worth the stop. If we got up real early, they'd be open. Yeah, they open at
4 a.m. I just got a overhead shot. But besides the Elvis theme that is all over this place,
it's really Helen and Midge's famous sausage sandwiches. All right, what'd you think about
Helen? And it's Helen and Midge's. They call it Helen's, but I tell you, what do you think?
It was amazing. I can't have a lot of bread, but I ate the bread. I think they bake that bread here.
Somebody bakes it fresh. And the rolls. Oh my gosh. And the prices were ridiculously cheap.
That pork chop on bread, you saw how big, was 10 bucks. Yeah. The sausage sandwich, I think,
for a single was seven. Yeah. You can't beat this place. Make sure you're coming, right? Yes.
Anything else? That's it. We got to head home. This was a road trip
in Delaware. We got to get to Pennsylvania. That's a wrap. Till next time. Maybe we can
bring you more of this stuff. I'm praying. I'm wishing on stars. We'll find each other.
