Alright guys, we're back with Troubleshooting here with Technivorous.
Today's issue is not being able to connect with your Arduino
to your 3D printer. As you can see here, I'm showing an error. It says
serial port avr dude stk 500 v2 underscore get sync. Not communicating
with programmer does not exist or your board is not connected. Now if I go
to my tools, port 3. This is my Genuino. It's actually a Mega.
And I can get the board info. It'll give me the serial number. It'll give me the PID.
It is connected. I can pull my camera over to the side here and show you the 3D printer it's
connected to. It's actually hooked up to the Technivore 1.0 right now. We were doing some
debugging and I came up with this error and it was a pretty simple fix so I wanted to show you
how to take care of it. This problem here is actually because the board is in use by another
program. So something else is communicating and it's causing, here's the full error here,
it's causing this timeout because something else is blocking the panel basically.
One of them being Pronterface. This one has a connection to COM 3 you can see right here
and that is going to interfere with the Arduino uploading my sketch.
I could hit upload now and show you. I also have Cura open. Cura isn't directly hooked to
3D printer I run normally but since I plugged the Arduino in it kind of automatically senses
it and grabs it and I found that Cura was preventing me from as well. So the basic way
to fix that is to, okay and then as you can see like I said I've now closed Cura. I've closed
Pronterface. The only thing that should be communicating with my board is Arduino here
and I'm betting that if I upload it's going to take a minute to make an error until I close
and reopen Arduino to make sure that it's got a secure connection. But it might go through so
let's see what happens. If not we'll shut her down and start again. Looks like it's uploading
so there you have it guys. A simple communication error. Easy to fix. Just make sure all your other
programs are closed and nothing else is trying to communicate with the device you're trying to
communicate with on that same port because it complicates things and it'll block the signal.
