To avoid forest fires and smoke in British Columbia, they decide to drive north toward Prince Rupert, stopping in Lillooet for the night to escape the heat.
Good morning everyone. I hope you're doing great. Oh my god, so much to talk about. So if you follow
me a little bit, you know that I was trying to, I will say that in fact, I will take a ferry between
Vancouver Island to Port Ardey and I will go beat my goal of going to Port Ardey this summer.
But I just had a phone call with the BC ferry agent. Everything is booked. So the way that it
is working is they book the ferry 100%. I thought I could just sneak, you know, last minute type of
no. They book everything and because my van is considered like an oversized van,
they are very limited on the amount that can go on those ferries. So everything is
until September for that ferry. And I was just to, because I have to take a ferry to Vancouver
Island and a ferry to Port Ardey and I was just about to go, sorry, I was just about to go take
that ferry this morning. The first ferry to go to Vancouver Island and now my plan changed. Oh my
God, my plan changed a sucker. So I do have my package. My package arrived yesterday.
I don't have to be in Vancouver. I don't have any more to, any more package. Everything,
everything is here. But this is what I've been looking right now.
This is the smoke map if you want of British Columbia and the rest of the Canada. So if you
like, this is Alberta. So Alberta, it seems to be kind of in a smoke, not too, too bad in some
areas. Some seem to be a little bit worse. Where I was with my friend when she lived, she lived like
right, right in the middle of all that smoke. And we are in Vancouver right here. So Port Ardey is
right here. Sorry, it's a little bit hard to focus with my screen. So yeah, right here.
And I was to take a ferry all along here. Fortunately, that's not going to happen.
So, oh my God, guys, I'm not sure. Are we, are we adventure here? There's a road kind of like
almost here, but I know it's got a big fire and some, some mess right here, guys, that we have to
drive quite fast and escape. So I think that's going to be the plan is to drive a little bit
faster. Some area that is got a lot of first fire and a lot of smoke and go up north because
based on the map, that's pretty much my only place that I can go.
Sorry, my focus is not the greatest. All right, there you go. So yeah, if I go to Vancouver Island,
which I don't really want right now because I'm going to spend the winter there, probably around
there. So I don't want to explore too much because I'm going to be there like in a couple months. So
I want to go, I want to go where I cannot go in the winter because going to have too much snow. So
yeah, I think we're going to do that. We're going to do a little portion of the drive today.
I'm not sure which direction I'm going to go, but because I have two, two road that I can take from
here. So we'll see which one I'm going to choose. And yeah, some portion, I guess we're going to
have to drive really fast and hopefully make it all the way to Prince Rupert like my plan was.
I'm not sure. We'll see. Look how beautiful this lake is. This lake is called Green Lake.
I wonder why. So all right, we're just going to stop for a minute here, just on the side of the
road. I see some car. Yeah, it's been a thirsting morning so far. So I just wanted to tell you
what's going on, what we're doing. So I'm going to take the road to Lillooet, which is a small
little town. I'm going to sleep tonight in the top of the mountain because it's supposed to get warm.
So yeah, hopefully we're going to find a camp spot. There are a lot of free camp spots there.
And I guess in the next couple weeks, days, I'm going to try to make it up north. And
yeah, maybe eventually at the end of the summer, I'm going to take the ferry back
if I can book something. But yeah. So this is the plan to just drive and try to escape
the heat and the smoke for a little bit. I think it's going to be a little bit challenging for the
next week or so to do all that. But yeah, we should should make it with a bunch of driving.
But yeah, definitely. It's so much like change. I was supposed to take the ferry with my friend
Joseph and Chrome this morning. And now I realize that, you know, I cannot like be on that ferry.
And yeah, things change like right away. So I think that was someone who hung at me.
Maybe a subscriber. So yeah, I'm going to drive a little bit. Beautiful drive. I've done this
drive several times. I love it. It is gorgeous there. So I'm going to share obviously the best
part of it. And yeah, we're going to find a place to camp for tonight. So we are just about to
take on the big hill. It's a big winding road. Should be all right with the van. It's going to
be a slow going up and hopefully the van is going to make it right. I'm sure. But finger crossed.
All right. So it was 15 minutes of uphill zigzag and all that. Made it. I'm just going to stay here
a little bit on the side of the road. I'm going to turn off the van. In fact, let the cool the
van cool down a little bit. And yeah, we almost like where I want to go for camping tonight.
It should be maybe another hour, not even. And yeah, so I'm going to let the van cool down a
little bit and have maybe a little water to drink and hanging again a little bit more.
All right, guys, this is the road here that we decided to stop here because I stopped a couple
like campground that I thought they were free. And I don't know if they change, they make them
pay campground or I don't know. I'm not quite sure. Usually the one that I used like was way
further up. But I knew that all those one here were also free or that's what I thought at least.
So I don't really feel to gamble and try the last one. I'm just going to sleep here tonight. It's
not a big deal. We should get to the shade almost in a couple of minutes now that. And I do have
the river. So right here we have the river. So I may find a little trail to go there later on.
But yeah, we just got to chill here for now. Feels so good to stop. Sorry about my hair.
It's just warm. So I just tidied them up. Yeah, it's nice to stop driving a little bit.
I've been driving for a while and I'm enjoying some some cold water from my fridge.
I'm going to do a review about that fridge probably in the next one video or two. I just
want to really like try it out to give you my first impression of the fridge. So that's why
I'm kind of waiting for it a little bit. But so far so good with the ice and the water.
It's been really great. I really like that new bench for Kelly because we can share the you know
the relaxing time together. I think guys I'm gonna let you with this. We're just gonna
relax here. My body's almost dying right now. And yeah, we're just gonna relax here. I think
I'm gonna go to bed quite early because I do want to get up early tomorrow morning.
And so thank you to join me on this little road trip with me. And you're probably gonna
see a couple of road trips in the next couple of days. Like I said to escape the heat and
the forest fire and all that craziness. We may have to drive a little bit faster than I
want. But yeah, that's what it is. So thank you to join me. And I will see you next time.
