After ascending to the highest points of the resort, the group explores deep, south-facing slopes to find the lightest snow, concluding the trip with a perfect day of blue skies and deep powder.
All right big day today we're driving up to Valle Nevado
and it's been snowing up here for the last three days
so we got like 50 plus centimeters up top
the cool thing too is that there is like so much snow down
on the drive which i've never seen before this is like the most snow i've
seen on my drive up so excited to go up and
get some of the maybe deepest days of snowboarding in Chile
that was deep over there it was deep we're gonna try to get to the very
highest point here at Valle Nevado and just explore all these like upper
zones where it's the coldest and the snow's the deepest
we've got the gondola station over here on the right we're gonna take like a
series of lifts and chairs to get to the very top
and then the resort is our oyster chris oh yeah
how deep do you think it is oh that's what we just went through it was like a
foot and a half dang foot and a half deep at least yeah
i wasn't prepared for that if anywhere in chile
this is definitely up there is one of the best zones
in all of south america one more pull then we're dropping in
hello
we just have to get to there's a cat track down there on the left
speed we just need to kind of maintain our speed
watch me and then uh like halfway down i'm gonna pull off to the side
i'm gonna try to ride on top of this ridge yeah i'll stop after this like
bush thing it's kind of unknown right like especially to see that little
shark in the middle there
yeah boy dude see how like over here was deeper
oh yeah yeah yeah we're gonna stay in the valley hug the right side in that's
the south facing slope which will have the best snow it'll be light
deep if we go to the left on the north face it's going to be
wet and heavy and kind of like melty so we might break through
you're the weatherman yeah i'm the weatherman on this on this mission
just taking a quick break got some pb and j sandwiches
water we like don't want to stop we want to keep going but
i feel like taking like 15 minutes to regroup
and uh replenish is like super important lowest we have like a pretty
sick run too so we need all the energy we can get
what's crazy out here too is that the ski day runs so long
the lifts don't close until like five o'clock so we still have a couple hours
left of riding i talked to a local dude he said that
today's the best day yesterday was okay but you couldn't see
anything i said what's the best of the three
he's like today yeah what i think we should do is like
drop in on it okay um and then this best snow is going to be
down in there it'll be super deep yeah we just like
roll over this and then it's going to be soft
as a wrap on the day today i feel like everything
came together perfectly had unbelievable powder with like the blue skies
you need that one perfect day to make the trip worth it
and it all came together today so i know i said this before but if you're on
the fence about doing a south america trip
i definitely recommend it because it's so unique it's so different
like hopefully you get powder days like this but even when it's a normal day
it's still like incredible just for the unique experience
