North Korea fears China becoming like itself more than anyone else. In this video, I argue that full “Koreanization” under Xi Jinping is impossible. A complete shift to hereditary rule, nationwide rationing, and total isolation would trigger fiscal collapse, destroy the tax base, and bankrupt the CCP’s already strained finances burdened by massive debt and 80 million payroll dependents.

While tighter controls and centralization (weak Koreanization) are already happening, the bureaucratic spoils system, complex modern economy, and deep dependence on global trade make the strong North Korean model suicidal. North Korea itself would be the first to starve if China pulled the plug. Ultimately, the CCP cannot unplug from the world economy it relies on for survival — it can only turn the “hospital” into a better-guarded prison.
