Happy Chinese Moon Festival Day! This is how we spent our Chinese Moon Festival and an introduction to the holiday. So what is Moon Festival Day? Festival Day, as known as Mooncake Festival, is celebrated across the Chinese culture countries. And it falls in mid-August lunar year, which is usually around September. And this year it falls on October 1st, which is today. And it is said to be the day when the moon is the fullest and brightest and roundest. As you all should know already, round is yuan in Chinese. And it symbolizes that a whole has been family gathering and stuff. So this is a very pretty and important holiday in Chinese culture. A love story is told on this holiday with different variations. One being very romantic and the other being not so positive. But both variations ended up with the moon goddess living in the moon forever. So on this day, some kids will watch the moon with a telescope to see if there is a moon goddess and a rabbit. But I've never tried it because I was raised in the West. And usually on this day, friends will go to an outdoor barbecue. But since I'm at this age, I value family more than friends. Okay, fine. I'm just a loner. I don't have any friends. So yeah, today it's just me and my mom. And we did grocery shopping for the whole morning. And usually people do outdoor barbecue with cold. But since it's just for two weeks from the moon, so this is what we got for today. Electronic barbecue set. So it's only 11 a.m. in the morning and we have had this all cleaned and washed. We need to wash and we need to clean things I don't know yet. I'm going to try it tonight. And we also decided to do an early barbecue because look at that. We want to barbecue on our beautiful balcony. And the sun is bright. It's perfect weather. The weather is great so we don't want to miss out on that. So maybe we will catch up some ---- as well. If you've been to any Asian countries you know that our staple food is either rice or noodles. But when we are doing barbecues we use this white toast. We sandwich the barbecue meat in it and it tastes really good. So this is what we have prepared for today. So this is our preparation for at home barbecue because it's way too hot outside. Our original plan is to barbecue on the balcony but it's way too hot. We will have TV barbecue instead. Yay! We just turned the heat on. This is huge. I can feel the heat already. It's pretty fast. You see the steam? Oh listen to this. It's starting to sizzle. Woah this is pretty pretty fast. Oh look at that steaming. It's really really fast. Look at that. Look at that. It's bubbling. Awesome. I can't wait to eat. The shrimp is jumping. The beef is jumping. Everything is jumping. This is awesome. What a Mid-Autumn Festival. This is the cooked beef. This is so good. Wow this is so rich. Where's your bowl? Wow this is so fast. This is so good. The shrimp is jumping. It scared me. I don't know what it was. I'm sorry but I'm going to eat this egg. It's hot. Oh it's jumping. This is a small octopus. Octopus? Octopus. No this octopus is burnt. Mine is already burnt. So I'm going to be the one who's going to be cooking today. I used to be late for Mid-Autumn Festival on purpose. So that people can compliment me for being late. I'm thinking about it. Where should I put it? Here. The chicken wings need to be cooked for a long time. Tomatoes need to be cooked for a long time too. Yes. The beef is so fast. This is the best part. I can cut it for you. This is so good.
