FILE: WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert to retire in December

The past 30 years have been about building the foundation. The next 30 are about scaling the game. Unlocking what's possible for the entirety of the women's basketball and women's sport. So- So do you feel that you're still the right voice and expect to continue to be commissioner beyond the CBA? Yeah, I certainly, that's another inaccurate statement out there that everybody agrees and thinks could fade on. Obviously, I've never been a quitter. I'm entering my 40th year actually this month in business. Never been a quitter, never shied away from tough situations. I think leadership, the cream always rises to the top. And I've always been someone who believes in the fact that we have, if there's things we need to fix, we're gonna fix them. If there are things the players have a perspective on that they don't like that we're doing or I'm doing, we'll fix them. So it is my honor to officially announce that the WNBA is expanding from our currently announced 15 teams to 18 teams over the next few years. So on behalf of the entire WNBA, I'm thrilled to welcome Cleveland and Detroit back and to welcome Philadelphia officially to the WNBA. Perfecto. We're ready.
