All right, folks, you know, today is really good
because, you know, sometimes it's kind of hard
to find the silver lining in life
when there's so many negative stories out there,
but I've been finding some.
Now, recently, three teenage boys from the UK
made international headlines
after they courageously saved a man's life.
Today, they're here to tell the story of what happened.
Please welcome Devontae, Sean, and Sammy.
Let me get you guys to introduce yourselves
and tell everybody how old you are.
I'm Devontae, and I'm 13.
I'm Sean, and I'm 13.
I'm Sammy, and I'm 15.
Okay, now, Devontae, tell us what happened.
Me, Sammy, and Sean was going to the shop,
and as we was going to the shop,
we have to go over a bridge.
We saw him on the other side of the bridge,
and then he had a rope around his neck,
and then me and Sammy was persuading him not to jump
while Sean ran off and he got help,
and then me and Sammy, we grabbed him,
and then he was just pulling back,
and it was just really scary.
Y'all grabbed him?
Yeah.
So he couldn't jump off the bridge?
Yeah.
I love these dudes.
I love these dudes, man.
So, who went to get help?
You ran to get help.
You two stayed there holding him?
So, were you saying anything to him?
Was he saying anything to you?
Yeah, he was just shaking, passing out.
It was all like that.
So, Sammy, were you worried about saying the wrong thing?
Yeah, I was worried.
I was crying.
I didn't want to see anyone die.
We told him that you have a family.
Don't do this.
You're young.
Yeah.
About how old was the guy?
Did you know?
He was 21.
He was 21?
Yeah.
Did you all think that he would actually listen to you
while you were trying to talk him out of it?
No, because we're just young boys.
Adults aren't gonna listen to young people.
So, you guys received an award for saving this man's life?
The Royal Humane Society, signed by the Queen.
Have you heard from the man or his family since?
Yeah, he did come to my house and he apologized
and he gave us a voucher, a $50 voucher.
Really?
Yeah.
So, you saved a guy's life and now he's okay?
Yeah.
Let me ask you something, man.
Before y'all got here, did y'all know who I was?
Yeah, I did.
Come on, boy.
Keep it real.
You don't understand.
I'm international, baby.
You better understand.
I'm a UK player.
I got a surprise for y'all, man.
Because I thought that you three guys
were just like amazing.
To save somebody's life, man.
How brave you have to be yourself
is like what's really cool to me.
You deserve a hero's reward.
So, Universal Parks and Resorts,
they celebrate fearless kids.
And since you've demonstrated a true act of being bold,
they're giving you all this swag to take home.
Let me bring this swag out right here.
Also sending you to Universal Studios Hollywood
with the front of the line passes
so you ain't gotta stand in line.
Harvey sent you up there.
Thank you, fellas.
Very much, man.
Thank you very much.
Please say hello to the members of Manish.
DJ, Vinny, and Lil G.
How y'all been, man?
Okay, remind me, how old are each one of you?
Six.
Six, eight.
How long y'all been rapping?
About a year and a half.
Who are some of your favorite artists?
Well, my favorite artist, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane,
and Lil G.
Rick Ross.
What about you, man?
Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars.
Chris Brown, Usher, Michael Jackson.
Who thought of the outfits, man?
Well, my mama.
My mama.
Yeah.
Yeah, when you get through being hard, your mama, yeah.
When you're not performing, what else you guys like to do?
I like to play football.
I like to sing it and play outside.
All right, what about you?
I like to play baseball and look at video games.
You play baseball and look at video games.
So who does your hair?
This is fascinating.
My mom and my dad.
Oh, your mom and your dad?
Yes.
Oh, okay.
You got the longest hair, huh?
Yes, sir.
Yeah, that's right.
Is that heavy?
Yeah.
How was that for you performing at the Apollo?
How'd you like it?
Like, it felt great.
I feel great.
I feel great, great, great.
Let me start with you.
Like, when you grow up, what do you wanna do?
I wanna be a baseball player.
Okay.
What about you?
I wanna be a singer.
Yeah, can you sing, though?
Yeah.
Okay, well, I mean, you're in a rap group, so.
Yeah.
What about you?
I wanna play football.
You wanna play football, yeah.
Now, let me, these watches y'all got on.
Ooh, yeah.
What's up, man?
You know, I mean, woo, woo, woo!
Boy, y'all out there, boy.
Thank you, Mr. Steve.
Huh?
Thank you.
No, you're welcome.
Let's say you had a million dollars.
A million dollars.
What would you do with a million dollars?
Live in a mansion.
Live in a mansion?
Buy my mama a house and my dad.
Buy your mama and daddy a house, that's good.
First, I gotta buy my mama and my dad a house
before I get, when I get that money.
In our house, yeah.
Yeah, you gonna have to,
because you owe them, right?
Because you stay in their house now, and that's good.
Always have that in your mind
to pay back your mom and your dad.
That's what I like about y'all.
So, y'all working on any new music?
We're just working on our EP.
So, like, y'all gonna have, like,
how many songs will be on that?
Five or six songs.
Yeah.
Y'all ain't got but one right now, huh?
I need a girlfriend.
Tell me where you at.
We got another song, too.
Y'all got another one?
We got some songs, but I don't know how many.
Yeah.
Well, I ain't heard but one is what I'm telling you.
Yeah, that's the one y'all did on the Apollo.
Yeah.
Can I tell y'all something?
Yeah.
Y'all my favorite dudes, man.
Y'all my favorite dudes.
You remember years ago when I hosted Showtime at the Apollo?
Well, we brought it back.
It's on Primetime now.
It's on Fox tonight on Fox.
Or it's gonna be on at Kraken tonight.
We'll be right back, everybody.
Has walked into the kid's room and stepped on a toy.
It's a wonderful experience.
It really is.
You get a lot of bonding time with your children
when that happens.
Well, lucky for them, my next guest has created
an invention to make sure that that doesn't happen.
And he's gonna tell us about it today.
Please welcome 10-year-old Colton.
Like this uniform, man.
How long you been a Cub Scout?
Around five years.
Five years.
I was in Pack 223.
That's, you one up with 224.
We wasn't close to each other or nothing.
It's just that's where I was, man.
Do you know the Cub Scout motto?
Yeah.
What is it?
Be prepared.
Yeah, be prepared is the Cub Scout motto.
The oath is different.
Yeah, the oath is when you stand up straight
and you put your two fingers up and then you do this.
Yeah, I remember that.
I promise to do my best, to do my duty.
On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty.
Man, I can't believe I still remember that.
Boy, I ain't said that.
Boy, come on, man, do it again.
On my all duties to God and my country
and to obey the Scout law.
To help other people at all times,
keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.
Yeah, a couple of that.
I remember that, man.
I can't believe I said it.
I promise to do my best.
Man, I ain't said that since I was a kid, man.
Tell me this, Colton.
How'd you come up with this invention, man?
Well, first I was kind of having a hard time
thinking of what I should make.
Then my mom said,
what's the thing that you don't like the most about it?
I mean, why did you have to try to make something?
Oh yeah, for my school's invention convention.
Invention convention?
Yep.
Okay, so you couldn't think of nothing, so what happened?
My mom said,
what do you not like about cleaning your room?
And I said, picking up my billions of Legos
that are all over my floor.
Yeah.
And then I made the Lego suit.
You made that?
Okay, so how does that work?
So, first you have a bunch of Legos, you know.
You put it down, you push down right here.
You just gotta,
and then you just dump it.
Man, you on your way to Shark Tank.
Oh, I see what you did.
You took, did you see what he did?
Hold this up.
Let me show you this.
This kid is thinking.
He took paint brushes,
cut the handles off of them,
put them on the wheel.
These are just paint brushes.
And they sweep it up.
That's really smart, man.
How long, how long did it take you to come up with this?
Right when my mom said it.
I'm like, oh, I know.
Just like that.
Come here, man.
I got a surprise for you.
Come here, come with me.
I wanna show you something.
You're a scout, probably.
Since you did this, man,
I got a little surprise for you.
About to come out that door right there.
The Lego Group is sending you home
with 16 sets of their classic lines
like Lego City to Star Wars.
Thanks for sharing your invention, man.
That's yours, buddy.
Yeah, all day.
Hey, if you got a kid who's come up
with a great invention,
let us know at SteveTV.com.
I'll put them on the show.
Yeah.
We'll be right back.
Please welcome Miles Brown.
What's up with you, man?
How you feeling?
Thank you.
Pleasure to meet you.
Grab a seat.
Hey, man.
Now, your fans know you as Baby Boogaloo.
How'd you get this nickname?
Well, I'm a dancer,
so when I was, I'd say, three or four,
I'd always go to these dance competitions
and these.
I was like, oh, God.
But.
Everybody do that.
You look over there and see your old picture,
oh, God.
But when I was like four,
I'd always go to these dance competitions
and I'd always see these dancers
and they'd always have their names
and I've always looked up to this group
on the show you all know, Soul Train,
and they were called the Electric Boogaloos.
And they were like my favorite group
and I used to always dance the way they used to dance,
so I was like, me and my dad were like,
why don't we call,
I call myself like Baby Boogaloo,
so that's how I pretty much came with the name
and the whole dance community just,
it just stuck ever since.
It just stuck, yeah.
Now look, man.
You're only 13 years old.
You're on the hit show with my boy,
Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross,
as your TV mom and dad.
What's your favorite thing about going to work?
Just being there and just having fun.
Like, you go up there and it's not,
it doesn't even feel like a job.
It just feels like you're just going to Disneyland
with your best friends every day.
Like, I get to hang out with Anthony and Tracee
and the rest of the kids, they're just,
they're really awesome and like,
just getting to balance schools
really is really awesome as well,
the way I get to do that.
Hey man, you've met some pretty awesome people.
You've met the Obamas, you've met Oprah,
Beyonce, Halle Berry.
Is there someone that you would love
to see guest star on Black-ish?
That would be really cool to have Barack Obama on the show.
Like, he could be, I don't know,
I don't know, like a cousin,
or he could be Anthony's cousin or something like that.
I can see that, I can see that.
See, you know what?
I can see that.
Because look, I mean, this dude is 13.
For eight years, his president was Barack Obama.
That's over half his life.
I wish he'd come on this show.
I mean, why not?
I heard that we missed each other last month
down at Disney Dreamers Academy.
I've been throwing this for 11 years,
and you came down there to speak
with a young group of kids.
Yeah, they were really awesome.
They were really inspiring,
and they were really great kids.
There was a lot of them, too.
There were a lot of kids over there.
Yeah, what I do every year,
I have, I think, 100 kids at Disney.
50 girls, 50 boys from around the country.
Let them explore their dreams.
That's outside of my mentoring camp,
but he was one of the speakers.
Man, they told me that you did
this pretty cool rap down there.
Yeah, I did a little poem that I wrote for them,
and it was really cool that they really liked it,
and hopefully had a good impact on it.
Can you do it?
All right, I'll do it.
Dream big.
Let's go, let's blow their minds.
If God came to support the show,
no way you losing.
You could do anything.
Doesn't have to revolve around fame.
I'm not done, I desire plenty.
That's why I dream big, to inspire many.
Yeah, we young, see, but we hungry.
Might be the next to control this whole country.
And if my reach is too far,
like whoever said the journey wouldn't be hard, right?
With great power comes great responsibility.
You need unlimited positive energy.
Like your best friend, who has your back?
Me and Steve, we go way back.
My man, ABC, we'll be right back.
My next guest is an eight-year-old hockey sensation
who went viral showing off his incredible skills
on the ice.
Check it out.
Wow.
Please welcome, all the way from Alaska,
eight-year-old Roman.
What's up, boy?
Well, what's up, man?
Yeah.
When'd you start playing hockey?
I started playing hockey when I was two years old.
I went on my first pair of skates when I was one.
And I'm a left wing, play for the Alaska Whalers,
and I think hockey's really-
The Alaska Whalers?
Oilers.
Oilers, okay.
Now, I watched him play hockey, man.
To play hockey, man, you gotta be like really, really tough.
You got like a game face when you're playing.
Yeah.
Let me see it.
Yeah.
I heard that the Pittsburgh Penguins invited you
to some of the games.
What was that like?
It was really cool.
I got to meet Sidney Crosby,
and my dad was freaking out
because Mario Lemieux touched his back.
How did you learn these skills?
My dad wakes me up in the morning,
and he started this program, a morning skate.
And we started doing other drills
from Facebook and online and Instagram,
and then we just copied it, and then I just-
You love hockey?
Yes, I love hockey.
Yeah, what about school?
You like school too?
No.
Gotta get an education, you know,
because you gotta be smart.
You gotta be able to read the contract.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
You're gonna sign this big contract one day.
You want to be able to read it
and understand that you can pick up stuff.
I got a question for you.
What's the question?
Would you ever play hockey?
Would I ever play hockey?
Yes.
Well, not if I want to work the next day.
Hey, man, you gonna show us some hockey moves today?
Yeah.
Show us something.
Let me see what you got.
Head on over there.
Since you're such a big hockey star,
you gotta play in style.
I want you to be stylish, right?
That's why I got you some official Steve hockey gear.
Right here.
Hey, man, listen.
I expect to see you on the ice in the NHL one day,
and you don't forget me, man, okay?
Turn around.
Thanks to Roman.
As you all know,
I celebrated my 61st birthday a couple of weeks ago,
and I got a lot of birthday messages
from friends and families,
but this message right here really kind of tickled me.
Take a look.
Happy birthday, Uncle Steve.
And Uncle Steve, is it my birthday?
Oh, yeah?
Is it your birthday?
Okay, every day?
Oh, yeah.
Well, I had to meet him.
So he's here today.
Find out more about him.
Please welcome six-year-old Ethan Johnson.
Where you from?
Where you live?
In America, Georgia.
America's Georgia?
Uh-huh.
Boy, you country, you won't be in here.
Boy, you ain't nothing but a little Steve Harvey
sitting over there.
I heard that you one of my biggest fans,
and you saw me on TV with a fancy suit on,
and you wanted to start your own business.
Well, tell me about that.
I saw you on TV, and I liked your suit.
I set my sights so I can go to college
so I can just like you.
So that's why you wanna go to college,
so you can get a good job and buy some suits?
Yes.
What about this too, Ethan?
Because let me tell you this, man.
You know what else gonna happen?
You keep wearing these suits and all this stuff.
You know what else gonna happen?
What?
Probably gonna wind up with a girlfriend, man.
No.
So you sell ties now.
And why do you sell ties?
So I can make money and go to college.
So you make money and go to college?
Yes.
So where do you sell the ties?
At the barber shop, online,
at school, in front of my house,
anywhere where they tell me.
I heard that you give some of the money to charity.
Mm-hmm.
Who?
The McDonald House.
The McDonald House?
Yes.
Wow.
Well, I think you're gonna make it, man,
because I think you're a smart little kid.
I think you're sharp and gonna get a girlfriend.
Ethan, we heard that your mom wanted to take you
to Legoland, but you guys didn't make it.
Y'all didn't make it to Legoland?
No.
She didn't even tell me.
Well, you know, sometimes moms,
because they work real hard,
they got a lot of responsibility.
Because moms have to pay for a lot of stuff.
She probably didn't tell you that
because she didn't want to disappoint you
in case they couldn't put the money together.
So I'm sorry to hear that,
but I got a little surprise for you.
Let me see if I got them right here.
I got some tickets.
We gonna send you and your mother to Legoland.
Experience the all-new Leg Castle Hotel
that's opening on April 27th.
You're gonna be the first one in there.
You're gonna get a chance to ride
that Lego City Deep Sea Adventure submarine ride
in this summer, too.
Ethan, how you like that?
Good.
I know that's right.
You keep selling them ties, man.
If you need some help,
come back on the show and talk to me, okay?
Okay.
I know your tickets, man.
Come on.
Good job.
You're a good kid, man.
Come on over here.
Thanks a lot, Ethan.
We'll be right back, everybody.
Everybody, listen, we're back with Self Talk.
We're gonna make a 15-year-old Trenton.
Now, the kid's been bullied his whole life
wanting to do hair,
but now he's getting the last laugh
because he's so good at it,
he's starting to make money off his skills.
And this is his very first hair show,
and it's on national TV.
Boy, you better come up.
So this is what we did.
Trenton worked with some women
who were having trouble with their wigs
and needed his help.
So your first client was Sonora.
So let's take a look at her before.
Okay, let's see what Trenton did for Sonora.
Come on out.
Okay, so Trenton, what did you do here?
So basically, what I did is I realized
that the wig needed a deep, deep conditioning treatment.
So I let it sit on there for about 30 minutes,
and then I went in, detangled it,
went in, and then I plucked.
You always wanna pluck the lace right here
so it lays nice and flat.
Oh, wait a minute.
That's the same wig as that?
Oh, yeah.
Mm-hmm.
That's the same wig.
Sonora, how do you feel?
I feel amazing.
It's great what a good wig can do for you, honey.
Wow.
You look absolutely fabulous.
Thank you, thank you, Steve.
Well, good.
Well, thank you very much, Sonora.
I appreciate it.
Thank you, Steve.
Well, next up is Chelsea.
Let's take a look at her before.
Okay, Chelsea, come on out.
Okay, now, Trenton, what did you do here?
So this wig is actually from my hair collection.
It was a brand new wig.
And what I did here is I went in
and I customized the hairline,
and I plucked the hairline.
I added some soft baby hairs
to give it a natural appearance.
Then I went in and did a custom lavender purple
that she has always wanted.
And I just wanna say this.
Chelsea is one of the reasons why I do what I do.
She is currently going under chemotherapy,
and she expressed how much she wanted this hair,
and I said, I'm just gonna go ahead
and give her one of my own.
So I created this for her, and this is it.
How do you feel?
I feel amazing.
I've always dreamed of having purple hair,
and he made my dreams come true, so.
Wow.
Yeah.
That's pretty good.
Thank you very much, Chelsea.
Thank you, darling.
Thank you.
Finally, everybody, we have Mitra.
Let's take a look at her before.
Okay, Mitra, come on out.
This is the biggest change that I've seen
in before and afters.
Trenton, what did you do here?
So with this one, this one was actually
one of the most challenging out of all of them.
It was shedding a lot.
So what I had to do is I had to go in
and use some freezing spray,
and I had to freeze all of the tracks that were in the wig
so that it would stop it from shedding.
Then I went in and did a deep shampoo and conditioner,
let the conditioner sit on there, plucked the part,
and then soaked it out and did that bomb blunt cut.
Great job, baby.
Wow.
Mitra, how do you feel?
I feel fabulous, Steve.
I know that's right.
Yes, honey.
Well, thank you, Mitra.
Hey, let's have the other two ladies join you.
Now, Trenton, I got one more thing for you.
We reached out to our friends at Sallie Beauty,
who have the largest assortments of hair color
and hair styling products anywhere.
Sallie Beauty wants you to continue to live out your dreams,
which is why they are giving you $20,000

a choice that you'll ever need.
Go in the school, boy.
Go buy some products.
Hey, Trenton, thank you for being here, man.
I've known you for a long time.
And ladies, enjoy your new looks.
We'll be right back, y'all.
