Hello Friends, I'm Sachin Shukla and you are watching A to Z Practicals
You will get all the practicals of 11th and 12th grade in this channel along with answers.
That means you don't have to wander around here and there.
You can print the same answer in your journal, or you can view and write it down.
And you can understand this practical in a very easy way
Friends, today I'm going to start Practical Number 9 of the 12th board.
To determine the heat of displacement of CuSO4 by zinc
By using copper sulfate and adding zinc to it, we will observe how much heat is released.
Is it an exothermic reaction?
Is the reaction exothermic or endothermic after adding zinc to copper sulfate solution?
This is what we need to determine here
As soon as we determine it, we will write down its answer.
But for that, friends, we have to carry it out in practice
That is Experiment No. 9 given in your 12th Chemistry Handbook
So I quickly start the experiment
For that, friends, I'm going to take a 0.2 molar copper sulfate solution.
Which is given to you and 1 gram is going to take zinc
So I quickly start the experiment.
For the experiment, a polythene bottle is required.
And what we have to do in this is
Add 25 ml of 0.2 molar copper sulfate solution
How much? 0.2 molar, 25 ml
You must be seeing the first point in front of me.
I'll take 25 ml here.
How much is this?
I will take 25 ml of copper sulfate.
And what will I do inside this plastic bottle?
I will transfer it.
So I have measured 25 ml of copper sulfate.
Now we have to measure its initial temperature.
For which a thermometer will be required
And friends, you know that the room temperature reading on the thermometer
It can be 29 to 30 degrees Celsius here.
Right now, the temperature in my room is showing 28 degrees Celsius.
So initial temperature means
If you place this thermometer in the copper sulfate solution
And whatever its temperature may be, it will come
If you measure it
So that is your initial temperature.
And that is your T1
What is your T1?
So after leaving it for a while
Whatever temperature comes, we will note it.
So that is your initial temperature.
So now this is doneafia
So let's take it out and see the initial temperature
So its initial temperature is basically
20
1, 2, 3
20
It is currently showing 26 degrees Celsius.
Its initial temperature is 26 degrees Celsius.
Now, friends, this is what we have to do
I need to weigh 1 gram of zinc.
So, friends, I have this zinc powder.
Now what I will do is
I will weigh 1 gram.
So if you want to put anything on it
Like I'm putting it here
So it shows its weight.
So what you have to do
You have to tear it apart.
Clear
As soon as you tear it
Its weight will be zero.
Now you have to take 1 gram of zinc.
So what will I do
I will weigh 1 gram of zinc powder here.
So basically, I will weigh 1 gram of zinc here.
I have weighed 1 gram of zinc.
You will also have to weigh it.
And you have to transfer this 1 gram of zinc.
You can see the point.
You have to transfer this 1 gram of zinc.
And close it here
And insert this thermometer into it
And you have to shake it a little
So what will happen by shaking?
Zinc and copper sulfate react with each other.
Displaces the copper
And let's see what's happening
So, friends, I can see here
That the temperature is rising
You can't see
This is basically the reaction between zinc and copper sulfate.
It is an exothermic reaction.
And here the temperature has risen.
2 degrees Celsius
That means it has increased from 26 to 29.
Sorry, it has gone up to 28.
So basically the T2 that is showing here
It will show you 28
I will tell you that this experiment
When you put copper sulfate in it
And insert the thermometer
At that time the temperature was 26.
And as soon as I put zinc in it
1 gram
So after that, the temperature has increased by 2 degrees.
Means the total T2 was our final temperature.
It reached 28 degrees Celsius.
So basically what we have to do now
You are looking at the open chart in front of me.
It's all written there.
What changes do you have to make?
You have to take 26 degrees Celsius instead of T1
And 28 degrees Celsius instead of T2
Later, if you want to remove delta T
You will do T2 minus T1
So our 2 degrees will come
And you are seeing below
You just have to put the value of 2 directly into it.
And you will get this reading
After that, what you have to do in the end
It is visible here
So basically, what is happening in this reaction?
Heat is evolving
That is called an exothermic reaction.
So, friends, if ever there is an exothermic reaction
So the value of delta H
Friends aren't writing negatively
It means you have to put the minus sign.
So many times examiners ask you
Why do you put the minus sign?
Because this is an exothermic reaction
Heat is released in an exothermic reaction.
Because you are observing that the temperature has risen by 2 degrees here
And as soon as the temperature has increased by 2 degrees
Friends, this is an exothermic reaction.
And the sign convention here will be minus.
So friends, this was practical
But let me tell you, I have one more channel
Chemistry Tadka
You can get practical information related to fun facts.
You can see the video playing next to me.
I have done this kind of practical on that channel.
Its name is Chemistry Tadka
I will provide its link in the description of this video.
So that friends, you go and go through that channel once.
If you liked it, then definitely watch all the videos
And share it with people
Thank you for watching this practical
Heat of displacement
Which I did using zinc and copper sulfate
If you liked it, then share it with more people
And I'm going to give you all the practicals for 11th and 12th.
