I Spent All Summer Carving This?

I've paid quite a lot for this piece of wood. So it's very important to cut it up to get the most figure out of the wood. And after looking at the sides, I decided that this way is the best way to go. Sometimes when I use the carving tools at the wrong angle, it can really bite onto the wood and put a lot of force onto the wood itself. And that is what happened here. So now I will have to glue this onto the stick again and continue tomorrow. Okay, so far so good. And as you see, this otter is going to hold a pearl. And for this project to be successful, I have to have the pearl fit really snugly around the otter's hands. And I think it would be a mistake to go ahead and completely finish the otter and then make the pearl. Because then I have no wiggle room to change the pose of the otter. So what I will do now is to try to pick an extraordinary piece of birch pearl or a pearl and make it up. Then I can put it in between the fingers of the otter and do some final adjustments before I go ahead and finish the otter. So I would call this a success. I'm pretty happy with how I made the hands fit around the pearl. But I would have preferred to have the pearl be a little bit further down so it's centered around the hands. The problem is that I have already pushed the otter's chest as far down as I can. So I think I will actually leave it as it is. And now let's do a little reveal of the two other otters. Hmm? I spent all summer on this project. And I have to say, it got a little bit chaotic and out of hand, but I managed to put all the parts together in the end. So after three months of work, I can finally say that this project is finished. And all the designs from it is available as templates on my Patreon.
