This time, I’m flying my friend’s Super Cub on amphibious floats to some remote alpine lakes to fish and camp. Canada’s landscape and lakes are truly wonders of the world. There’s nothing like a mountain lake escape to finish off the summer. One day when I can make it happen, i’d love to get floats for my Super Cub. Thanks Orca Floats and LightSpeed Aviation for making this video possible.

See you next time!

This time, I board a Super Cub on amphibious floats, packed a fishing rod, and enough gear
for a night alone in our beautiful Canadian landscapes.
There's nothing quite like the freedom of floatplane flying.
Welcome back to the Outside Sam YouTube channel.
On January 29, 1953, a North American B-25 Mitchell crashed into the snow-covered slopes
surrounding this particular lake.
It was a twin-engine bomber that had originally been built during the Second World War.
By the early 1950s, the B-25 was no longer the cutting-edge bomber it had once been,
but these aircraft were still being used by the Royal Canadian Air Force.
The flight was from Saskatoon to Vancouver, and the crew members encountered severe icing
before hitting the mountain.
According to later accounts, the B-25 was supposedly carrying around 1.6 million in
cash, along with gold allegedly connected to post-war Europe.
All crew members died, and the wreck still remains.
This video was made possible by my friends at Orca Floats, who kindly lent me their Super
Cub on their 2200 amphibs.
Orca Floats are designed right here in Squamish, British Columbia.
A few years ago, I had the pleasure of doing all the initial testing for these floats.
They're lightweight, rugged, and engineered with performance in mind.
The floats feature aluminum construction, replaceable UHMW bottom protection for rough
shorelines.
One of the biggest advantages is the attention to weight and efficiency.
The spreader bars are designed with a positive angle of attack to generate lift and help
produce drag during takeoff, helping the aircraft get onto step quickly.
Orca uses lightweight carbon fiber components, including the rudders and boarding steps,
helping keep the overall system light without sacrificing strength.
I think my favorite part is that the aluminum components of this kit are precision laser
cut, pre-drilled, which means the hard work of measuring and laying out hundreds of holes
has already been done for you.
Parts are designed to line up accurately, making the assembly process much more approachable
for any home builder.
So one of the biggest changes in my flying lately are my Lightspeed Zulu 4 headsets.
The active noise cancellation is really good.
Spending a whole day in a supercab, it really reduces fatigue.
I've been using Zulus for probably six, seven years now.
They're an awesome company, great customer support.
Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about them.
I've had bad luck in the past with other brands, but so far these have been great.
So yeah, check them out for yourself.
Now off to do some fishing.
Just a little guy.
The mosquitoes are aggressive this morning.
I'm having to walk around so they don't get me.
If you made it this far, thank you so much for watching.
I'm going to pack up my stuff here and then head on out of here to pick up my supercab.
Consider subscribing to the channel, it helps me a lot.
And yeah, it encourages me to make some more.
