China is rapidly expanding a secretive airbase in Xinjiang—and satellite images reveal some disturbing possibilities. In this episode of China Uncensored, we look at the massive expansion of Lop Nur Airbase, China’s sixth-generation fighters, stealth drones, the H-20 bomber, and what all this new military infrastructure could mean for Taiwan and the future of China’s military.

Satellite images have captured a disturbing image of China's Area 51.
They're building, fast.
But for what?
I'm not sure we're going to like the answer.
Welcome to China Uncensored, I'm Chris Chappell.
The Chinese Communist Party is expanding its military to make it a modern force
that can go toe-to-toe with the US.
This feels like a prelude to the worst Gundam series of all time.
And now we have an idea where the PLA might be testing some of its most
cutting-edge new aircraft.
Area 51!
No, not that Area 51.
I'm talking about Lop Nur Air Base in Xinjiang, also known as China's Area 51.
Because, like the one in Nevada, it's used to test experimental aircraft.
Don't even think about trying to storm into Lop Nur Naruto-style.
Just making a Japanese reference in China alone is already going to get you into trouble.
Back in 2020, Lop Nur Air Base was nothing more than a 3.1 mile runway
with a small hangar and a few scattered vehicles.
And that was just three years ago.
What's that, Shelley?
2020 was almost seven years ago?
Anyway, since then, the air base has massively expanded,
undergoing all sorts of upgrades, including the construction of four large hangars in the south,
at least two additional large hangars in the north,
along with a possible turnaround pad for hiding sensitive equipment,
a new taxiway extension, and possible fuel storage depots.
Though making it that obvious is like putting a sign that says,
Aim Missiles Here.
This tells us something.
China is a peace-loving nation that just wants to hold hands and sing kumbaya.
Or the base could be preparing to experiment with some powerful winged weapons in the near future.
Some Gundams are winged, just saying.
The base was already spotted hosting China's two 6th generation stealth fighters in 2025.
The J-36 and the J-XDS.
Which, despite how it sounds, is not the name of an off-brand Walkman.
You guys know what a Walkman is, right?
The 90s were only like 10 years ago.
But China could be experimenting with even bigger projects at Lop Nur.
A good clue to that is the size of its hangars.
The new hangars are similar to some of the ones at China's other secretive airbase in Xinjiang,
Malan Air Base, which hosts a ton of stealthy drones,
including some models as large as B-2 bombers like the J-GX and CH-7.
Those are China's biggest, most dangerous drones,
besides all the sycophants in the party Xi surrounds himself with.
Those are likely competitors to the US's stealthy, high-altitude,
long-endurance drone, the RQ-180, like the one you see here.
What an adorable murder kite.
What this means is that the CCP could be turning Lop Nur Air Base into a second Malan Air Base
to host even more experiments for future drones.
Or it could be destined for something even bigger.
Perhaps it will contribute to the development of the H-20,
China's first dedicated strategic stealth bomber.
And not the Halloween movie featuring LL Cool J.
This would make perfect sense,
since Lop Nur Air Base is not too far from Lop Nur Nuclear Base,
China's primary testing facility for nuclear weapons.
China first announced the H-20 back in 2016, and in 2024 promised to unveil it soon.
That hasn't happened yet.
It's stuck in a worse development hell than the MCU's Blade.
I can't use GTA 6 anymore since it looks like that's actually coming out.
According to US intelligence, in 2024,
China's H-20 stealth bomber may debut sometime in the next decade.
I can't tell if that's optimism or fear mongering.
But with all of the construction going on at Lop Nur Air Base,
perhaps it could help guarantee that the H-20 comes out sooner rather than later,
giving the CCP a nuclear bomber with a range of more than 10,000 kilometers,
or even possibly the entire globe with aerial refueling.
This would be a big help to China's nuclear triad,
which is getting more and more powerful by the day
thanks to China's ongoing improvements in land, air, and sea delivery systems.
The construction in Lop Nur Air Base, however,
may be doing more than just creating infrastructure for more R&D.
New taxiways, an aircraft turning pad, hangars, and a missile here fuel storage.
Those are all things that can help China launch
more tactical and strategic bombers at a faster rate.
In other words, these upgrades could help China conduct a massive attack on Taiwan
or wherever the Chinese military has its sights set.
The fact that China is doing all this construction while building up everything
from missile production and naval vessels to military installations,
satellite fleets, and more,
seems to indicate that China's preparing for a war they know is coming.
Because they're going to start it.
It's all the more reason why the US and its allies need to be even more prepared
to counter China's growing aerospace capabilities,
including its abilities to send manned and unmanned stealth bombers
across longer distances, and possibly Gundams.
