AI GeneratedThis tutorial demonstrates how to paint a minimalist scene of deer in the mist. The artist focuses on creating depth and a golden atmosphere by utilizing light gradients, strategic shadow placement based on a single light source, and blending techniques on damp paper to achieve a soft, ethereal effect.
Today I'm going to paint these deers in the mist using golden light and depth and minimalist
detail. So to start with a very light mixture of yellow and yellow ochre and brown. You notice I
leave the area where the sun is completely white, but in the distance it's a very light shade of
just some vague details of the castle in the distance and an outline of trees.
Adding the foregrounds just receding away into the mist.
For the shadows on the deers I mixed up Payne's Grey and Van Dyke Brown, painting it into slightly
damp paper so as it dries the shadows will get a nice diffuse effect.
For the angle of the shadows we need to notice where the sun is on the top left. So if you
imagine lines coming down from the sun the shadows need to follow the angle of those lines.
Now again into slightly damp paper, painting in the deers. So the ones further away a bit more
misty, the ones near the foreground darker and more sharp detail.
For the sun effect we need to knock out some of that sharp edge on the tree in the distance there.
So I'm just using a dry brush and some kitchen roll to just remove some of the paint.
For the final thing I use a ruler and putty rubber to just rub out some of the
lines for the light flare effect. There's the finished piece! So hopefully if you
learned something please feel free to leave a comment and subscribe. Thanks for watching!
