What's up, everyone? I'm Luciano.
And welcome to The Adventures of Polycommand.
In today's episode, I want to take a look at DC cameras.
It's another app, way different from Duet Display,
which is the one that we used last time, and I think it has major advantages over it.
And so I'm actually quite happy with it, but it has one big disadvantage.
And so that is one reason that you may
probably want to choose this one or the other one.
So remember to like and subscribe and let's get into it.
I'm going to start recording here so you
can get a sense of what's going on.
Recording 3, 2, 1, snap.
And now I'm just going to plug this guy.
So you need to run an app on the iPad and then you go directly into your PC and
make sure that the host app is running and you plug it in.
Now I get my desktop very quickly and you can see I have a little menu.
So what's cool about this and the bigger
difference between this one and Duet Display is that in reality, all it's doing,
it's copying your same screen to your iPad.
And so you can't use this one as a second
screen because you're kind of streaming the same screen.
You get to zoom into it, for instance.
So you can just move it like that and then
be more precise or you can just set the size.
Let's compare it to Duet Display.
What are the pros and the cons that it has?
The pros, basically, it's a one time purchase of something like $10.
It has this little palette of menus that works really well if you set it up.
Obviously, the latency is incredibly low.
Like to me, it honestly doesn't feel like it has any latency at all.
And also you have this option.
You can always scale it up and down and do whatever you want with the screen.
So you get to take more use of the available space.
Compared to that, the only thing where Duet
Display may be a little bit of a win is that with Duet Display,
you create a second screen so you can use your iPad as a second screen with it.
But the one time purchase version of Duet Display doesn't support the pen.
So there you go.
What are my thoughts about this, really?
OK, so people keep asking me if I have a PC and I need to start drawing on it,
like doing 3D animations, stuff like that.
Do I buy an iPad?
Do I buy a Wacom?
Do I buy a Huion or an XP-Pen?
I'd say it depends on your needs,
but don't buy an iPad if you're going to replace a Wacom or a Huion.
This solution, to me, it's a great solution if you can't have one of those.
I mean, this app is incredible, works really well.
But if your iPad purchasing is mainly to do this, then no.
What you want to do is you buy a Huion, an XP-Pen, a Wacom,
where you have a big screen, where everything is dedicated for it,
where it becomes a second screen, but it's a massive second screen.
And then the pen input is going to be great.
And you're not going to have any issues with it.
It's a tablet dedicated for drawing, really.
What's the downside of that?
It's a tablet dedicated for drawing, only that.
So in my case,
because I keep moving around from country to country,
having two things that do fairly similar stuff are not compatible
because they don't fit in my suitcase, and so I am using this as a drawing tablet
connected to the PC because I've already had the equipment.
I didn't buy the equipment with the sole
purpose of using it as a still take or whatever.
Right. And why is that?
Because the experience is never going to be as good on one or the other.
Like, for instance, you don't have a secondary button or a lot of people are like,
oh, well, I can't erase with back part of the pen or I don't have the two clicks
that normally you have, like in this pen, I have these two little clicks so I can use
it as a mouse very easily, like a left click, middle click, right click or something like that.
Right. I don't have that here.
And so, yeah, there's many good sides to this,
but it's not the right one if you want to buy one for your home where you'll be
doing your regular work.
So if you have your apartment, your house,
your whatever, you're not planning to move anytime soon.
You can get one of the big ones, put it on an arm, make it comfortable.
This is on the go work.
And if you already have it, fantastic.
If you don't, it's not the right way.
Also, compare the price of an iPad Pro with a Huion or a Thinpig or whatever.
An iPad Pro is really expensive.
If you get the new iPad Air, which also takes the pen and everything,
that's a better deal.
Something like six or seven hundred.
But if you compare that to a 22 inch Huion tablet,
that one is not even three or three hundred and fifty pounds.
So it's half the price for twice the screen and really dedicated to what you want.
And so I hope you like this video.
