Hi, I'm Lou with another episode of My Car Story. Today we're in Yuma, Arizona at the midnight at
the Oasis and I saw a car, well you just don't see this car at all. I'm with Don and Cheryl. Don,
your last name? Hall. Don, Hall and Cheryl, what year make and model is this one? This is a 1959
Ford Ranch Wagon. 1959 Ford Ranch Wagon. I'm going to grab the camera. It's a little windy out here
but we're going to move right to the back to the radio flyer. Now Cheryl, quick question for you.
You have driven this. What's the reaction when you're driving this? People stop and stare,
take pictures, videos, honk their horns. Come on with me. Now Don, when did you find this car?
2019. 2019. Seven years. Now were you looking for a Ranch Wagon or what happened? We were looking
for a Chevy Wagon. And why a 59? Love the tail lights. Yeah, the tail lights are classic. Right,
I got that. And then, but this, this came up? Is that what happened? This came up. We looked for
a 59 Chevy. Every one we found was overpriced or beat up. Okay. We found this one. Yeah,
let's show them how this works too. This opens up like so, that opens up and locks,
and you've got the time period correct luggage in here. How did you find this? Did this come
with the car or this was a lot of YouTube search or eBay searching? Oh no. Walking,
looking, magic stores, flea markets. Nice. Old-fashioned way. We got the spare tire under
there and some tools in the bottom. Okay. Got it. We'll show them how this comes back up.
I like the end of the rocket like tail lights here. And of course the fins for 59. Let's step
back from it because we've got the sun beaming on it. Come all the way back with me and we'll just
take that in. So I know we have a little bit of a modification that we'll see under the hood,
everything else looks like it came right from the factory. Wow. I'm for that look. Yes.
Don, have you ever seen another one? I have seen one and it was pretty rough shape. One. So the
two-door Ford 59 wagon. Good luck finding this. Come on with me. We'll take a look at the front
just before we go inside. Cheryl, you usually have a trailer on the back of this too, a time
period correct trailer. Yes. I call it the accessory. Who named it radio flyer? Don.
Good call, Don. Little red wagon. Really clean too. You've got the fender ornaments here as you
could see with the balls on them. The 59 grill. Very, very nice. All right. Let's, may I open it?
All right. Thank you. So when we open it, we obviously have just the one door.
Tell me about this interiors, everything. It, well, that kind of says it right there
that this is original interior. Everything in it's original except for the air conditioner,
cup holder and the carpet. They did not come out. And then you've got your
and seatbelts. Right. And that is the original mileage on the car. 87,000. Wow.
It looks just great. Did you put this in here? This little trailer break. Yeah. Yeah. The trailer
information, a flasher, emergency flasher. The technique with that. Yeah. The technically correct
air conditioning units. Nice. Where'd you find that? I'm not sure, but you can buy the vintage
stuff. Okay. And the correct Ford radio. I love the beach, not gum and the clove all time period.
Correct. You could see the wraparound windshield. Let me show people the back.
Got to watch your head coming out of it as I just showed you that while the roof line looks really
great. And then you just pull the seat up to sit in the back and the back windows come down.
Correct. Let me just show that like, so that is great. Wonderful car. Absolutely fantastic. Let
me just show that interior says the sun's hitting out one more time. All right, let's pop the hood.
Is that right? There's your hood release. I see. Here's where we have our one modification,
small modifications, but it makes it work. We've got the five old out of a 95 Mustang. Okay. Now
why the 95 Mustang you were sharing with me? There's the 94 and five have the electronic
overdrive transmission. Okay. Got it. You want the overdrive to bring the RPMs down and make
it more driving. Yeah. And it really kind of looks good in here. Let's fire it. Shall we?
If you didn't know what car it was, you just think you opened it up to it. Yeah.
You stuff that in there nicely.
Exhausting. Can you step on the brakes for a minute? Love those scallops there.
There's our taillights. That's got a nice little rumble to it.
One more time, Don. Body rock. Body rock on the wagon. It surprises people. Say that again.
It surprises people on the street. We did a peel out one time. Is that right?
Nice. All right. We'll shut that down. Guys stand right next to your car there.
Being in the car show, we didn't get the chance to take it for a ride and things like that,
but what a great car. Amazing. The fact that it looks so, so good. And I love the scallops in
the back. You were sharing, share with me one more thing about this where it says ranch wagon.
Tell me about the 59. We would have how many of those? If it was a car, it would have four of
them. Right. And it looked totally out of proportion in my mind. Right. But this looks
absolutely perfect. You've matched it tremendously. I love the quarter panel. Let's step back one more
time. Somebody I met enamored with your car and I just want to get that quarter panel shot right
there. The two best things, the wings and the taillights. Yes. My favorite parts of her. Let's
shut the hood if we can. I just want to get a real clean look on that. Thank you, Don.
It's a fun car, isn't it? It's a friend maker. We made friends today. I was, I was saying to
Cheryl, I said, it's a friend maker. She says, we made friends with you today. Yeah, exactly.
Let's take a look at that. But I want to get that shot right there that people will enjoy.
What a great car. What a great time. Yeah. And when we told the trailer driving down the freeway,
it's a lot of attention. Great car, guys. Thanks so much for being on My Car Story.
Thank you so much. You're welcome. Appreciate it.
