This message urges believers to prioritize their relationship with Jesus Christ over earthly pursuits. It emphasizes living with urgency, placing expectations in God rather than people, and avoiding the traps of complacency and religious busyness. Additionally, it asserts that Christ remains an unchanging healer today, accessible to all who approach Him with persistent faith.
Jeremiah 29 verse 13 and you will seek me and find me when you search for me
with all your heart. Beloved, if you seek the Lord, if you
search for him with all your heart, you will find him. We often spend so much
energy, we spend so much effort and time seeking things, seeking people, seeking
money. We expend a lot of energy seeking affection, seeking approval on all kinds
of things, things that are temporary, things that will pass away. But today
Saints, my message to you is that we need to seek Jesus Christ. Before you seek the
things of this earth, call on the name that is above every other name, the name
of Jesus Christ. I encourage you to seek protection under the Lion of the tribe
of Judah. Seek tranquility from the Prince of Peace. Seek God Almighty, the
one who is, who was, and who is to be. I encourage you to seek, to call, to chase
the one who commands millions of angels, the one who speaks and creates. Call on
the one who has the keys to life and death in his hands. So whatever situation
you face today, whatever circumstance or situation you're up against, God wants
you to call on him. Jeremiah 33 verse 3 says, call to me and I will answer you
and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Psalm 50 verse 15
says, call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you and you will honor me.
And so I want to encourage you. When you look at God's Word, when you look at his
promises, he says, trust me in your times of trouble and I will rescue you. He says,
abide in me and I will restore you. He says, come to me all who are weary and
heavy laden and I will give you rest. So let your hope be found in God. He has the
perfect solution each and every time. So call on him, whether it's day or night.
A pastor I know asked an older man on his deathbed, what's one of the most
sobering realities of life that comes to your mind for you right now? The old man
answered, the brevity of it. It's sure, it passes quickly and many people are hit
with that reality that life has passed by very quickly when it's too late. So
hear me clearly. Time does not wait on you. It will never wait on you. God
purposely gave you this one brief life. So make your time count. The number of
days you have on this earth should produce some kind of fruit for God's
purposes. You have lives to touch. You have unbelievers that you need to point
to Christ. You have a call to serve. You have assignments to fulfill with a due
date that you are not aware of. Let that not lead you to procrastination with
your deeds. Let it instead lead you to labor like the due date is today. Work
with urgency. Serve with urgency. Love with urgency. Pray with an urgency. Seek
God with an urgency. Every day really does count. Our lives will be judged one
day by our Father in heaven. And I mean everything. Every deed we've done or not
in our precious time on this earth will be held in account before God. This is
the knowledge we have now while there's something to be done about it. So do
something about it. Do all you can about it. The Bible says in James chapter 2
verse 14, what good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not
have the works? Can that faith save him? At the end of it all, our works will be
judged and tried by fire. They will be judged and tried by fire. Let's not
breeze through that statement. When that statement was made by Paul in first
Corinthians, the Corinthians knew exactly what it meant to be tried by fire. The
city of Corinth had been run through and devoured by flames itself. Everything
that could have possibly been consumed by the fire was consumed by it. The fire
tried the city, leaving only the great marble standing while everything else
was annihilated. This fire judged the city of Corinth in a definitive,
irreversible way. In the same way, our works will be judged by fire. It will
burn everything that can be burned and only that which is deemed worthy by God
will remain. So I am saying that only what we do for Christ and in Christ will
stand after the trial by fire. We have work to do and little time to do it. Now
more than ever, there needs to be a sense of urgency in our hearts that
leads to action. The thing about expectations is that sometimes we create
our own heartbreaks, our own disappointments. By misplacing our
expectations in people, the Bible tells you to love your neighbor as you love
yourself. It doesn't say love your neighbor as you love yourself and they
will love you back. You alone are responsible for the love that you give
to your neighbor, but you should not have any expectation that they will love you
back. You'll end up disappointed if you think people will do for you as you will
do for them. I read somewhere that once you remove expectation from people, you
will remove their power to hurt you. But what if what if misplaced expectations
on other people can work out for our good? They say experience is the best
teacher. So what if you placed high expectations on your family and friends,
but they let you down? Would that teach you to place your expectations in God?
What if you expected your boss to recognize you, to see your value and
your worth, but they never did? Would that teach you to place your expectation in
God? Or maybe you had an expectation that your wife can bring you joy, your
husband can make you happy. But the Bible says, may the God of hope fill you with
all joy, not your wife or husband, but God. The definition of expectation is that
it's a strong belief that something will happen. It's a belief that someone will
do something, someone should achieve something, they should deliver something
or uphold something. And with that in mind, your expectation, my expectation,
should be placed in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He has given us so many
promises for us to stand on and reach out in expectation. And let me tell you,
when God makes a promise, faith believes it, hope anticipates it, patience awaits
it. So what are some of the expectations we are to have? Well, one expectation we
should have is based on 2nd Corinthians 5 verse 17. Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, the new creation has come, the old has gone, the new is here. We should
expect to be transformed in Jesus. When you immerse yourself in God's Word, in
God's presence, and when you allow him to work in you and through you, your mind
is renewed, your character will be transformed, your desires will change,
your perspective will be different, because you will begin to walk by faith,
not by sight. When you place your expectation in God, you will be
transformed. When you place your expectation in the Lord, you will accept
that he is in control and every step you take, regardless of whether it makes
sense or not, every season you face, no matter how dark and how empty, it is all
in the plan of God. Many are the plans in the mind of man, but it is the purpose of
the Lord that will stand. Not everything will go as you expect in life. Many had
dreams of being a football player, but are teachers today. Many had dreams of
being doctors, but are working corporate jobs. Many had expectations of themselves
and still let themselves down. So what I'm trying to say is that any kind of
expectation that is not in God is misplaced. God is the only one that can
offer you unchanging, unconditional love. The Bible tells us that while we were
still sinners and had little knowledge of the love of God, Christ died for us.
In fact, his love is so great that in Romans 8 verse 38, I can say that I am
convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the
present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything
else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is
in Christ Jesus our Lord. There are five Bible verses that I believe we should be
speaking over ourselves when it comes to God's protection. And before I read
the word of the Lord, I would like to remind you not to place your faith and
hope in this world. A good diet and exercise alone is not enough to keep
your body protected against illness and disease. You need Jesus Christ, the chief
physician and master doctor. A security alarm or bolts and locks on the door is
not enough to protect your home from the attacks of the devil. You absolutely need
the blood of Jesus Christ to mark your home with his presence. Eight hours of
sleep, self-help books, and music aren't enough to give you peace of mind. You
need to hold on to Jesus Christ, the only one who can provide peace beyond
understanding. In summary, the point I'm trying to make is that we should rely
only on God Almighty. We should have faith only in God, Elohim. Have confidence
in him. He offers full protection, mind, body, soul, spirit. He offers you complete
and absolute protection when you are fully surrendered in faith to him. And so
here are five Bible verses that you should meditate on, promises of
protection that you should hold on to if ever you feel that you need reassurance.
Psalms 32 verse 7. You are my hiding place. You shall preserve me from trouble.
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Hebrews 13 verse 6. So we may
boldly say, the Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me? Isaiah
46 verse 4. Even to your old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made and I will bear. Even I will carry and will deliver you. Psalms 3 verse 3.
But you, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the one who lifts up my head.
Proverbs 18 verse 10. The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run
Oh, we love comfort. Whether you're a Christian or not, whether you're a pastor
or an atheist, whether you're a rock star or a janitor, we all love to be
comfortable. It's natural. It's human. But the danger in being comfortable, or
rather too comfortable, is that we get complacent so easily. Yes, so easily.
In this world, in your everyday life, including in your career, being
comfortable can very quickly lead you to be in the same box as being lazy. Because
if there's no fire in your belly to work hard for something, if you're not focused
and working towards something, then this leads to less success, less money, less
skill, less recognition. But in your Christian walk, being comfortable leads
to being lukewarm. We have to consciously choose to live with a fire in our hearts
for the Lord and know that everything we do is about that Jesus. Everything we do
is for Jesus. We have to. We must make sure that everything we do is unto Jesus.
Everything we do is to better our relationship with the Lord. It's to give
him glory and praise. Now, it won't always be comfortable to do this. There will be
times where it means you have to sacrifice. There will be times when you
will have to humble yourself. There will be times that you will have to serve. If
you're in a comfortable place, you'll be unable to do any of this. But if you have
that fire in your belly, that fire in your heart for God, then your attitude
will be one that says, Lord, wherever you lead me, I will follow. So remember, it's
a dangerous thing to be too comfortable as a child of God. It's not to say you
can't be comfortable, but rather don't let your comfort mean that working for God,
serving God, becomes an inconvenience. It should be a privilege to serve in the
kingdom of God. Being too comfortable means that you see it as an inconvenience.
And the final point of danger that I'd like to mention is being too busy for
God. It's a dangerous thing to become so busy that you cannot accommodate the
Lord in your schedule. People these days seem to think that being ridiculously
busy is somehow the way to be. It makes some people feel important, but there is
no merit to just being busy for the sake of being busy. There is also nothing to
gain spiritually if you're working all the time with no regard for your
spiritual life. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his
soul? This mindset is a distraction to the Christians' walk with God. There is
real danger in becoming too busy for God. Work, family, friends, hobbies,
relationships, whatever life may bring, there are a world of distractions
waiting for you in every corner of your mind. There are even people who can't see
that they're distracted because their busy work is actually religious work.
It's sad but prevalent in Christians to get caught up doing things for God while
not spending any time with God. The personal relationship is actually being
neglected while outwardly it looks like you're thriving because of religious
acts and work. I know of many Christians that do God's work but are actually
starving for spiritual food in their personal lives. God wants us to serve for
his purpose of course, but don't let anything, not even religious work, be a
distraction to your actual relationship with God. He wants your real heart, your
whole heart, and he wants it sincerely. Do you have a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ? Does the Lord still perform miracles? Can he still cause the blind to
see? Can he still cause the deaf to hear and the lame to walk? The underlying
question for you in all of this is, does God still heal? He certainly does. I
believe that the Lord still heals the blind and causes them to see. I believe
that Jesus can still speak to sickness in a person's body and command it to
leave. Saints, I truly believe the Lord still heals today in the same way and
according to the same standards that he did when he walked on this earth
thousands of years ago. The Bible says in Hebrews 13 verse 8, Jesus Christ is the
same yesterday, today, and forever. And this, I believe, is one of the most
important scriptures for every believer to remember because it means that Jesus
was a healer, is a healer, and he will forever be a healer. Our Lord does not
change. The same Jesus who cast out evil spirits can still cast them out today.
The same Jesus who freed those who were oppressed by demons can still free
anyone oppressed today. And the same Jesus who healed all that were sick can
still heal all today. The Bible says in Matthew 14 verse 35 to 36, And when the
men of that place recognized him, they sent around to all that region and
brought to him all who were sick and implored him that they might only touch
the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well. As many as
touched it were made well. Not some of them, not a few of them, as many as
touched it. Everyone who reached out in faith received healing. And you and I
could still touch the fringe of his garment through faith and be healed. We
could still be made perfectly well because the Word of God says in Mark 9
verse 23, If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. All
things are possible, not most things, all things, to him who believes. Think about
the woman with the issue of blood in Mark chapter 5. For 12 years she had
suffered, 12 years of bleeding, 12 years of visiting doctors, 12 years of spending
everything she had on treatments that didn't work. The Bible says she had
suffered much under many physicians and had spent all that she had and was no
better but rather grew worse. Twelve years. Can you imagine the exhaustion, the
humiliation, the hopelessness? Every human remedy had been tried and every one had
failed. She was physically depleted, financially ruined, socially outcast
because the law declared her unclean. No one could help her. But then she heard
about Jesus and something ignited inside her. Faith. She said to herself, If I can
just touch the hem of his garment, I will be healed. Not if I can get a private
appointment with him. Not if he lays hands on me. Just the hem, just the edge,
just a brush of his clothing. That's how much power she believed was in him. And
she pressed through the crowd, a crowd so thick that the disciples said, You see
the people pressed around you and you ask who touched you? But this woman's
touch was different. It was the touch of faith and the moment her fingers reached
the edge of his garment, the bleeding stopped instantly. Twelve years of
suffering ended in a single second because she believed. And Jesus turned
and said, Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your
suffering. That Jesus is the same Jesus today. He has not changed. His power has
not diminished. His compassion has not faded. He's the same yesterday, today and
forever. Think about blind Bartimaeus in Mark chapter 10, a blind beggar sitting
by the roadside. He had nothing. He could see nothing. He depended entirely on the
mercy of others for his daily survival. But when he heard that Jesus of Nazareth
was passing by, he cried out, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. The crowd
tried to silence him. They told him to be quiet. But Bartimaeus shouted all the
louder because a desperate man does not care about the crowd. A desperate man
only cares about reaching the healer. And Jesus stopped in the middle of the road,
surrounded by hundreds of people. He stopped for one blind man's cry. And he
said, What do you want me to do for you? And Bartimaeus said, Rabbi, I want to see.
And Jesus said, Go, your faith has healed you. And immediately he received his sight
and followed Jesus along the road. The same Jesus who stopped for Bartimaeus
will stop for you. The same compassion that turned his feet toward a blind beggar
is turned toward you right now. He still heals today. He still has power today.
The Bible says in Matthew 15 verse 30, And great crowds came to him, bringing
with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others.
And they put them at his feet, and he healed them. They put them at his feet,
and he healed them, not turned some away, not told others to come back later.
He healed them, every one. And so I encourage you today, bow down and
surrender to the one and only Son of God. Lay down your requests at the feet of the
and believe that he can do wonderful and miraculous things for you even now.
Think about the paralyzed man in Mark chapter 2. He didn't even get to Jesus
on his own, but he had four friends who believed. And those friends carried him
on a mat to the house where Jesus was teaching. But the crowd was so thick that
they couldn't get through the door. So what did they do? They climbed onto
the roof, they dug through the tiles, and they lowered their friend down
through the ceiling right in front of Jesus. And the Bible says that when Jesus
saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, Son, your sins are forgiven.
And then he said, Get up, take your mat, and walk. And the man stood up in front
of everyone, picked up his mat, and walked out. Jesus saw their faith, not
their theology, not their credentials, their faith. And he responded to it.
And that same Jesus is looking at your faith today, not at the size of your
problem, at the size of your faith. And if you can believe, all things are possible.
