What if a landed house in the heart of Singapore could feel like a private resort?

In this episode of Design Seed, we step inside Villa Urbano by HYLA Architects, an 8,000 sq ft Singapore home that completely rethinks the traditional landed house. Instead of placing the main living spaces on the ground floor, the architects moved them upstairs, creating a dramatic living and dining space surrounded by greenery, sky and an expansive swimming pool.

From its double-volume living room and central courtyard to its timber staircase, tropical landscaping and resort-like master bedroom, every detail is designed to make this urban home feel far removed from the city around it.

The material palette is deliberately restrained, combining board-form concrete, Burmese teak and silver travertine to create a calm backdrop for everyday life. More than just a beautiful Singapore house, Villa Urbano demonstrates how thoughtful architecture can completely change the way we experience a home.
