Hey guys, welcome back to my channel.
I'm Alexandra and I am so excited to show,
what, what do I say?
I've been doing this for seven years
and I still don't know.
Welcome back to my channel.
I'm Alexandra and today we are making over a bed.
And today we are making over an A-frame.
Oh my God, I keep doing the A-frame.
Today we are making over an A-frame bedroom.
I am so excited for you guys to see this one.
Let's get started.
We have so many amazing episodes coming up for you,
including your fave studio fix.
So make sure you hit that subscribe button.
Hitting a million is a goal for me and my team this year.
We can do it with your support.
It means so much and it is free.
It's just free to click that button.
Okay, let's hop on a call with Mo
and get to know her and her space.
Hi Mo.
Hi.
I'm so excited for you and congrats on winning a makeover.
Thank you.
Thank you for offering them.
This is so exciting.
It seems like you have a really cool space.
It's kind of like a loft with the slanted ceilings.
Just tell me about your space
and why I guess you applied for makeover.
My little bedroom feels like this sanctuary,
this little tree house.
It has so much natural light.
There's sunlights and a big window
and it opens out into my patio.
So I love the feeling of my room.
I love that it's a little quirky
because of the ceilings.
I love that it feels like a little place to come
and be nestled and rest at the end of the night.
So I think structurally, I'm excited about the space.
Okay.
The ceiling slant has also been a huge challenge for me.
Just figuring out how to organize my room
to get any sort of storage in.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
I think also storage in these kind of slanted spaces
can be tricky.
I'm looking here before and I'm like,
I don't know if any kind of wardrobe
is gonna fit in there.
I bought a bunch of Ikea dressers to put my clothes in.
There's bins underneath my bed,
but I have no hanging storage in my bedroom for clothes.
So keeping the under bed storage,
I think drawers is a great solve.
So just having some place for you to hang your clothes.
Yeah.
I'm leaning towards it's gonna have to be an open
storage situation, but wanted to get your thoughts on that.
No, I like that idea.
Totally open.
Okay.
Anything else you can think of
that you're currently lacking in your space?
Definitely like nice lighting.
Like I work in film.
So, I mean, I even more so hate the big light.
What about the fan on your ceiling?
Do you need to keep that?
Or do you want to replace it with another overhead light?
I'm totally open.
I do think because your ceilings look tall
and you have the slant,
like a beautiful big shade would look so good
in the summer.
Yes.
Amazing.
Let's move on to your inspo.
Retro disco nonna is like the way that I see this world.
What did you say?
Retro disco nonna?
Yeah.
I am absolutely obsessed.
Both of my nonnas have like such neat homes
filled with like lots of wood
and it's like beautiful tiles and it's beautiful texture.
And I just think it would be so beautiful
to lean into something that has this like depth
and richness because I'm not worried about it feeling dark.
When I think of depth and richness,
I often think of like a really beautiful paint color
on the wall.
Yeah.
Is that kind of where your mind is going?
And what color that comes to mind
that you're really drawn to that you can think of?
Most of my home is green.
I really like green.
Okay.
Like a warm yellowy green, kind of olive.
I, yeah, I'm seeing lots of woods.
I'm seeing these beautiful pops of green.
I also really love the burgundies.
Yeah.
I think about my grandparents' home
and they have a lot of these tones
and like either like a burnt orange or a rosy pink,
like a dusty rose.
Yeah, I love that.
But I do think it's, again, like striking that balance.
It's finding a color that is bright, but warm.
Leave it with me.
That's what you want.
I feel like I really understand the style.
I love that you labeled it retro disco nonna.
Like I'm absolutely obsessed.
There's a lot of nonnas within Team AG,
so I know people will appreciate this.
But yeah, I'll meet you on reveal day.
I'm so excited.
I honestly cannot wait to see what you come up with.
Yeah, this is so surreal.
Amazing.
Bye, Mo.
Bye.
Mo refers to her style as retro disco nonna.
Her inspo is filled with lots of earthy, warm tones,
greens, burgundies, wood tones.
She wants it to be warm and layered and comforting.
And I have the perfect plan in mind.
Here's what I'm thinking.
I was able to match the wall color from this inspo image,
and I am planning to color drench
all the walls in this color.
It's an olive green, but it's very muted.
And that's really key for this style
and what Mo has indicated that she wants.
It's also gonna keep the bedroom feeling really warm
and cozy without going like full dark and moody.
This A-frame shape is just like begging
for a statement light.
This one really screams disco nonna to me.
It's really just like an art piece.
It's going to provide her with lots of light,
but look like a piece of art hanging from the ceiling.
I'm gonna keep Mo's bed.
It's in really great shape.
She really likes it.
It's that warm wood tone that she loves.
But I'm gonna be bringing in lots of new furniture pieces
because we really have to prioritize storage.
A new dresser, a storage bench, a hanging clothing rack,
really just trying to fit storage
into every corner that I can.
My friends from J. Davis Painting are here
helping us paint out Mo's entire bedroom
in Grecian gold by Benjamin Moore.
If you've been watching for a while,
you know that J. Davis Painting describes themselves
as a five-star company in a two-star industry,
and I could not agree more.
At this point, we have worked with basically
every single one of their team members,
and I can confidently say they are all so lovely
and so thorough with the job.
They spend a lot of time prepping walls,
so like sanding and patching,
and then of course going in with primer if needed and paint.
If you are looking for a whole home refresh
or just a room refresh,
I would highly recommend J. Davis Painting.
Make sure to tell them that I sent you.
Hi guys, I'm getting ready to head to Mo's.
It's day one of our install, and I'm really excited,
but also these makeovers are so physically demanding,
and now that it's summer,
I'm just feeling like extra busy lately.
So I've been staying really consistent
with drinking AG1 Next Gen every morning.
They come in these really convenient travel packs,
so like on a makeover today,
I can either throw one in my bag
or just like easily make my drink.
Let's do that now.
One travel pack of AG1 Next Gen
delivers 75 plus ingredients,
covering your multivitamin, pre and probiotics,
superfoods, and more in one
clinically studied daily health drink.
Before drinking AG1,
I was truly just taking supplements
like purely based on vibes.
What I love about AG1
is that it fills commonly under consumed micronutrients,
and it is the best feeling
knowing that I'm filling nutrient gaps
to keep my body nourished.
There are so many benefits
of increasing my intake of vitamins
by drinking AG1 Next Gen,
but my personal favorites are gut health support
and immune health support.
It's truly the convenience that helps me stay consistent.
With these travel packs,
I either just throw them into my bag
and make my AG1 at work,
or if I'm on set.
I've also been traveling a lot recently
and have brought these along with me,
so I can just like stay consistent
and know I'm getting what my body needs.
Scan the QR code or click the link in my description box
to receive a free AG1 travel case.
You'll also get seven free AG1 travel packs
with your welcome kit on your first AG1 subscription order.
So be sure to go to drinkag1.com slash alexandragator.
This offer is while supplies last for a limited time only.
Thank you so much to AG1 for sponsoring today's video.
Let's head to Moe's.
I'm gonna bring my AG1 with me.
I'll see you there.
You guys, this bedroom is so beautiful,
even more beautiful in person.
So much light pouring through.
This paint color looks so good.
It's exactly what Moe was describing.
It's like warm and cozy.
I love how it's also a mix of like green tones
and gold tones.
It truly is so perfect.
Okay, we're gonna get right into it
and we're gonna start by adding some storage in here,
clothing storage specifically.
The A-frame is so cute.
It's like my dream to live in an A-frame cabin one day
as a cottage, not like permanently.
But the A-frame also means that there's not one wall
in here where we can put any like tall storage.
So I'm gonna be adding lots of clothes storage,
but Moe requested some hanging storage of some sort.
Enter my favorite croft hanger that makes your clothes
look like they belong in a store.
Ram used anchors to install this, so it's nice and secure.
The reason that this product works
is because you can mount it kind of unevenly.
Like you can make the string long or short.
It comes with a lot of slack.
This is kind of what I envisioned here
because I was like, how are we gonna add hanging storage?
But this is a great solution.
Moe asked me to replace the fan.
She has an air conditioner unit, so she doesn't need it.
And that's music to my ears.
We are bringing in like the definition of a statement light.
I'm so excited for you to see it.
Graham is gonna install.
This is how far my arms go up.
Here, why don't you go like this?
It gives me extra wingspan.
Yeah.
Oh, so close.
The thing about Mitzi is that they have lights
that are like works of art.
This looks so good.
So good.
And because this is like an A-frame,
everything kind of points to the light.
Like the light is very much the focal point of this room.
We're gonna add some clothes storage.
I'm bringing in a new dresser,
one that is suited more to Moe's style,
and it has nine drawers.
I wanted to find a dresser that filled a lot of the alcove,
and this one is perfect.
This piece is from Article.
I actually have this in my home as well, and I love it.
There is so much storage in this dresser.
So as well as dresser drawer storage,
I'm gonna be adding under bed storage.
I'm gonna do that tomorrow once we have the rug
and put the rug down.
So I'm gonna move on to a nightstand,
and this one has to be floating
so that Moe can actually access the drawers under the bed.
I've used this before, it's from Article,
and it's just so practical, so roomy.
Yes.
A bit more.
Oh, a bit more, okay.
Yeah.
And they're gonna be my clothes.
This feels wrong.
Something feels wrong here.
She's working on it.
Something's really wrong, and it's not me.
Okay.
Maybe it seemed like a short day to you,
but it is 5 p.m., so we're going home.
I'll see you guys tomorrow.
Bye.
One of the questions I get the most is,
can you help me with my space?
And if you guys didn't already know,
I actually have a virtual makeover consultation service
where my team and I makeover your space virtually.
We have worked with people who are doing
entire home renos, helping them shop for finishes
like tile and lighting.
We also work with clients who live in studio apartments.
You and I will hop on a 30-minute call,
so I really understand what you're looking for.
And then you end up with this amazing package
with a 3D mood board, a floor plan,
and products you can actually shop
right from within the package.
I work with a limited number of clients every month,
so if this sounds like a service you could benefit from,
you can purchase at the link in my description box
or go to alexandragator.com.
Hi, you guys.
I'm so excited to be back
because we are completing this room today.
We're decorating it, pulling it all together.
I'm going to start with a rug
because I want to get that under bed storage in.
So let's get the rug down.
It's going to be all hands on deck for this one.
Yeah, just have fun watching us struggle.
Hey, can you move your legs a bit?
Oh, I know, I know.
Mo loves the color burgundy,
and I love how much this complements
the beautiful olive green walls.
This color combo is so good.
Okay, so to bring the disco to Nona,
I'm layering this zebra rug on top.
It's faux zebra.
I love a layering moment,
and I love how the zebra pattern looks against the burgundy.
Complements it really well.
So now I'm going to bring in under bed storage.
We're going to give her four additional drawers.
These are a tried and true favorite from Article.
And that's just because they work for us
and the spaces we make over.
They're on wheels, these drawers,
so they're really easy to access.
And there is so much space in here.
Okay, a bench is a great way to bring in extra storage.
This one is from modernfurniture.ca.
There is so much storage.
Come look.
Oh, wow.
Wow.
Wow, is it comfy?
Your butt's kind of sticking out a little bit.
Yeah, I don't know if I can close it.
That's a lot of storage.
Okay, now it's time to make the bed.
This bedding is from Carblanc.
It is percale, which is so cooling,
and it just gets like softer with every wash.
The duvet insert is from Canadian Down and Feather.
I love these duvet inserts so much.
They're so fluffy and warm.
Okay, I love all the different colors
we're bringing into this bedroom.
They're all just like muted and warm,
which is exactly what Mo asked for.
These pillows are from Tonic Living,
and I've said a million times,
their inserts are just so comfy,
and they have so many different colors
and patterns to choose from.
Okay, this bed's looking real nice, real comfy,
which is always the goal.
We're gonna move on to a corner in this bedroom,
and I'm gonna be turning it into a reading nook,
so let's do that next.
So for a reading nook, you obviously need a comfy chair.
This one is from Article.
I love the color.
I would love to read a book up here.
All the lights.
Of course, we need shelves for books.
I've hung it kind of low because the outlet is here,
and I wanna put a light.
I've got those books here,
and I'm just gonna stack them in little piles.
I think it'll look relaxed and casual and cool.
This beautiful side table is from Mobilia,
and it fits perfectly right here.
Reading nook complete.
How cute is this?
We're gonna hang Roman shades next.
Again, we're going for color in here,
but it's very muted and soft, which I love.
These are from 3H Linen.
They're so pretty.
So Mo is having the issue that is currently happening.
These are skylight windows.
She does have a hook down here,
but the Roman shades are still gonna billow.
So of course, Graham came up with such a genius solution.
I'm gonna let him walk you through it.
Graham, take it away.
I really just took a two by four,
and I just cut some strips of wood from it,
painted the same green as the wall
for the Roman shades to just kind of rest on
rather than hang down.
This is just a very approachable DIY solution.
I just put some anchors in the walls,
just pre-drilled some holes,
and I'm just gonna secure it with some screws.
Okay, show me how this works.
Just like a regular Roman shade,
but instead of it coming straight down,
it's gonna go on an angle.
So great.
It kind of just goes down.
Gravity is still grabbing it,
but it's just going on the track.
This is so good for her
because it's also gonna be way darker.
Right, like it's almost like black, oh, I'm sorry.
Yeah, it's almost like a blackout situation.
Yeah, like I can barely see you guys.
Because it has like a seal on the edges.
Graham, that's so awesome.
And then this, I'm guessing, can just sit on the track.
Graham came up with this idea out of DIY.
You gotta put them before you,
sorry, literally in the dark.
Graham came up with this in a meeting,
and I could not visualize it.
I was like, a track?
And he was like, it'll just take me five minutes.
And it works, it's so great.
Took five minutes.
Okay, let's hang the next one.
I'm over in this corner now, and I'm gonna decorate it,
starting with a hanging piece of art.
Okay, it's done.
I've linked this piece of art below.
It's really beautiful.
But we actually took it out of the frame
and DIYed our own.
And this was very much in line with her inspo.
And I think it works really well here.
For a reading lamp, I'm putting this one here from Mitzi.
We got the texture and the shade, and then the curvy base.
Carla, I am gonna throw this to you, this cord.
I need you to.
Adding this cute little clock from HomeSense.
And that's this corner complete.
It's looking so good.
Okay, I can't believe I'm saying this,
but I think it is time for finishing touches.
I'm styling the bed with a big, fluffy lumbar pillow
from Tonic Living,
and a throw blanket at the end of the bed.
I'm adding this velvet storage pouf
from Pop Maison beside the bed
for even more storage for Mo.
I love this pouf so much.
Now I'm moving on to styling the dresser.
I'm starting with a chrome lamp that Mo already had.
I'm creating stacks of really cool coffee table books,
a candle,
and then a decorative chrome trinket.
I'm placing a burnt orange pillow on the reading chair,
and a drapey plant to the side table.
I'm hanging Mo's clothes on the hanging rack,
and placing a large basket for laundry.
I'm adding this beautiful floor plant to this corner,
and I'm finishing it all off with,
yeah, you guessed it, a disco ball.
Okay, it is the next day,
and it is time to bring Mo in for the reveal.
Okay, are you ready?
I'm so ready.
Mo, can you walk me through
what your bedroom looked like before?
I had a dresser over here.
I had my cute little checkered carpet in the middle.
Yeah.
It was lacking a little bit of personality.
The downstairs of your house has so much personality.
We wanted upstairs to match.
Okay, I want you to open your eyes
on the count of three, okay?
Okay.
One, two, three.
Oh, the door's leaning too.
Whoa, this is so beautiful.
Oh my God.
I'm so dead.
Also, it's green.
I know, I couldn't resist.
It's crazy how bright it is still with the painting.
Yeah.
It's so beautiful.
Oh, I just want to touch it for you.
Oh my God.
Oh my God, it really does feel like Nuna Retro.
Oh, especially like the little like satin on the lens.
Isn't the light crazy?
That's so cool.
This is going to be such a lovely space
to come to after all my crazy days.
Look at the cute little shelf.
That's incredible.
I'm like so happy.
This is wild.
I'm just mesmerized by how cool this is.
It's so perfect.
I'm so glad you like it.
Oh my God, thank you so much.
You're welcome.
I think my nunas would be so happy.
They might need to come over and see.
Snap.
I can't believe I get to keep this.
Like this is my apartment.
Next up on AGTV, we are making over a living room
that also needs to function as an at-home office.
We've got really cool cat furniture pieces
for all the cat lovers out there.
So I hope you'll tune in then.
And as always, I'll see you next time.
Bye.
It looks great.
Looks great.
And it opens and closes, soft close.
Soft close.
I also just like that I have my Christmas tree.
Can I fit in there?
Carla literally also did that.
Oh, thank you.
Okay, wow, we have really similar.
They're gonna be so happy.
