Hey guys, welcome back to my channel.
I'm Alexandra and you are watching Studio Fix, the series where I tackle teeny,
tiny apartments under 500 square feet and show you how to make them beautiful,
stylish, and organized.
He's clapping, he's clapping, he's clapping.
It's a little crooked.
Whoa.
I just think it's so funny that I'm doing this in my skirt.
I'm like so proud.
Stunning.
You got a makeover to do.
So wait, what?
I don't recognize it.
Oh my God.
Let's get started.
Before we get started, please consider hitting that subscribe button.
This is one of my most favorite Studio Fix episodes we have ever done.
And by growing my following on YouTube, it just means that I can keep doing
what I love and bringing you these amazing makeover transformations.
Today, I am helping Jayden makeover her tiny studio apartment, and she wants
this apartment to feel Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City inspired.
Are you kidding me?
I use my oven for storage.
So let's hop on a call with her, get to know her and her space.
So nice to meet you.
I'm so excited about your studio.
Me too.
I'm so excited.
We were so drawn to your studio because it really reminded us of like a studio
apartment you would find in New York City.
Yeah.
With all the brick.
It's so great.
That's my favorite part about it too.
It's just, yeah, it has that New York City feel and that's
something I'm so drawn towards.
I just think there is more that could be done to make it feel like home.
Talk to me about how the space functions, how you use it on a day-to-day basis
and like what's not working for you.
I moved in, in October.
I'm working on a clothing company and I'm doing a master's online.
So I do work at home a lot, but it is tiny.
I just don't have room for like a lot of stuff.
What is your storage like?
You have some clothes out on display, but do you have closets?
There's like a front closet.
So that's where I put my coats.
But because I work at the clothing company, I've been accumulating
a lot of clothes recently.
And I have nowhere to put them.
If we were to do some under bed drawers and then maybe like an open clothing
rack, but like you really have the stuff that you like on display.
And then the other stuff can be tucked away.
Would that, would that work for you?
Totally.
Yeah, that would be much better.
I think.
What other storage are you in need of?
I would say like kitchen storage.
Like I have an island, but it doesn't have any storage in it.
So nothing can really be put underneath there.
It's just simply used for cooking.
Okay.
I steer away from like buying spices and stuff like that.
Cause I'm like, I don't have any room.
Do you sit exclusively on the island to eat or are you also like
on your sofa in front of the TV?
I'm a sofa girl, honestly.
Like for breakfast, I'll sit at the table.
Okay.
Dinner.
I'm watching TV and eating, but the couch is extremely uncomfortable.
I got it off Facebook marketplace and it has like no cushion to it.
So that's like one thing that I would love to look into something else for.
I was wondering too, like if there would be space to have more
seating, cause I do host a lot.
Like my friends, I usually will have them over before we go out or go
to dinner or something like that.
It would be nice to have like a proper living room where like
more than two people can like sit.
I think we have to get like crafty.
Yeah, totally.
I noticed that you have a couple of boob lights in your ceiling.
What kind of lighting is there at night?
It's really bad.
Like the light itself is really bad.
So I have like a tiny sunset lamp.
So I feel like I'm sitting in the dark with like a tinge of orange.
I don't know how you're getting any studying done, like in your
blood with a little sunset lamp.
I'd be like, well, I'm going to bed.
I know, I know.
That's the thing.
Okay.
Let's move on to your inspo.
So these are the images that you submitted.
I just love the overall feel of these.
Like, I feel like it's very city apartment, kind of just like
girl living on her own apartment.
I love all the cool black and white photos and just like neutral
colors, the creams and all of that.
And then for the pops of color, I love green.
I'm also noticing a lot of brown furniture, like leather.
Yeah.
It's not like clean girl necessarily.
It's like clean girl aesthetic, but like cozy.
Yeah, exactly.
Yes.
Okay.
I'm a big nineties New Yorker.
Like get a lot of inspo from like Carrie Bradshaw.
Like her apartment is like, I love that apartment.
I love that.
I feel like I just want to feel like an adult.
Like I want to be like, this is my space.
This is what I have for myself working out.
It's supposed to, it's cohesive.
I love your apartment so much and we're going to make
it really special for you.
I'm so excited to see it come to its full potential.
Amazing.
Thank you so much.
It was so nice to meet you and I'll meet you in person on reveal day.
I'm so excited.
Thank you so much.
This is the best.
Bye.
Jayden's inspo is very neutral, but really, really warm at the same time.
It's giving cool girl who lives in New York city, except it's
in the city of Toronto.
So here's what I'm thinking.
I need to bring in a lot more storage.
Jayden has one tiny little closet and a lot of clothes.
So I want to bring in a bed that is stylish, but also has storage underneath.
I'm thinking a lift top bed.
I want to use a dresser instead of your traditional media unit so that
she can store folded clothes in there.
I also want to paint out her kitchen cabinets in a beautiful warm green color.
I feel like this is still a neutral, but gives her that pop of
green that she said she loved.
I'm thinking I want to keep the layout as is.
This is a tiny space.
There's really not a lot of room to do a layout change, but I really
want to pick pieces that are both super functional and really
stylish at the same time.
Painting is such a huge part of this makeover.
The walls are in such terrible condition.
I don't know if you guys can tell by the befores, but there's like water damage.
There are so many holes in the walls.
There's so many like random nails in the walls.
It feels as if these walls have not been patched or
painted in like over a decade.
So Graham and I are heading to Jayden's now, and we are going to start
bringing these walls back to life.
Hi everyone.
We are at Jayden's and Graham and I are here.
We are going to be painting the studio apartment today.
The first thing I thought when I got into this apartment was, um, so cute,
but needs a lot of TLC and it makes me sad because there's these like gems
of apartments in Toronto and when landlords just kind of like leave them to die.
I don't know.
It makes me, it makes me sad, but that's okay, but that's why we're here.
And I can't explain the feeling I get when I walk into a space and I'm like,
this has good bones and I can see it all come together even before we started.
It's like the best feeling.
Graham and I are just taking out screws that were left in the wall.
We were finding a million nails, doing a lot of prep before we can
actually get a roller on these walls.
I gotta say, this is the most patching that we've ever done.
Yeah.
I even patched.
That's how much patching there was.
We haven't showed you guys hours of footage, obviously.
Um, but we have been doing this for hours.
It comes from a place of love.
Every little hole and scratch that we leave behind is missing from your heart.
Yeah.
Wow.
You could even see like how many tenants had been here that hadn't
repaired the holes in the walls.
It's not because there's different types of anchors.
There's like yellow ones, then red ones, then gray ones, the
generations of anchors in the wall.
I'll get working on this.
We'll regroup.
Let's paint.
I'm starting by priming the kitchen cabinet base before we go
in and paint the color over top.
This color is called Sage Green Light.
It's a Sherman Williams color, but we had it color matched at Benjamin Moore.
For these cabinets that are touching the white walls, I'm being a bit
messier with my paint job because we're about to paint the wall a fresh coat
of white, and that's when we'll make sure all the lines are super crisp.
Graham is painting out all the doors and all the trim in
Cloud White by Benjamin Moore.
The fireplace is currently painted a gray color, so I'm going in and I'm
just painting it Cloud White as well.
This has yellow undertones, so it's going to feel like a warmer white.
You might notice that we have suddenly changed our clothes.
That's because painting has continued into a second day.
I was not kidding you guys when I said there was a lot of painting,
but we are excited to be here.
We're excited to be continuing painting because we can already see what a
difference it's making to this space.
We are now painting the walls and the ceiling all in Cloud
White by Benjamin Moore.
This is a good time to mention that you might notice white paint on the brick.
That wasn't us.
Sadly, that was a sloppy past paint job, but we're here to hopefully make the
rest of this space look brand new.
I'm aware that I look, what's the word, disheveled.
I'm not going to describe you in such negative terms.
I won't get offended.
So I think you guys saw like two minutes of sped up painting footage.
We painted for 16 hours and I'm just going to come out and say it.
Okay.
We've upped the value of this apartment by a lot with just a fresh coat of white.
And I want you guys to remember this exact moment and this exact video.
Whenever in the future I say a white coat of paint makes such a
difference because it really does.
It makes the space look clean and like new.
It is clean.
All the surfaces are brand new.
Yeah.
It's pretty cool.
Okay.
Amazing, amazing teamwork.
We, why?
We crushed it and, um, I'll see you tomorrow.
Nope.
Yep.
Hopefully I look cuter.
Um, I'm going to go home and have a shower.
I'm very sweaty.
Your hat is so disheveled and like a skew on your head.
See you guys tomorrow.
Goodbye.
Okay.
I just got home jump scare.
I know, but immediately put on my pajamas, threw my hair up in my
get ready headband because I am doing some self-care and one thing I learned
very early on in my skincare journey, I was going to get facials and they were
giving me this like red light therapy.
My skin would be so much calmer.
The redness would be like basically non-existent.
And so when I found out that you can actually do red light therapy at home,
I was like, this is amazing, a game changer, which is why I'm so
excited to share the FAQ 202 by Foreo.
Let me show you how it works.
First.
I apply the FAQ red light peptide serum, which optimizes led performance
with photo reactive ingredients.
You don't have to use the app, but I like to go on the app to access
preset treatments, anti-wrinkle oil balancing, and a calming treatment,
which I love if I'm experiencing blemishes or redness, this led face
mask is not only FDA cleared, but also clinically proven to reduce
wrinkles, significantly improve elasticity and reduce acne in just two
weeks.
Numerous studies have demonstrated the benefits of led light therapy
technology.
It has eight different wavelengths, including NIR, which is designed to
boost collagen production, accelerate wound healing and reduce deep
inflammation.
I love my freckles, but I do have some sun damage on the top of my cheeks.
The freckles are kind of forming like one big freckle.
So I've been using the FAQ 202 repairing treatment, which takes just 15
minutes and combines different wavelengths.
So not just red light that combat natural signs of skin damage from sun
exposure, pollution, lack of sleep and stress.
I've used other light therapy masks, but I continuously reach for the FAQ
202 because it's wireless.
So I can do my chores or relax while I'm also looking after my skin.
Foreo is celebrating its birthday with one of its biggest sales of the year.

Okay.
Next time you see me, I will not be in my PJs and my get ready headband.
Let's keep the makeover moving.
Hi everyone.
Good morning.
Wow.
That was a lot of painting as you guys just saw, but it's time to really
start bringing furniture in, building a lot of stuff.
Graham and I are going to start by reinstalling the kitchen cabinets.
Let's roll Graham cam so you can see exactly how he transformed
these kitchen cabinet fronts.
First things first, Graham is removing the knobs and hardware from the doors
and sanding everything down using 60 grit sandpaper up to one 20 grit
sandpaper on his random orbital sander.
Graham was going to use paint remover, but there was just so many layers of
paint on these doors that he decided to just sand them down until smooth instead.
Now he's taping the knob and pull holes on the backside of the doors
with some painters tape and using a five minute two part epoxy to fill the holes.
Since these are metal doors, the material is really thin.
So wood filler wouldn't do the trick here.
Now that the epoxy is cured, Graham is sanding it down so that it's flush
to the rest of the doors and using wood filler to make the epoxied holes
and scratches as seamless as possible.
He's using a mini roller to apply two coats of shellac primer,
which will seal the old paint rust and any leftover grime.
He's using a spray gun and applying two coats of sage green
light by Sherwin-Williams.
He's using some coat hangers and some cup hooks to hang the doors so he can
paint all of the faces at the same time.
These cabinet fronts look really good.
So much better than the gray that was here.
So now I'm just going to reattach them.
This looks brand new, except for the hinges.
Landlord special.
They just painted over the hinges with white paint.
So we're actually going to strip these at lunch with some paint stripper.
The good news is there's no more hinges.
So these are the only two we have to strip at lunch.
Wow. Beauty.
Yes, Graham.
OK, this is going way.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Is this what it's like to be a car mechanic?
OK, time to put some knobs on these cabinet doors.
I love an aged brass and green combo.
I think it's just so timeless and like stylish.
These are from Amazon.
They're very weighty.
Very good quality.
I will link them down below.
Nice, nice, gorgeous.
OK, when we were putting on the cabinet doors,
I realized that I never painted in here.
I thought that there was a door for this, but we're going to turn it
into like a cute little jar moment.
I'm going to paint this out is my is my point.
So when I'm making over a studio, I always look at those tiny corners
to see if I can fit like a tall cabinet.
And this area beside the fridge is where we're going to be
putting much more storage.
I got this awesome IKEA kitchen cabinet.
It's very cool and is going to pack a punch
when it comes to storage.
So let's build it.
You guys should have built IKEA furniture last time you made it.
Oh, yeah, I'm sure she's going to be a little bit disappointed
when she comes in tomorrow and sees that all the IKEA stuff is built.
She probably has insane FOMO right now.
Well, this is your lucky day,
because this one is one, two, three, four, five boxes,
two bags of hardware plus whatever is inside the boxes.
So instructions.
With a little drill and a lock.
Look at that. Locked in place.
OK, so to turn this cabinet into an organized pantry,
we got the Utressa.
Unfortunately, the instruction booklet is 48 pages long.
I'm thinking we should flip this up, though, and attach it to the wall first.
Not I'm thinking that is what the instructions say.
Does it actually say?
Page one of Utressa.
Actually, page six, but step one.
This cabinet won't fit on this side because of the bulkhead,
but I think that actually works because we want the cabinet
to be closer to the living room rather than the fridge floating in the living room.
This is the bathroom.
I'm assuming Jaden's going to keep this door closed because she'll be cooking.
But the door does open all the way.
We're trying to pack as much storage in here as possible,
and sometimes things are going to be a little squished, you know.
But I think Jaden is going to really appreciate the amount of storage
we're bringing in with this piece because there's a lot of it.
Wow. Graham and I finished building this,
and I remembered we had extra poles from the kitchen.
So I'm going to customize this IKEA cabinet with some poles.
OK, I'm going to show you inside in a sec,
because Alana is on her way with some feet for this that we forgot to grab.
So once those are installed,
I'll be able to open the door properly and show you how it all works.
For now, let's move on to the bedroom area.
We're going to add some window film to the random window
that's floating in the room.
I'll show you what I mean.
Jaden had a blind here.
This window looks out to the hallway, so people walk up and down
to go into their units or go to the front door.
There is a window there, so it lets in some light.
I was finding that the shade was just taking up too much room.
It looks like really messy.
And we're putting something in front of this window.
So I thought a curtain or a shade would just, again, like be too bulky.
So do you recognize it?
Just to refresh my memory.
No, I'm kidding.
It's from Graham's Apartment Makeover.
It's from Decorative Films.
They have amazing privacy films just like this one.
And we literally install it with water and a squeegee.
The first thing you want to do is spray your window,
douse it with water and dish soap.
You do want to make sure your window is nice and clean.
Anything on the window is going to just be trapped under the film
and it's not going to stick as well.
Oh, no, this is bad.
This is not funny, actually.
This is bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad.
Yeah, really bad. Yeah.
Mm hmm. Mm hmm.
OK, we're just going to we're going to try.
OK, so the next step is squeegeeing out all the water bubbles.
So now that we have it stuck to the window,
you want to get a really, really sharp utility knife and just trim the edges.
We accomplished a lot today.
The space is really coming along nicely.
Can't wait to keep going.
I'll see you guys tomorrow.
Hi, everyone.
I'm so excited for today because we are bringing in a lot of furniture pieces.
I did want to start off the day by finally revealing this cabinet.
So Graham this morning put the legs on.
He put the toe kick at the bottom and he mounted the whole thing to the wall.
It looks beautiful.
It looks like it's always been here.
I want to show you guys inside. Are you ready?
Full pantry for Jaden.
So much food storage shelves up here.
Making use of that vertical space.
Look at this. Spices on the side. So good.
OK, we're going to keep moving in the kitchen
and Graham and I are going to build an island from article.
Graham, are you ready?
Yeah, I have been dying to use this kitchen island from article.
It is not only gorgeous, but it is the perfect size for a small kitchen.
Plus, it has lots of storage underneath.
I'm going to whack you, don't worry.
This island is just as beautiful, actually even more beautiful
than I thought it was going to be.
And so, so, so perfect for a small space.
If you are struggling with kitchen storage, don't have a place to dine.
This is the piece for you.
There's two drawers over here.
There's storage on the bottom, which Jaden didn't have before
in the island that she had in here.
These stools are also from article.
I love how they just tuck under the island.
So they're not going to be in Jaden's way when they're not in use.
When I'm making over studio apartments,
my goal is to always create like zones, one open room, right?
And we're trying to make like five different rooms in one.
I feel like the fridge here is really working with this cabinet.
And on the island, it's like this is the kitchen
and it's separate from the living room, which was the goal.
OK, I'm so excited for the lighting that we're adding to Jaden's studio.
So we're going to start with the light up there.
I always say this, but Mitzi lights are like pieces of art.
They just totally, totally make a space.
Do you want to hit the light switch?
I love it. It's stunning.
No, no.
OK, a dresser is a great alternative to your standard media unit.
If you need more clothing storage, I picked this one from article
because at first glance, it doesn't look like it has drawers.
But one, two, three and then three on that side.
There is a bit of space at the back because there's a jetto,
but her TV box can go right back here all tucked away.
This looks beautiful.
And now she has so much more clothing storage.
OK, let's head to the other side of the studio in the bedroom area,
because I'm going to be installing even more clothing storage over there.
OK, so Jaden had an open clothing rack here,
and I'm keeping the concept of that because there is literally
no place to put a wardrobe in this room because we have to put a bed.
But you guys might remember she had stuff like piled
on top of the open clothing rack, lots of folded things.
Those can now go in to the dresser.
I'm trying to like disperse where she puts her clothes throughout the studio.
This is from Croft.
I've used this piece before.
Their pieces are so beautiful,
and this makes it look like your clothing is in a store.
So I got some velvet hangers.
These are really great because it just means
everything will sit really closely together and she can fit lots.
That's just one pack of hangers. Think of like six packs.
OK, I also knew for clothing storage
that this little alcove could be used for something.
Since we have lots of hanging storage,
I thought that a little cabinet in here would be perfect.
This is from Wayfair.
I'm going to have to level it a little bit, but this fits perfectly.
I feel like this nook is now actually being used.
Graham is installing another Mitzi light in the bedroom area.
We're bringing in a little bit of texture with this chandelier.
Another absolute Mitzi sleigh.
This light is so cute.
Also, another sleigh of the day.
So we get to see the Hunties being divas and working it fiercely.
We got so much done.
We were actually just saying how big this makeover is.
Like we feel like we've been here a long time.
Can't wait for tomorrow.
I'll see you guys then.
Good night. Bye.
Hi, guys. I'm so excited.
We're really, really, really bringing the space together today.
I feel like I've said that every day, but I'm going to continue on in the bedroom
and just start with a rug.
So we're going to do first.
This is so pretty.
OK, this is from Lalloy.
We love Lalloy rugs, and it is so soft.
I wish you could feel it.
So now that we have this down, it's time for a very exciting piece of furniture.
The bed. Let's do it.
I have wanted to use this bed for so long.
It is from Sunday's Pushpursy.
One of the main reasons I wanted to use it, not just because it looks beautiful
and fluffy and cloud-like, but because you can lift the mattress up
and there is so much storage underneath.
You can visit Sunday's showrooms to shop all of their furniture.
They have one in Toronto, and you can use their store locator
to see if there is one near you.
Wait, but sorry, how are you going to get out?
No, it's freaking me out.
OK, I'm going to keep him in here all day.
I think I'm screwing him in.
Um, wait, let me let me help you.
Oh, OK. And then we'll attach it like on an angle.
Yeah, I think you can.
The instructions don't say to do that?
No, clearly not. OK.
I'm putting the cover on.
It's this beautiful striped linen fabric, and I'm so excited to be using it.
This is the perfect space to do it in.
It's subtle, it's neutral, but it still gives you that
visual interest with the stripe, which we love.
But let me show you the real winning feature of this bed.
This is like an extra room full of storage,
considering there is one tiny coat closet.
I have no idea where she's putting her sheets before.
It's really easy to lift up and down so she can just grab stuff every day.
If you live in a small space and maybe don't have room for a bed
with drawers or just need more storage, try a lift top bed.
I'm reusing the side table that Jaden already had.
I think it works really well with the style.
It also still allows this door to open.
And then she has full access to her clothing rack over there.
OK, let's make the bed.
For pillows and the duvet, we are, of course,
using inserts from our friends at Canadian Down and Feather.
They smell good, like they smell, they smell like a good pillow.
I feel so happy whenever we're able to give our makeover recipients
like a full new bed set up.
This is looking like a hotel bed.
I really want to climb in here.
I'm not going to, but my goodness.
To complete this bed, I'm adding these amazing cushions from HomeSense.
I say amazing because they're so squishy.
Doing a little color blocking moment.
It's sofa time.
This is our beloved Sven.
And I say our beloved because as a team, we collectively love using this sofa.
Article has had this forever.
So I knew we needed to bring in like a smaller sofa, but not compromise comfort.
And that's where the Sven comes in.
It's just like so comfortable.
Looks more lived in and worn in as you use it.
Raise your hand if you have a Sven sofa.
In a small space, when I'm using more than one rug,
I love one to be a rectangular shape and then the other one to be irregular.
It just looks more visually interesting instead of having like two rectangular rugs.
And Jaden wanted more seating, so I'm actually going to bring in another
piece of furniture.
This is from a new to us retailer called Pop Maison,
and they have so many cool furniture pieces.
They have like dining chairs, benches, console tables, dining tables, dining sets.
Jaden really needed solutions to host more.
So we've given her a sofa.
She can bring up the stools from the bar.
This swivels so people can talk to her while she's in the kitchen
or face this way and watch the TV.
It's so beautiful.
I love a lift top coffee table in a small space,
and especially in this space for Jaden,
because she's actually a master's student doing her schooling online.
And she said she just spends a lot of time on her sofa in front of the TV
working, eating.
So this is really great.
It also has storage, which we can never get enough of in a small space.
Gorgeous.
OK, so because Jaden is on her laptop a lot, I wanted to also get her this.
This just slides right under your sofa and you can also adjust the height.
If you don't have room for a coffee table in your space,
these are great as little side tables as well.
This C-stand is from Home in Fun.
If you like more of a neutral style like Jaden does,
I find adding texture wherever you can can just make it look more interesting.
And these shades are so good.
They're practical, but they also give us that hint of texture.
This is from Two Pages,
and I have a matching one for the door by her bed.
I'm going to hang some art.
Sourced all this from Desenio and went with a lot of like black
and white art, neutral kind of prints,
anything that just like screams New York apartment.
So that's what we're doing.
So stunning.
So Alana found this on Facebook Marketplace for $350.
We did a little Google.
On Etsy, this mirror is listed for like thousands of dollars.
It's called the Lipstick Mirror.
I don't know if this is a replica or like an original, but so cool,
like a piece of art, but also super functional for her.
This is amazing.
I know I said this already,
but the velvet hangers really allow her to hang so much stuff
on this rod, which is awesome.
Ooh, cute.
Let me just like shopping Jaden's wardrobe.
My Carolina!
This looks really good.
I'm actually thinking
I'm going to add some of her accessories to that arch cabinet.
Love it.
So Jaden does have a coat closet,
but I thought that this was stunning.
It's from Lulu in Georgia.
It's actually by one of my favorite artists, Virginia Synn.
She makes stunning home decor.
It's absolutely stunning, stunning, very stunning.
So this is for Jaden to just like throw a purse on, maybe a cardigan.
Just truly extra storage.
Hello.
I'm so excited about this room divider.
I'm guessing you can't see me, but that's kind of the point.
Since Jaden wants to host a lot and since we've created,
in my humble opinion, the most perfect hosting setup, we thrifted this.
It was $35, adds so much beautiful texture with the fabric.
And I just feel like it works so well with the vibe.
That was such a great day.
I'm hot, I'm sweaty.
Tomorrow, you guys, we are finishing this makeover and I am so excited
because I've already exclaimed multiple times today
that I would like to live in this apartment.
Jaden, I'm sorry if you're watching.
It's now my apartment.
I might sleep here.
I'm just kidding.
Sorry, makeover recipients, I do not sleep in your apartments.
I have my cats and my boyfriend that I go home to.
I'm rambling because I'm really, really hot and I really need a drink of water.
So I'm going to go and do that and I'll see you guys tomorrow. Bye.
You guys, I have to show you these after photos
I just received from my virtual makeover clients, Meg and David.
These photos are blowing my mind because their living room looks so good.
But also, these are the mood boards that me and my team came up with
when we were redesigning their space.
They literally copy and pasted all of our suggestions
and shopped all the products we recommended to them in their virtual
makeover package.
It is so rewarding to help people get out of design rut.
Sometimes there are so many choices.
So my team and I just narrow it down.
We work with your inspo and deliver you what is hopefully your dream space.
I work with a few select clients every month.
All the details are at alexandragator.com
in the description box below.
Today, we are finishing the studio apartment,
and I'm like thrilled with how it's coming together.
I cannot wait to reveal this to Jayden.
I am going to start by decorating this fireplace mantle.
I'm so jealous of this.
I think it is so beautiful, adds so much character.
It is a non-working fireplace.
Alana and I were talking actually about adding like a bunch of magazines.
I feel like that's very sex in the city.
Girl who lives in an apartment in a rom-com movie.
Sometimes I would buy Vogue instead of dinner.
I just felt it fed me more.
We thrifted a ton of secondhand magazines and books
just off Facebook Marketplace.
And I'm just going to fill the fireplace with them.
I want this to look kind of like messy and disheveled.
OK, now I'm just going to take these thrifted novels and stack them.
I also think this is a great tip if you have a fireplace
that's not working in your space, like use it for storage.
If you live in a small space, use it to like pile books really high.
It'll look cool, but it's also functional.
I knew I wanted to put candles down here, but keep it faux.
So I found these. I've linked them down below.
They're made with real candle wax, but they're battery operated.
That looks so real. And it's flickering.
So I'm just going to put these kind of just scattered around.
You can also put these on a timer, which is awesome.
We found these at HomeScience, and they are rechargeable lights.
I talked about this in a previous makeover,
but there's so many amazing rechargeable lights on the market right now.
Twenty dollars each.
And I thought, let's do like a symmetrical moment, you know?
Cute.
Now we want variation of height when we're styling a mantle or a bookcase.
Same rules apply.
So let's add in some candlesticks and taper handles.
Pretty matchboxes are also a great little accessory to put on a mantle.
I'm going to add in some pieces of art to the living room,
starting with layering something on the mantle.
We love.
And I'm going to add two more above the TV.
These are also from Desenio.
Oh, my gosh. So, so beautiful.
OK, let's add some cushions.
And then on this wall, I'm going to add a little key drop shelf.
So let's do that now.
Poppy and Honeybee, she sent us these keychains,
and I just wanted to show you guys.
If you know, you know.
I'm coming to the cottage.
She can drop her keys there.
We are moving on to finishing touches.
I am placing a candle and a decorative catchall box on Jaden's nightstand.
I'm adding a poof here.
I'm thinking this can be used just to throw clothes on at the end of the day.
I'm placing a lumbar cushion on the bed.
I'm adding storage jars to the open kitchen shelf.
I'm placing a few baskets on the kitchen island shelves.
I'm adding this thrifted basket, which is filled with fruit
to the top of the fridge.
I'm bringing in a hit of texture and comfort with this woven kitchen mat.
I'm adding a beautiful French provincial style mirror,
giving us that hit of brass.
I'm styling the dresser with a vase of tall branches and a candle.
I'm placing a couple coffee table books, one open.
I just feel like this looks styled and relaxed and cool, girl.
Finally, I'm placing beautiful tulips on the island.
It is time to bring in Jaden for the reveal.
I have butterflies.
I am so, so excited to show her her new home.
I can feel your heart beating like through your back.
OK, I would love for you to walk me through what your apartment
looked like before.
The apartment was cute, but I didn't find the decor was super cohesive.
It didn't really feel like me.
The kitchen was pretty gray.
Not a lot of storage.
On the count of three, I want you to open your eyes, OK?
OK. One, two, three.
Oh, oh my God.
I can't even believe this.
It looks so good.
This is a dream.
I can't believe this at all.
This does not look like the same apartment at all.
You guys, what?
Oh my God.
You're like fully shaking.
I'm shaking.
Your whole body is shaking.
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life.
You are so good.
You're so good.
Oh my God, the light.
Wow. Everything's just like popping out at me now.
I feel...
Stunning.
This is perfect.
Like, this is so gorgeous.
Oh my gosh.
Wow. The colors and everything is stunning.
I love it so much.
What?
This is nuts. This is nuts.
I can't even believe this.
Like, I'm in a dream.
Come into your new bedroom.
I don't even have words.
This is actually nuts.
This just lifts up.
Oh my God.
And you have all the storage underneath.
No way.
I want to stay here forever now.
I'm never leaving this place ever, ever.
Thank you so much.
You're welcome.
This is literally insane.
Do you feel like it's sex in the city apartment?
This is sex in the city apartment.
A hundred percent.
And this is Carrie's apartment if it was, like, even better.
Wow.
Oh.
High praise.
I'm so excited to have people over here.
I'm so excited for you.
Next up on AGTV, we are making over an A-frame bedroom.
We are doing it in the coolest style.
Lots of green, lots of pattern.
Just, like, fun.
And I'm so excited for you to see it.

Ready?
I'm so happy that happened.
No.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay, good.
I would continue to work on that one.
I'm so happy.
I could not be happier.
Are you a Carrie or am I Samantha?
I'm a Carrie.
