Do you think we've got here too early?
We're going to blind each other with these torches.
When you weren't looking, I just popped these.
Oh gosh, that's seen better days, hasn't it?
I just love those.
That's a stunner, that's a first.
What are you finding now, Karen?
Well, it's not for me.
A nine metre piece of spider.
A lovely bunch of jokes.
I think it might be a bit itchy in this weather.
It's nice, that.
You know, I prefer that.
I mean, obviously, you've grabbed the right outfit for the other one.
That's very striking.
That's amazing.
That's gorgeous.
I like these.
Oh, you're so calm and serene.
Can we have a goat?
With the spiders and everything else, I'm not sure.
Very art nouveau.
Lovely little reverse carved lucid brooch.
Very new, Karen.
Absent sources.
What time is it, even?
Bonjour!
Ca va?
Il y a de l'orage?
Oui, je pense.
Do you think we've got here too early?
Nobody's set up yet.
I know.
It's going to be so difficult for people to set up, though, until it gets light.
I know.
Bonjour!
We're going to blind each other with these torches.
Not the easiest this morning to see where you're going.
That's a piece for Michel, isn't it?
Bonjour!
This morning, we've come to Chateau d'Oran in Department 61.
Bank holiday.
Assumption day.
Saturday.
6.15 in the morning.
Obviously, behind us there, that's the chateau, if you can see.
It's so dark.
I know.
Hopefully, the camera will pick stuff up this morning.
We're here ultra early this morning, but so is everybody else.
Yeah, there's a lot of people here trying to buy.
Heck of a lot of people milling around, but a lot of the stallholders haven't even turned up yet.
You can't even see out, can you, to be honest, down there?
Because it runs through the woods.
Armed with my torch.
Runs through the woods and you just can't see anything at all.
Oops.
I don't know where he's going to go.
They're starting to come in now, so we'll go and have a look.
Anyway, we'll take you along with us and see what we can truffle.
Find.
On y va.
I think this is running out of steam.
I can see a million.
Well, it's already had a hole repaired, but you can look at that.
That's a shame, isn't it?
It's quite nice.
You know we'd like that, don't you?
I don't know.
I mean, oh gosh, that's seen better days, hasn't it?
Oh, this is nice.
That's really old, isn't it?
That's lovely.
When you weren't looking, I just popped these.
No, you know when we split up earlier.
Well, this is not for us.
This is for our customer and that and that.
But I thought these were interesting.
I got these from down the corner there, but these have all come out of a church.
They're really, really, really old.
19th century.
I'm going to damage them if I am.
And then that one.
I think they're numbered as well on the back.
Well, that one isn't, but some of the others are.
I just love those.
They need a good clean.
Oh, God, I hate this trolley.
Oh, look at these.
This trolley's just going to disappear.
Oh, God.
Oh, they're all the same.
Winston Churchill.
I don't know what it is, it looks like Winston Churchill.
Colmar, 1948.
I don't know what that is.
That's a first.
They're very nice.
Long.
Nine metre piece.
Avec...
Spider.
Spi...
Still alive.
That's probably what happens when you've got live spiders.
I know.
But he's camera shy, he's the vendor, so.
We can't get a photograph.
Oh, friend.
That's nice, isn't it?
It's a really nice piece, that one.
What to ask him?
I can see some more stuff there.
Nice one as well.
What are you finding now, Karen?
Well, it's not for me.
It's for our friend.
I'm not keen on that one.
You're not? I like that.
That's got a nice shape to it.
A lovely bunch of ducks.
Boom.
A new dress, what do you think?
I think it might be a bit itchy in this weather.
Yeah.
Chasse.
What have you found now, Karen?
That's lovely, look, with the chasse.
The fox and the dog and the stork or the heron.
That's lovely.
Oh, the deer.
It's a nice piece, that.
And she's only just...
What do you reckon it would cost to get that...
Repaired.
...restored?
Oh, it's such a beautiful...
Look at the hamper.
Yeah.
I love the birds.
I love the mannequin.
Yeah.
Let me go and say hello to Chrissie.
We were chatting to our dear friends.
Chatting.
Again?
Chatting.
I bought two beautiful...
I don't talk to anybody.
No.
Two beautiful...
That's a really old one, that one.
Yeah, that really is a nice one.
It's gorgeous, isn't it?
I'm in the colour on the back as well.
But look at that.
Cherries.
It's beautiful, that is.
So I'm pleased with those.
A piece of lomban.
Really striking, isn't it?
Right.
It's nice, that.
You know, with the right outfit.
I mean, obviously, you've got to team them with the...
OK.
There's another one inside the envelope.
I prefer that.
I mean, obviously, you've got the right outfit for the other one.
But that's...
These are pristine.
These have never been out there.
That's lovely, that.
Is that Dawn?
It's exactly...
I'm trying to see what...
Handbags of 50s.
It's satin, that is.
It's not...
Well, that's nice.
That's very striking.
Really striking.
Isn't it?
I like that.
Very much.
But, I mean, I've got Hermes ones that I haven't even listed yet.
That's a lovely old piece.
So look at the...
I know.
That's gorgeous.
I like these.
I like those as well.
Oh, listen at that.
Isn't that pretty?
Oh, it's still going.
That's amazing.
That is absolutely amazing.
Isn't it?
Absolutely beautiful.
I better not say gorgeous anymore.
It's truly gorgeous.
That's incredible.
Somebody would want that.
I know.
That's beautiful.
That's so pretty.
This would be a photo.
This is a photo.
Oh my goodness me.
How exquisite.
Oh, you're so calm and serene.
Can we have a goat?
That's Tom.
Oh, it's so beautiful of you.
I love her ears.
Oh, look at all the pictures.
She's so sweet.
You're so gorgeous, aren't you?
It's not signed, but it's interesting, isn't it?
With the spiders and everything else on it.
Are you interested?
It just reminds me of Santouz, you know, with the sideways pouring spout.
That's nice, though.
There's views up there.
Sorry.
Let's buy this, because look at this.
Isn't it beautiful with the go-to edge pages?
It's absolutely beautiful.
It's 1930.
That's such a sentimental publicity.
It's a really nice piece.
It's just got a little dent there, but it's very nice.
Lie down.
Lie down where?
On the beds.
I won't put it past you.
Very art nouveau.
That's lovely, isn't it?
Beautiful.
€160 for the three pieces.
Whose is it?
Dijon.
Isn't it?
Is that the same as...
It's beautiful.
Because you've got a beaded...
I would have thought it would have had a beaded thing on it.
Isn't that lovely?
How unusual.
There's some really interesting things on here.
I've never seen a light shade in...
I mean, that is just... isn't it?
A lot of storage, isn't that?
Gorgeous, Karen.
Gorgeous?
Look at the tree.
Look at the...
Is it oak?
It's like a crazy golf.
Yeah, but look at the tree.
I'm like, that's good, isn't it?
But that's beautiful.
A piece of furniture with a marble top.
It's unusual.
My little reverse carved lucid brooch.
Oh, that's lovely.
I'm going to have to take that.
I don't know how much...
Can you see the little birds?
And the blossom.
That's beautiful.
What have you been buying now, Karen?
Absent sources.
You never find these, ever.
How lovely they are.
I'm really pleased with those.
It looks a bit worn out.
Just how I feel.
Yeah, tell me about it.
Rouen plates, maybe?
Stamped LG with the original staples.
They're fabulous.
I'll do some research on them.
So...
Am I starting or you?
We just wanted to go through the show and tell
because this is obviously the day after the day before at the Chateau.
We've literally just brought the trolley out of the van this morning
and we've just set it up in a kind of display to show you what we've got.
I've already just done a quick video of a show and tell
but we'll just describe or just try and explain why we did buy these pieces.
So I saw these three paintings, these religious paintings
leaning up against a van at the back of somebody's stall
and we walked straight past at first but they caught my eye
so I went and had a further look
and they've all come out of a church after talking to the vendor
and they're numbered at the back
so obviously they were on a church display or whatever
and you can see the remains of where they were within a frame at one point.
They're very, very dusty and dirty
and time worn but that's the appeal of them, isn't it?
They're just absolutely beautiful.
I don't think we're going to do out with them.
No, I think we're going to sell them as they are.
They're 19th century, early 19th century
and we just think they're amazing.
The next piece is a stoneware oil pot from further down south
and all the rustic pots and the basket and the stuff that you see
is for a customer of ours in the UK
and we'll be taking that back for them at a later date.
So all those, all the pots, the baskets, the zinc, they're all sold.
This painting, Impasto, probably 1950s, 60s
I don't think it's signed. It's on board.
It's a fabulous piece of...
It got a lot of attention when we were walking around.
We've got a lot of people stopping us.
Nice little snow scene, French village.
With the garage, it's going to appeal to automobile collectors
with the petrol pumps at the front and the publicity signs.
It's fabulous, that is.
Do you want to explain about the little saucers?
The absinthe saucers.
You don't often come across those and we found four in one go
so we'll be offering them as we found them, as a set of four.
They've all got different prices on in francs
and they're very collectible and very sweet.
And then we've got two talking plates.
Very old 19th century faience and they're very cracked
but if you can see that they're all stapled at the back
which is what we're having to find at a vast rate at the moment
because as fast as we're getting these plates in, they're flying out.
Then we've got some majolica.
Oh, we love those, don't we? And they both go together.
Lovely. Colour patina, time-worn.
Yeah, they're beautiful.
They're very old, those two. Very stained.
And that one's a nice one as well.
With the cherries.
We've not come across that one before but we thought we'd like that.
So, another piece of publicity.
It's an old bonbon tin.
We've had that one before.
It's signed on the front with the artwork.
Very collectible again.
A little bit of perfume.
Yeah, two old bottles of Madame Rochard
and an amazing old perfume bottle with the original label.
I'll have to research that but we do sell a lot of old fragrance bottles.
So, I was really pleased with that. That's one of my favourite finds.
A lovely little lucet brooch.
Yeah, reverse carved brooch with two little birds on a branch surrounded by blossom.
And that was nice.
Sweet enamel little sign.
That's gorgeous.
Do you want to explain about the scarf?
That's more your...
Well, you spotted them.
Two Lanvin scarves, never been used, in the original pouch.
One's smaller than the other one but they're pristine, unused.
Very highly sought after designer label, Lanvin.
Especially vintage and in such good condition as that.
And then as we were walking away we saw another sack full of silk scarves from the same vendor.
And that caught my eye.
Sorry, it's the wrong way around.
And again. Is that it?
No, that's it. I think that is fabulous.
A lot of people buy these silk scarves and actually frame them as wall art.
And I think that one piece in particular would do very well as such.
And then they're sitting on nine metres of pristine ticking.
Mattress ticking.
This has never been used. It's like part of a bolt.
Well, the remains of a bolt ticking.
So that will be offered at a later date.
And I think that's it.
Apart from pièce de résistance.
Yeah, this is going to need some research.
But this is absolutely exquisite.
The thing is, the key is inside it.
This is a musical photo album.
It's called the Gladstone album.
The illustration is incredible.
That's the interior cover.
I mean, look at the graphics of this.
That's the picture of an Edwardian castle.
But this is incredible.
And it's got the original photographs in as well.
It basically took my breath away when I found it.
And quite a few people came up to us.
They saw us buying it, didn't they?
And they said, wow, what a find and congratulated us.
The music's running out.
But the key is in the back.
It just goes on and on.
It's so, so beautiful.
All documenting Gladstone's life work on the pages.
And this is the secret compartment.
Where the workings are.
And the key is kept in a little place there.
To wind it up with, how exquisite is that?
Yes, you figured.
Yes, just we'll dance around.
Say this never happens, but it happened.
I know it's what they say.
Say this never happens, but it happened.
I know it's what they say, but it did.
We will stay forever.
You will stay.
Hope that you will stay.
You will stay.
Hope that you will stay.
You will stay.
