In this Bali travel vlog we visit Tanah Lot Temple in Bali, Indonesia. Being only 30 minutes from Canggu, it's a perfect day trip and a thing you must do. Tanah Lot is a seaside temple - literally, it is built on it's own mini-island out in the sea connecting to the main land. You can also visit Batu Bolong temple here, which is very impressive. We also tried the famous "Luwak Coffee" AKA, cat poop coffee which is produced in Indonesia. However, the animal ethics behind this coffee are questionable at best to downright inhumane, so I think this was a mistake of mine that I currently do not support.

The creator explores the unique volcanic architecture, the spiritual significance of the Hindu sea temples, and the scenic coastal views, while also providing a cautionary warning regarding the ethics of Luwak coffee production.
Welcome to Tanah Lot, arguably the most beautiful temple in all of Bali,
located just a stone's throw away from Canggu. Let's explore what it has to offer.
Good morning everybody. Here we're doing another great thing in Canggu
area of Bali, which is check out a temple. And here we're going to check out the Tanah Lot temple.
Going to take a little scooty for a ride with booty. And it's going to be the longest scooter
ride I've done so far. Probably close to 30 minutes, but it's a beautiful day. We're trying
early in the morning to avoid the crowds. But anyway, let's get going to Tanah Lot.
And we are off on the scooter everybody, making our way to Tanah Lot, exiting some of the busy
areas of Canggu. And it turns out to enter, it only costs $4, which is well worth it,
in my opinion, to see this beautiful place. She's ready to go.
Just as it gets windy. I know. Alright everybody, so that was a fun little 30 minute scooter ride
from Canggu. Super easy area to get to. And once you get past the Canggu area, it's a lot more of
a peaceful drive. Really pretty. See some more temples and open. So let's go check out Tanah Lot.
Even from the parking lot, we were already starting to get a feel of the Balinese culture,
which is so distinct and beautiful and embedded in these temples. And make for good photos too.
Like a true influencer. So due to Bali actually being a volcanic island, you will see a lot of
black in these temples and surrounding structures. That is because the black lava stone is used to
build lots of the temples, which makes it even more beautiful, in my opinion. Along with all
these little figures and gods and animals embedded into Pura. That means temple. Tanah Lot.
So as you may or may not know, Bali is a mostly Hindu island. And Tanah Lot is no exception.
This is a Hindu temple that is actually built on the sea to worship and sort of in dedication to
who is actually the sea god in the Hindu religion. Which makes sense because these temples are
located right on the coast, giving some beautiful views. And this includes another temple in the
complex called Batu Bolong. Alright everybody, so we are here at the Batu Bolong temple, which is
actually just down the road. The same little complex as the Tanah Lot temple. Coincidentally,
the street we live off in Canggu is also called Batu Bolong. And this is a really pretty sort of
black rock cliffside jutting out into the ocean. And then we also have the temple itself, which you
cannot enter unfortunately. But you still get a really good view of the ocean, the temple,
the side of the island, and all the greenery and beauty that you could see in Bali, Indonesia. So
that's the Batu Bolong temple. But of course, we still need to check out the Tanah Lot temple.
It's also great that there is a walking path that connects the temples and has beautiful
views of the coast, where you can see this gorgeous blue water with a black volcanic sand.
You can even get some little looking out points along the way, such as this one I'm showing you
here. So here we are at a viewpoint of the Tanah Lot temple, just over there in the background.
How majestic and magnificent. But as you can see, the waves are coming up a little too high,
so you can't really walk there right now. This is a great viewpoint. Even better place to come during
sunset, where you get the sun setting over the west part of the island. And maybe you can get
the temple in the background, especially from this other view. So definitely check out Tanah Lot.
Loving it in Batu Bolong. Very gorgeous. So we were absolutely loving the views of the ocean,
the culture, the architecture, and just the overall beauty of this complex. But we really
wanted to get up close and personal with the actual Tanah Lot itself. So I don't know if videos
can truly ever do this place justice, but these drone shots I thought were pretty nice to display
the beauty of Tanah Lot. But actually nearby, there's something that was going to catch my
interest. Something very unusual that I did not only see, but I was able to actually taste. From
this cute little critter, creature, whatever, you'll see what it is in a second. So what's
your take so far, Vanessa? Is this one of the coolest cafes you've ever been in? Definitely the
most interesting. Alright, so my first time drinking buak coffee, or cat poop, cat ---- coffee.
So I'm going to try my first taste. Oh, it's strong. I wonder what it tastes like not iced,
because it's... To make it iced, I'm sure they put some vanilla into it.
It's delicious, though. Super strong. Felt like a perfect cold brew. But it's gonna wire me up,
so no sleep tonight. Not because I know where it came from. Alright, so hello from Noah from the
future. I just wanted to make a quick little interjection by saying that Luwak Coffee, guys,
I do not support this or condone this anymore. This was a mistake I made, but I still wanted to
show you. So the truth is behind Luwak Coffee is that those beautiful, cute animals are not
treated humanely in order to get the coffee beans that comes from their dung. I had this, like,
weird romanticized version that they just, like, you know, ate some coffee beans in the wild,
and then pooped them out, and they were, like, picked as, like, you would pick, I don't know,
like, freaking bananas or apples or something like that. But that's not the case. They are,
like, kept in confined, really non-humane ways, and they are, like, used and exploited just for
the production of these coffee beans through their dung. And they will treat them terribly,
not very nice, and really inhumane as a result. So I do not support this. This was a mistake,
and I do not recommend you supporting it either. You can do some more research about it on your
own if you want to hear some more. But anyway, thanks so much for watching the video, everybody.
It was a lot of fun to go to Tanah Lot right near Canggu, Bali, and we will show you more
things to do in this area and other parts of Bali as well, including Ubud, including the North
Beach, Uluwatu, and so on. So thanks so much for watching, everybody. See you in the next video.
Peace!
