AI GeneratedThis tutorial demonstrates how to create a decorative stretch ring featuring a crystal flower center. The instructor guides viewers through selecting the appropriate elasticity cord, measuring for the correct ring size, constructing the floral centerpiece, and securely tying off the band to hide the knot.
Hey guys, welcome on into another episode.
Today, we're gonna be making a really cute stretch ring
featuring our new stretch cord set
and some really pretty crystal beads.
And it's gonna have a cute little flower center.
How I do this, I usually, I'm gonna use the .2.
Okay, it's the .5 millimeter from our elasticity set.
It's the smallest in the set.
And I like this for stretch rings
because it's super small.
I can use my tiny beads in the back band of my ring
and I can tie a knot and hide it inside one of those beads.
So I'm using this size elasticity.
So how you use this, you take it off your spool.
You get all four spools for, I think it's around $20.
And I like to pre-stretch it just a little bit
before I string.
So you, I don't know,
you maybe need like a foot max for this ring.
You're gonna need a little bead stopper.
And a lot of times I'll start
by doing the flower in the middle
and then I'll string the side beads.
But I'm just gonna start stringing the first side.
You'll see.
I'm gonna just go ahead and start stringing
and I'll kind of talk while I string.
So these are gonna be my little three millimeter,
2.5 millimeter beads.
And these are three millimeter,
two, two-ish millimeter stainless steel beads right here.
And they have a nice big opening
so that I will be able to hide my knot inside of it.
And I'm done.
And so this, what I'm working on
will be underneath the band of the ring.
Like it won't be showing.
I'm just gonna alternate them
and I'm gonna do about 15 beads, I believe.
And this is kind of, you know,
this is gonna be around a size nine ring.
And if you're confused about what size you need,
you can grab your ring mandrel
and take a string or a piece of leather or something
and wrap it around the size that you need your ring to be.
And then you can take that to a ruler and measure it
just so that you know how long to make your stretch ring.
It can be kind of hard, kind of confusing.
Because it's not a hard, you know,
it's not a hard wire that you can actually just measure.
So these on, and we'll get to our flower part,
my favorite part.
All right.
So I'm ready to start my flower.
I may need to add more to that side when I'm done,
but that's easy.
And I'm gonna use my crystal beads here.
About time to string those little guys.
So these are six millimeter faceted crystals.
And I'm gonna be using a round center.
You have to have a round center for this design
or it's just not gonna work.
And I like to use a 10 millimeter or an eight millimeter.
And just to give you some reference,
this is the eight millimeter
with four crystals on the outside.
This is the 10 millimeter
with eight crystals on the outside.
And really the only difference is that
the 10 millimeter pops up more.
So this is the 10 millimeter,
still same number of crystals.
And this is the eight.
Just see, it just doesn't pop out quite as much.
Just letting you know.
All right.
So here's how you do the flower.
You're gonna do five crystals.
One, two, three, four.
And then you're gonna string your middle bead center.
Okay.
So keep in mind,
we're kind of working in the middle
of our stretch cord section.
Just keep that in mind.
So then you take the tail of your stretch cord.
I know it's a little hard to see because it's clear.
We're gonna go back through this bead going this direction
and then pull it.
And then we're gonna string three beads,
three more crystals.
And then we're gonna go through this bead right here.
Right there.
Pull it tight.
Have your cute little flower.
So cute.
Okay.
So then we're gonna just continue to string
our little cuties on the other side.
Just alternating garnet, metal.
Getting this.
And once again, you know, all these,
the band length will be different
depending on the size ring you need to make.
And, you know, if you're using different size beads
and crystals for the flower part,
the number might change.
So just, you may have to play around a little bit
to get the calculation just right
as far as how many petals you need versus the center bead.
I'm just gonna do a couple more.
So now once you're ready to tie it off,
like you can check it
if you kind of scrunch everything together.
Truly I'm just making these for myself or my, you know.
But you can check it on your finger
to make sure that it's the right size.
Just kind of squish everything together
and I can take off some of these beads.
I can take off three.
Okay, and you want the knot
that you try to be as close to the center
as you can in the back of the ring, you know.
Just for equilibrium purposes, I think.
I mean, it doesn't really matter,
but that's what I like to do.
Okay, so how do you tie this off?
This is how I do it.
I do a surgeon's knot usually.
I go tie the knot
and then pull it tight.
And then I kind of put my finger on it
so that it's like holding it in place
while I do the second half of the knot.
And you're gonna do a surgeon's knot,
which basically just means you go around two times.
Slowly move that finger away.
So then you tug it a little here and there.
And sometimes this elasticity will slip out
like when you do that.
So the knot will come out
and you'll know you need to stop, untie it, and redo it.
And then you can put a dot of Hypo Cement on there
if you want and wait a little bit to do anything else.
Next thing is you just trim the little tails
and those will hide underneath that back bead.
And that's it.
So that's how you make that cute little stretch ring.
You can use turquoise beads.
You can use all kinds of cute centers,
but I love the pearls and I love these crystals.
I love the color story there.
