Frank Lampard was Unbelievable vs. Blackburn Rovers - Premier League 2006/07 (h)

Back in the action, and there has been plenty of action. The way this game has started, but Didier Drogba makes it 15 so far. Nowhere near, look at him, he's not even concentrating. And once Drogba gets a yard on him, he's not going to catch him. Honcho should have been giving himself a yard. Here's the goal, look they nick it in midfield, and he's nowhere near Drogba-Honcho. Just a stab through, and it's a run at goal. That should never, ever be, defensively. He's losing out to Cole, two of the former Arsenal men. Lampard. It's an overall show, it's Shevchenko who's in this time. Normally a positional play gets him out of trouble. He can get isolated like this time and again, not going to get punished. Straight ball from Tugay, Lampard, Shevchenko. Just a show, slow again Martin. If this is Drogba and the mood he's in at the moment, that's a goal. Doesn't clear his feet, doesn't get a goal. Miquel again, Makaleli again. Lampard switching the play to Diarra. Back to Miquel, Lampard, Balak. Getting under control and setting himself up for a shot, but good play by Blackburn. Difficult ball, he could have rolled it wide to Bentley. And that might cost Blackburn. I think it was offside. Look again, Emerson comes around on the cover. The other three are nowhere to be seen. Warnock steps up. Suggest the ability to get at Chelsea, but they need... Reach far, starts tallying up the premiership goals. He hasn't scored in the league since November. He's on the chase again. Brett Emerton. Hard, strong. Tugay. Drogba got in the way. Miquel, Lampard. Drogba's in front of Emerton. He does extremely well, doesn't he? Drogba to get his shot away. Great little clip up in the air by Lampard. But too strong for Emerton. Gets his shot away. Essien. Can't be thought... The whistle should have gone. It was picked off by Diarra. Lampard's ball. Shevchenko's onside. Complaining Tony that he hasn't been getting the service to show that off in English football. I think that's what they've done with him tonight. Concentrated on getting him in the box, not too much in... To ten men and a set piece as well. And it left Shevchenko free. Shevchenko's been going for several months in the Premiership. And this is typical of his first half, really, on target. But not in the back of the net. But at the other... Goes down quickly by Lampard. Shevchenko. Nicely coupled. Emerton. Why is it short? Lampard. Sometimes when you go through bad times... Chelsea's not having a bad time after all, but... A bit worse than it has been, but... Miquel. And on show this time. Lampard's quickly on the scene. On show. Tough look value for a second goal in this second half. But they haven't got it yet. Would give to Manchester United. And they take away. Offside from Stamford Bridge. But they're still leading. And Lampard. And Laschet! He simply smashed it past Fredl. The midfield players raise it his best. Passes it out wide. And he collects this ball back off Wayne Bridge. Who gets down the outside. And sorry off Miquel. And then he takes that there. Was it a deflection? No. It's the old reverse swing. You can see. On show closes him down. He goes to go one way. Fredl. And it reverses the other. It's a great strike. Just simply caused by hitting across the ball. Runs straight on it. Hits across the ball. Great technique. And it reverses the other way. Super goal. And it's Lampard's 16th of another very prolific season. And Nelson's position had the ball. It's Balak. It's Lampard again! There goes Bridge. Shevchenko. Driving on here is Lampard. Shevchenko. Oh the pass was on. Lampard's there. But Shevchenko. Possibly productive route of a. Pedersen corner. Possibly. Of course like Chelsea still in Europe. They're in the UEFA Cup. Mark Hughes' men. And Chelsea are a little over five minutes away. Late corner for Blackburn. And. Able to clear quite easily.
