Public property disguised as private?

Residents have filed a class action lawsuit against Guastavino's, a luxury event venue, for illegally claiming a public plaza as private property. For approximately 20 years, the venue allegedly used security guards and signage to block public access. Following the lawsuit announcement and political pressure, the venue has removed the private property signs and acknowledged the space is public.
