Growing Damage as Intense Rain Hits Southern Taiwan

Severe flooding has devastated southern Taiwan, particularly in Kaohsiung and Tainan. Intense rainfall, exceeding 900mm in some areas, has caused massive road collapses, trapped residents, and forced the emergency evacuation of hundreds of hospital patients. The disaster has also damaged historical landmarks, with more rain forecast through the end of the week.
