The Faroe Islands are a captivating island nation located in the North Atlantic, nestled between Iceland, Norway, and Scotland. Comprising 18 islands, this small country is like something out of a fairytale, boasting lush green hills, waterfalls, fishing villages, and stunning natural beauty. 🌿🇫🇴

In this first video from the Faroe Islands, I share some general information about the country and we explore the village of Bøur, which looks like it stepped straight out of a storybook. We also chat with locals and stumble upon a sperm whale that has washed ashore. A journey of discovery—both enchanting and thought-provoking—begins amidst the wild landscapes of the Faroe Islands. 🌊🐋

✈️ Getting to the Faroe Islands

There are no direct flights to the Faroe Islands from Turkey. We traveled from İzmir with a layover in Copenhagen. The flight from Copenhagen to Vágar (Faroe Islands) takes about two hours. There are also direct flights available from Iceland and Scotland. Flights are operated by the national carrier, Atlantic Airways.

🛃 Visa

Although the Faroe Islands are part of the Kingdom of Denmark, they are not included in the Schengen Area. Therefore, you cannot enter using a standard Schengen visa. You also need to apply for a Faroe Islands visa through Denmark.

If you do not currently hold a Schengen visa, you must obtain one that is valid for the Faroe Islands—again, through Denmark. Turkish citizens holding "green passports" (special passports) can enter the Faroe Islands visa-free.
